  • I'm absolutely begging you to post a tutorial. I'm 15 and this is my dream piece to be able to play..

  • favorite song on the soundtrack. well done.

  • 1:20 This, is where it get's epic. :-O

  • it's good but just not as good as john williams

  • Rock

  • Wow, this is amazing. You have a talent for arranging- I can learn piano from ear but not transfer from orchestral to piano. I've been looking for a piano arr. of "Journey to the Island" to learn (by ear) from, and this is just perfect. Many themes cover the "welcome to the park" theme, but lack the powerful, majestic bit that happens when they reach the island. Thank you!

  • could u show yo hands plz plz plz

  • 3 people got eaten by dinosuars

  • so thats how u look like!

  • @dumbo7101 Well, that's how I looked in 2009. ;)

  • Who could possibly dislike this? This is AWESOME!!!!!!

  • REALLY good arrangement, you've got a great ear my friend

  • Well done! I have the soundtrack and this sounds extremely accurate.

  • If dinosaurs could sing, this would be there theme song.

  • Rellay nice play! Did you play by ear or you have a sheet?

  • @nabasszdmeg Thanks! All my arrangements are mostly or completely by ear. :)

  • what´s the name of the song at 7:45?

  • @Saltofreak123 Well, this whole piece is on the soundtrack album simply as "Journey to the Island." It was originally recorded in three parts (cues), and that one was called "The Entrance to the Park", but they were intended to be edited together into one long piece of music, just like I played it here. :)

  • @1taken three parts?

  • @PtrkHrnk Yep! They were recorded separately under the titles "To the Island", "The Dinosaurs", and "The Entrance to the Park." Williams wrote them so the recordings could be edited together for both the film and the soundtrack album. This is a common practice in film scoring. In fact, you can often bet that if a given musical sequence is more than 3 or 4 minutes long (sometimes 1 or 2), it was recorded as multiple separate cues.

  • It's too bad many people can't simply enjoy your work rather than badgering you. Anyway, lovely job, and I only hope you continue to upload fantastic music at your own pace. :D

  • @SecretsofDisneyland Nah, it's all right. I take it as a compliment, mostly. :) And my current setup makes it a lot easier to record piano music anyhow, which is why I've started uploading more videos again. (Sheet music still takes too much time, though, haha.) Anyway, thanks for your kind words!

  • Well, that is simply AMAZING. You did a very very well job, it is a nice arrangement. And you've chosen music from the best composer in the world!

  • Yay! I've been listening to that piece since a while and can't get it out of my head again. That's exactly what I expected a piano arrangement of it to sound like when I got on Youtube to search for it. I have some experience in trying to play what I hear (Star Wars, Harry Potter - J.-Williams-masterpieces as well ;) ) and I know it's hard to figure out which of the many details in the music makes it sound exactly the way you feel it. And from what I feel, you did an excellent job, man! Thanks!

  • Very beautiful! Everytime I think in this music, I think in your version.

  • 5 stars friend. This sounded just like the original. Very impressive. This is my favourite piece of music from the original film. As a guitarist, I don't have much place in orchestral pieces, but I still appreciate a good piece of music

It is my opinion, that John Williams is the greatest motion picture composer in all history. I have other favourites - Hans Zimmer and Alan Menkin among them - but John Williams is at the top, and my favourite scores from him are JP and Star Wars saga.

  • @Historymaker2001 Thanks very much! =) And I agree about John Williams...others have written fantastic music, too, but no one's body of work as a whole can compare to what he's accomplished. And this piece is one of his finest, so I'm truly honored that you think I did it justice.

  • ok... Dude.. you can hook your keyboard up to a mac or pc and it will transfer the notes.. its just a matter of 9 mins and people stop bugging u.

  • @castmemberzack The results would be unplayable. Sorry to be blunt here, but...seeing as how I'm the only one who's tried MIDI transcription for my arrangements, you're really just going to need to trust my judgment on this. I'm very sorry that I can't provide sheet music for this, but it's not my responsibility to stop people from "bugging me" simply because I posted a video that they enjoyed. It would take significantly more than 9 minutes, and I've moved on to other fun projects. =)

  • @1taken whats coming up then?!!!!!! Mabe you could video tape yourself playing it and just put it at 20% and that way we could see. idk... i am just throwing stuff out there. But is your new arangement going to be a ride? i hope its California Screamin... that would be sick..

