the privilege of driving one of these magnificent tourers is well worth the petrol. or just sitting in her and enjoying the smell of unashamed luxury!
That might be, but here in Denmark, 98 Octane became so expensive that people didn't buy it anymore, so it been phased out on most petrol stations and replaced with 95 octane petrol or Bio-Diesel instead.
Sure you can, it can be readjusted to run perfectly fine on 95 octane petrol.
Takes a bit of work, but it's doable.
You loose a little bit of power and fueleconomy, but the upside is that lower octane fuels are generally cheaper. Not to mention easily available.
Remember, the only thing a higher octane does, is having a higher pressure point before it self combusts. So with higher octane, you can run higher pressure, such as with turbochargers and the likes.
So if you can live with a little less power, converting the engine makes a lot of sense. As long as it can be adjusted far enough down in pressure that it doesn't knock, it's all good. Modern cars adjust this automatically.
The biggest thing you have to look out for, is wether or not the engine needs leaded/unleaded fuel. And even that can often be worked out bu replacing the valves, and the top piece that holds the valveseats.
Hey Nightbird LOL Elvis was the King and trend setter go do some home work on R&R he had a passion for Lincolns as well as caddies and only owned the best. Alar Lincoln mark 3
This body style is so much more attractive than the models that followed. I love how the bumpers are neatly tucked & blended into the body & its body curves & lines are sexy! Absolutely beautiful Lincoln!
And we all know Elvis was the true barometer of style and class right? lol.. This is a nice car, but I think the Mark VI was the real big daddy of this group.
Great I own one of these 69s and I just want to see the next one. These cars had it all a big block V8 with 365HP - 500 ft lb of torque standard and all class made to beat Cadillac and did even though they were a $1000 dollars more in 69 and the ultimate sign of approval was Elvis himself had one these and personally drove it from late 68 to 1971.

I know I thought here in the us that $2.50 was bad but they're paying upwards of USD 4.50 a gal, thats criminal

@jiffylube1980
Nowadays, 95 octane unleaded petrol costs on average 6½ USD a gallon in Denmark.
Which is better than when it was at 7 USD.
So don't worry, you guys still have cheap gas. :)

Or just use a lead-additive.
