  • is this a good mic to record just vocals

  • PLUS, encode your video at a higher bitrate, that allows youtube to have higher quality options (that also increase audio quality too)

  • I wouldn't call this a REAL test if equalization and reverb was added, even if it was minimal

  • WOW! I came here to see what the mic sounds like, but I fell in love with your voice!

  • I hear a lot of hiss

  • Wow amazing song. Im thinking of buying this microphone to record my guitar playing as well!

  • Wow. That music was amazing. Sounds like a freaking recorded song. Excellent work.

  • Wow.. Ive been trying to look for a good review for this product and you are absolutely correct, no one really gave a good audio sample. You've done a great job and have become my deciding factor for buying this mic. I hope it works as well for me as it does for you. Very talented by the way! Good humor as well

  • Best review I've seen! Thanks so much! And your music was great to! : ) -Vanessa

  • it is attached to garageband, default track in garageband has a noise gate which removes the noise.. he also add some reverb. the sound & features of samson is compelling at its price range. i'll get one :P

  • My Go Mic do noise? Why in your video is 0 noise?

  • Good review and great singing voice. I've been looking into this particular microphone for a while, mainly to replace using a headset mic to record voiceovers. I've been seeing very high reviews everywhere, and I think it's the best one out there in this price range, given its quality and adjustment features.

Unfortunately your link doesn't seem to work anymore. I'd be interested in seeing the better quality version of the video.

  • Very nice. That's what I was looking for. I think you made up my mind on the purchase!

  • You are a wonderful singer,, Awesome..

  • Your very talented! I might pick this mic up!

  • OH GOD. I had to close my eyes and listen to this. I went nuts.

  • I really like this mic but it's sounding awfully fuzzy for me, I must have the settings wrong and/or need a pop filter. :(

  • you are really good :) LOVED IT!!!

  • nice mustache ever....

  • Thank you verry much for the test and olso you are a good musician :D

  • Hi!I loved the song, this little things sound amazing, I agree. I'm still trying to understand how the go mic works...could it be that when I record the guitar and the my voice, the voice comes with a minimal delay?or maybe it's me singing with a delay =P Thanks in advance =D

  • i bought the same mic u got which is the go mic and the software i got is called cakewalk music creator le and for some reason i don't see my vocal levels move or nothing i can't record or nothing i do hear myself but i can't record is there anyway you could help me with this problem?do you have msn so u could mess with my volume mixer levels and etc..i think that's the problem but im not sure is there anyway u could help do u got msn messanger where u could control my computer.somebody help me

  • amazing video and you got an amazing voice

can you please tell me where did you buy the thing that you have on your mic that's like a pop filter

    thanks

  • hello mike how are you,

Hey listen I've purchased the Samson go mic and I am using it with a PC(windows XP)

and I can not get it to work

its not compatible with my drivers it is using a MME driver how do I convert it to a standard driver the PC is using?

  • can you re-upload this video to a high quality one? link is broken btw

  • Are you in a church? there's a lot of reverb

    great video btw :)

  • Thanks for this review -- I couldn't get a good idea of what this sounded like from other videos (I checked the link in the video, too). I think I'm going to go with it, might make a cheap cover until I can buy an actual one -- from what I've read, the popping on p's is somewhat an issue. The video was well done, and covered a versatile range of functions. (It might have helped that I like the song, though.)

  • i just got my samson go mic to record, however, it records in fast forward...sounds like alvin and the chipmunks but choppy. You can hardly tell what's going on at all.

    What am i doing wrong?

  • I came here for the mic, but your singing broke my heart. I'd almost forgotten how great this song is. Gotta listen to Gordon Lightfoot again.

  • Lovely singing/playing; I really enjoyed your rendition of the song. I'm going to purchase one of these mics today! I've been looking for a review that didn't include the 'unboxing' lol.

  • holy sssss...holy is a lamb...cool!!!

won't you post the non reverb version?

  • Wow you have a good voice. Good luck with your music.

  • Thanks you this video solidified my decision to buy this mic. I was on the fence about it. Great work on the reviewing the mic, Mike!

  • Thank you so much for doing this, no one cares, well some do about the box i wanna hear what singing sounds like

  • Thanks for the great review. This helped me decide to go ahead and pick one up. (BTW...you sound great on the guitar and your voice is awesome.)