  • @castmemberzack Well, I don't really have any new videos on the horizon - my current living situation makes it pretty much impossible to record anything new. Most of the projects I was referring to aren't piano arrangements, though I've done stuff like the World of Color intro. Screamin'...meh, I can play it, but not well. It needs a lot more work. But yeah, I can't really do any videos right now. =(

  • That's so awesome! It's really touching my heart...

  • Congratulations, this piece is brilliantly arranged. I love this piece in particular, it has my three favourite themes from the movie in it - The journey theme, the brachiasaur theme and the theme as they arrive at the visitor's centre! You've got a lovely touch in the changes as well. Congratulations again, brilliant!

  • Great job. Sounds wonderful!

  • if you ever get the chance can you send me the sheet music? I've been looking everywhere and can't find.

  • jurassic park has one of the greatest movie music ever

  • its very greeaattt 5* !!!!!!

  • this brilliant!!!

  • This absolutely fantastic. Great job!! I've listened to Journey to the Island more times than I can count and this arrangement is PERFECT.

  • Please do a tutorial!!!!!

  • Love this song... EPIC!!!!!!

  • A little slow in spots but otherwise very good!!!!!!!!!! 4.9/5

  • what are the name of the sonds i just reconize jurassic park theme and journey to the island

  • This is really beautiful! Jurassic Park is my ultimate favorite movie and the music is really touching! You've really captured the right mood, now I just wish I could play as well as you do..!

How long have you played the piano?

  • My offer is still on the table

    coin for this on paper.

  • I'm sorry...it's just way too much hassle to do it right now. In order to really effectively write down an arrangement, I really need to have a piano or keyboard right next to my computer so I can go back and forth for each measure. Unfortunately, that's just not possible at the moment.

  • @Lachlanau You can buy it on Amazon. Search for "Jurassic Park Piano Solo Songbook"

  • Wow, i imagine this is what it must have sounded like when Williams himself was playing a final play-through of the piece on his piano before he gave it to Alexander Courage to orchestrate it. Stunning work mate!

  • Thank you very, very much! =D Certainly high praise. As such, I really hate to use it for an opportunity to correct you, but...well, I'd want you to do the same. Anyway, first of all, this piece was actually orchestrated by John Neufeld, though Courage worked on some of the other cues. Secondly, Williams creates detailed "sketches" that contain most of the information about which instruments play what. The orchestrators really just expand that out into all the individual parts. =)

  • Thanks for the 'correction'. Though I wouldn't like to think that I would need correction on a subject like JW music, ignorance is a shameful beast. I'm well aware of the role an orchestrator performs when they work for JW, but thanks for the tips. Also, I'm aware that Neufeld worked with this music, but how were you to deduce that he worked on this particular cue? I only ask so as to avoid such ignorance in the future, which to me is embarassing, as I'm an avid musicological fan of his works.

  • I know that Neufeld orchestrated these three cues because it says so on the conductor's scores, though I didn't have those when I created my piano arrangement. =D Actually, Neufeld orchestrated almost everything - Courage worked on the unreleased "T-Rex Chase" cue, the 2nd half of "Eye to Eye", and "T-Rex Rescue", and Conrad Pope worked with Neufeld on a couple of cues, but it was mostly Neufeld.

  • You can't be referring to the JW SigEd scores, 'coz this piece hasn't been released like that, so may I ask, which 'score' you are referring to? Are you saying you have seen (or actually HAVE)the full score to this piece? If so then HOW????????. I want it as well!!!! =P.

  • whoever orchestrated the track "t-rex rescue " is a genius. So john williams composed the music for piano and john neufeld arranged it for orchestra?

  • That would be Alexander Courage, perhaps better known as the composer of the original Star Trek theme. Generally speaking, John Williams writes AT the piano, but not FOR the piano. He comes up with all the instruments' parts, using the piano to help him think it through, and writes everything down in a condensed "sketch." The orchestrators (such as Neufeld and Courage) go in and expand that out into sheet music that can be used by the orchestra, but Williams does all the writing himself. =)

  • i see...anyway i really like john williams, he's a genius of our times

p.s. i'm the guy which purpose was to arrange the entira soundtrack of jp, i did a bit but not learned the arrangements =(

( it takes a loooooong time)

  • My band usually comes on stage to this song, hah. I think it's a pretty unique song to come on stage to.

  • Another fantastic piano arrangement. Your arrangements are always well thought out and executed well. They also maintain the intensity and timbre of the originals while adding in some interesting things that only pianos can do.

    Great job!

  • Thank you very much! =)

  • Beatiful!!!! thank you for your job!!!!

