  • stupendo!!!!!

  • Thanks so much for showing us how to do this. I want so desperately to be able to paint well, but I lack technique and only learn thru trial and a lot of error. I know I will never be a brilliant artist, but I just want to achieve a level of proficiency so that I can produce works that give me a feeling of satisfaction that I have created something beautiful. It is very kind of you to share your skills. In these difficult times, anything that spreads joy is a service to human kind.

  • excellent brush work! Thanks for sharing with the world.

  • dawn or early morning ocean...there is too much light for this to be night.

  • Beautiful, I am very impressed of your work. Could you upload a new video where you paint slower and explain what you do, because I would like to paint this painting but it's too difficult, you paint very fast in this video...

  • WELCOME...visit GPABSKY.com website for the ARTIST. ty!

  • I was wondering, how long did it take since you started the painting until it was finally done? Basically what I want to know is if you let it dry at some stages and then continue next day/whenever(so that paint is dry and doesn't mix with newly applied paint) or is it a continuum

  • wow! I knew this old artist who painted beautiful sealandscapes, but never got the opportunity to see the process (whis is understandable, I too dont like someone watching when I paint), so this was just prizeless for me to watch! :) *fav*

  • This painting is wonderful! I love the way you paint. You are really talented. Thank you for making this movie - it sure gave me some inspiration. Greetings from Norway :)

  • I could sit on the beach and watch this ocean all night.

  • I like the way you used the ruler to keep your lines straight, I will try that :)

  • Amazing!!!!!

  • Very nice, I would've maybe left the sky darker, its abit distracting. But either way, nice atmosphere.

  • wow...this is beautiful...really really beautiful art ^^

  • thx

  • Incredible! I love it :)

  • it's wonderful !!!!

  • Incredible. Do you have to be gifted to be a good artist? I have always loved art, I used to copy pictures & draw them. I was thinking about trying it out. Anybody have any hand outs? Thanks

  • Do u think it is possible for a beginner to paint like that? I mean if I paint this painting step by step

  • very nice. like your style. i would definately hang this one in my home.

  • Very nice work! I just wonder... how do you manage to stop painting? I have a hard time stopping my paintings. To me painting is life and life is continuos :/. All the best from Sweden and the most respectful of complements!

  • awsome work! I didn't know that I can use a dark color background to make such a beautiful effect. THANK YOU!

  • very nice painting and demo

  • nice work thanks for sharing it

  • amazing!

  • thanks for your reply. . . i found this video very helpful, especially since i had been very much into watercolours in the past and now i'm opting for oil paints as well.

  • beautiful!!!

so nights are not painted with a white background?

  • I used a toned background here mainly for filming purposes. This helps hold the cameras light and focus adjustments in check. It really depends on your preference of working but I find it helpful to get the darkest darks in first. This really aids in finding the light. Night paintings will glow with high contrast so be carefull not to have too many middle values if you want it to have drama. Hope this is helpfull and thanks for your kind comments.

  • I dont know about this one, doesnt really look like a night sky, the contrast is off