  • I purchased this mic to record along with my standard mics on my PC DAW with Sonar. It seemd that, on the PC, I can not get the Go Mic to work along with my standard mics as they use diferent drivers. WDM for the Go Mic and MME for the standard mics (low budget stuff). Is this no problem with a Mac.garage band? The Go Mic has no special drivers in Windows (just standard Windows USB mic drivers). If they made MME drivers that would be good but they do not (even ASIO drivers would be better).

  • @RemmikRotus Quick reply "RR" - no issue whatsoever with the Mac drivers / laptop etc...

  • You're right... you should get a commision. I think you've pretty much sold me, and picked a great example to do it with. Having recently moved to the UK and leaving most of my expensive studio gear in storage back home in the States (hopefully to be shipped over at some point), I'm repiecing my home studio back together with lots of experience tempered only by a highly-limited budget.... it's little gems like this video that have helped me along in my selection process greatly. ~Cheers.

  • Excellent review, thanks Mike. And that Taylor and your voice sounds great. Go forward Mike. Go Mike go! Thanks again. God speed.

  • Hi Mike! Is there any delay if you plug in your headphones into this microphone and monitor yourself? Thank you

  • @drshadow89 Sory for delay in reply. I don['t get on here much of late. Plugging headphones into the mic directly, no delay or latency at all. Plugging phones into the PC / MacBook, there's always that risk depending on settings and processor speed of course. :)

  • @drshadow89

I got delay when plug headphone direct into go mic..

  • Thanks, I'll be buying this one too for Piano + Vocals.

I were looking at £90+ USB Condensor mics before, then someone recomended me this one and linked me this video.

I'll be recording over this mic, a Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium HD (not released yet using Cubase LE, simple stuff.

  • You're really good. I know that was just a sample but it was very nice.

  • For some reason when you said "aggregate" you sounded just like Carl Sagan. Also, I just bought one of these mics, I hope it sounds nice in person! Nice playing and Vocals too :)

  • thanx! this was very helpfull! nice singin voice too! im going to get this mic tomorrow

  • I'd like to hear the high quality. Can you post a link in a reply please :)

  • Great review. As for Neuman mic's , the days of those mic's, and tube pre amps are way gone.

  • Do you have a filter on the mic ur talking into? Thanks Mike!

  • I have a small generic foam screen on the mic. However, it does not fully "cover" the mic - henceforth, you may still get plosives depending on distance etc... Suggest using a gooseneck type windscreen if you're seriously recording vocals. If you're using it from a distance (i,.e. - on your laptop for voice chat etc..., you're fine).

  • Hi Mike. I bought mine based just on your demo and recommendation. By the way nice voice and guitar playing.

  • very good review and sound test quality, now im definitely gonna buy one tnx alot!

  • Excellent review!

where did you buy those two popfilters?

Are they specially designed for the Go-Mic or are they normal popfilters?

  • Pop filters were bought at Sam Ash - their brand - about $6.00 each. They're "thinner" (in physical design) towards the bottom hence they don't block enough of the wind when you're right on top of them. I'm sure there are others to be found at a reasonable price. I ended up using a standard pop filter screen w/ gooseneck etc... That worked perfect. Everything else about these mics I LOVE! It's just that pop issue unless you get the right filter or don't speak right on top of them.

  • ADDITIONALLY: Forgot to say - those filters are generic and not designed for the Go-Mics. Also, if you watch the way I sing in the video, I'm sightly angled off to one side. This is how I avoided any pops while using those filters versus the goose neck pop screen I referred to above.

  • @MikeThomasMusic

    Thank you :)

How would the mic work with recording some guitar licks and ideas on both acoustic and electric guitar?

And one thing I noticed, what did you use for holding the mic you singed with? A normal stand?

  • Snaky G - I've tried three times to respond to you about your last inquiry. But darn YouTube will only let you type 500 characters. I can't answer it properly in less than 500 characters LOL. If you want, please feel free to email me and I'll email you back with proper /lengthy explanations and opinions on all this stuff.

    Mike T

  • you a good singer man to... nice voice

  • Snaky-G,

I've never been much of an electric guitar player so I may not be able to give a fair opinion on this one. But what you heard on that video was my Taylor acoustic guitar with NO pick up - just that Go-Mic. Pretty awesome in my opinion!!!

  • ThaRealilade -

Sorry - I sent you a response that was meant for another person. My bad - I clicked the wrong "reply" button. Sorry. And thanks for the comp on the "good singer" post you made a while back. Appreciated! Do you sing / play as well???