  • This is great! Now all you need is a genetics company, and an island, etc. etc.

  • Psshhh, I've already got all that stuff! Haha, thanks. =D

  • haha

  • That was terrific!!! dude ur awesome!! u really have talent!! and i mean that!!

im subcribing it and rating it 5/5!! i would rate it higher but i cant. I LOVE this song!! and u just took it a notch higher!!!! Congrats!!

  • I'll pay you to put this into sheet music

  • Maybe someday...sorry! =/

  • :( x 1000

  • Sir, you haveth got you a subscriber :p Good job with all this GREAT music!!

  • great job!!

  • this brings me back to the past.

As a child this song was inrcedible for me.

    Lot of memories.

    Thanks!

And sorry for my english :D

  • OH MY GOD!!!! It´s incredibly good. Simply incredible. From Spain... My congratulations

OH DIOS MIO!!!! Es increiblemente buena. Simplemente increible. Desde España... mi enhorabuena

  • fantastic

  • Tutorial please!

  • This is magnificent, and does more than proper justice to Williams' original orchestral piece.

    Bravo.

  • Thank you so much! =)

  • loooooooovveee it

    yyou inspire me!!

=]=]=] keep up posting awesome music please

    ^_^

  • Thank you very much! =D I hope to have more recordings - hopefully in better quality, and perhaps with video - uploaded this summer.

  • i keep listening to this...it is so amazing!! i can play piano too, but this is just craziness!! :) great job!

  • sheet music??

  • Gotta read the other comments, my friend. =)

  • just checkin if he recently made some

  • Wow.. Please make this good work in a midi.

    Respect!

  • Thank you, but why would you want a cheap-sounding MIDI instead of a real performance?

  • Because i have to learn it (Not by ear xD).

  • I second killhunter, MIDI of your work on this song would be nice, it would be good so we could learn it :) Please? :D

  • If anything, I would just do standard sheet music - it would more clearly illustrate what exactly I'm playing, and it'd be easier to create. Unfortunately, it's just not really feasible with my current setup, though. =(

  • 100000 out o 10000000

  • You know that simplifies to 1 out of 100, right? ;)

  • ROFLMAO.

  • please!!! where can I get this arrangement music sheet?!?!?!

  • Sorry, I haven't written it down. =( You'll just have to figure it out on your own, too!

  • Aaaahgh dont torture me!!!

lol im kidding, thats what ive been trying to do lately, I also play by ear. You have a great talent, kudos to you.

    Keep it up!

  • Haha, thank you! Yeah, just keep at it. The more stuff you try to learn to play, the better you get, and the easier the process becomes. These days, I can do stuff on the first try that used to take weeks. Just gotta keep at it! And keep having fun with it.

  • Awesome! It's better than the arrangement on the book I found.

I read you spent a lot of time listening to some passages, wouldn't it be easier to read the score?

  • this is by far the best verion of this song ive ever heard i am also a piano player but by god im not as good as you!!!well done m8 :)

  • ha! Well keep up the good work.

  • Well not all mics are perfect.

  • Ha ha ha ha.

Well that there is a strong $10 mic.

But I'm feeling a little sarcasm in that sentence.

  • How do you record your piano so clear?

  • No problem, I found some online! It includes StarWars,Startrek,Indiana jones,Back to the Future and more like Hollywood symbols & so forth.

  • this sound very good, your piano has a nice echo sound to it.

and I like the Jurassic text, may I ask where you got it?

  • this is THE absolute best version of JTTI I've ever heard on the piano. dude, you should get a medal for this theme

*hands a congratulatory medal to 1taken for his uber-piano JP tribute*

  • great!

  • Well done! I'm trying too to do an arrangement of this piece, in reality i'm trying to do an arrangement of the whole soundtrack...i love the soundtrack and this is like my tribute to it...

    really compliments again

sorry for my english and w john williams :)

  • this reminds me of the music special i do at my school

  • if you do decide to do so please notify me, i love the way you put it together

  • do you think you can write up a sheet note for this with the keys like c, d, and g? that would be awesome

  • Nice arrangement, man! I really enjoyed it, especially the crescendoing at the trumpet part. just a quick question tho, in one of your earlier posts you said that you had come across some sheet music of this piece, and i was wondering if you still had that sheet music, and if so, i was wondering if you can maybe upload it somewhere, you know, to help a fellow pianist out :), haha!

  • My God! I don't know who you are, but... Wall. You are the BEST of the BESTS! I will record your version in CD and I will listen to it in my car. Oh Men... I almost cryed. Sorry for my English. Congratulations from Brazil.

  • Impressive. Im a pianist myself, I know you know that some small parts in the middle you either got lost a bit or wasn't sure what to play, but the peice as a whole was excellent. That was not a criticism just an observation from a fellow pianist. Verdict - spot on mate keep it up

  • Impressive video man.. good job! JP it's my favourite soundtrack.. you catch the right spirit of the movie and john williams's pieces. Good job.

  • ok i will se what i can get king kong and the metropolitan area is going to be a tuff negotiation. but jurassic park and bttf shuld be easy because bill has jurassic park in the office. and i have bttf . so to make this short ill get those in a jif .

  • um remember when you said you wanted to make 3d renders of the burned sets at universal as well as king kong. well now I probably can get you those blueprints. my dads friend bill has bluprints of new york street where they filmed spiderman and transformers corthouse square, king kong stage, phantom stage film location for 1925 phantom (copy), jurassic park the ride, and in my posession bttf the ride.

  • Also true,. but you know birds are dinosaurs in so many ways its creepy,. scientists also says that, dinosaurs didnt die out, theyre still here, just a bit feathered,. haha,. but anyways enough dino chat,. I love your work,. I just saw Soarin,. Oh my dear, that was perfect,. you should do it again with a keyboard, so u could add more volume and effects,.

  • well,. only time will tell ,when they can grow tail, teeth and arms on a bird,. its not that far to go

  • absolutely amazing, you sent me right to my piano and im currently listening to the original soundtrack atm lol trying to learn it myself

your version however is really beautiful and you play it very well and majestically just like the opening theme should be played,, its an instant favourite.. nice one :D

  • loved it,. as for bringing back dinosaurs,. its easier than we think,. we can bring them back from birds,. sinse they are related,. just search for bringing back dinosaurs from birds,. its kind of creepy

  • well as a nerd of science I like asking these sorts of things. but you know that suposed tissue scientists found, it was a mixture of bactirea and mold.

  • on jurassic park itself, do you think if dinosar dna was descoverd wuld this be the most likely way to bring a dino back.?

    what do you think.

  • thats amazing1 you did that by ear? wow!

  • Sorry. I didn't mean to post 3 times. I would post something about performance and arragnement, but I just can't listen to a detuned piano sorry.

But one thing, you use to much pedal or it might be the pianos fault. also it seems that some parts are taken from the Piano Solo book of JP, so not all of the arrangement is by yours

  • I had this music on in the background and I know this sounds kind of corny, but all of the sudden I just felt amazed at how emotional the song was. You play so amazingly, especially for by ear. I'm going to try to learn this song by ear as well, though it will be nowhere near as incredible as this.

  • please tune your piano, it ruins everything !

  • deleted, you know its really dificult to talk when im not able to text a comment on a channel that i really use. this one is for the bttf fans that got mad when I stoped making bttf vids. so I made this one.

  • thanks. it was only nine dollars with that much detail I baught em all. the most detaild one is the natzie troop

  • did you get it ?

  • yeah its much better,.. as you prooved but I made a vid on my other channel for you its short but?

I will send it to you no need for you to waist your time looking for it.

  • oh ok good now idont feel lost i deleted my universal im just going to do it on blener.

  • hmm well you never know. anyway to finaly stop my confusion did you take classes to learn how to use blender.=P

  • oh!,thats cool you remember. because you told me that it was a long time cince you been there. i go almost all the time my dad works there. not me love to though.=)

  • I dont know but by your old pic on the blog and this ome i think iv seen you.

naa its not even by the highest chance.

  • oh I really must say this is great that actualy sounds like the ride music more than the arival. oh! im mistaken, this is the outside themeing music.

  • ?... have you been to a ralfs market these past weeks?

  • Really amazing work. JP may is definetley one of my favorite scores.

Can't wait for your model to resume updates!

  • Excellent. I always loved the main theme 5 minutes in to it.

  • The Joe doth say: "it's my by-ear arrangement"

Okay you can just shut up now :D and stop being so talented. You put the rest of us to shame! XD

    Good job Joe!

  • Very good! The pieces from Jurassic Park are my favorite and I believe to be John Williams' best. I thoroughly enjoyed this arrangement. Do you have sheet music for it?

  • Good job Jozeforg! I wonder if you can hear clicking in the backround.

  • this is really great. too bad you didn't do the opening notes to jurassic park, that'd be cool. how's the virtual scale model building going on disneyland?

  • cool
