  • Great track

  • @joychillie enjoy;)

  • thank`s it`s great!!! (`v`)

  • Sting , amongst other obvious things, is a gorgeous bass player

  • absolute perfection

  • omg love

  • in what year is this??¿

  • Sorry, but Sting's original band with Omar Hakim, Kenny Kirkland (RIP), Darryl Jones & Brandford Marselis were tighter and had more Soul. That band set the standard that no other assemble of musicians could ever meet.

  • nice !...live in Japan ですね.

  • Six years at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and I feel qualified to say that this is the BEST rendition of Sting's classic Bring On The Night.

  • @hathorearthfyre

then you didn´t hear the version of this song with sting´s original band (hakim, d.jones, kirkland, marsalis), sorry, conservatory is not enough for that.

  • This is one great band that Sting put together. Only 4 pieces and they sound outrageous..The definition of a tight group.

  • This is so sweet! Thanks for posting.

  • think his tension was to bring jazz back in the mainstream as it was, when ray inherited the planet ... the result is what you see above, more star-posing between 2 worlds than jazz.

when the world is running down, .... (one of ma police favorites!)

  • Goooooooodddd!!!!!

  • David Sancious is friggin' incredible!

  • I'm just really used to Kenny Kirkland I guess...but this key solo seems SO tame in comparison.

    Good stuff though.

  • @NouveauNick It is tame, you're right. Very repititious and boring. Maybe an off night?

  • Listen to Rúzsa Magdi's version. Her voice is amazing.

  • dude

  • GREAT!!! :D

  • Vinnes Kit. MAGIC.

  • he's as good a bass player as he's a musician. Plays a lot of different instruments, writes music... and knows exactly where the note has to go to give his special touch and sense....

  • great keyboard but poor guitar soloing !

  • What's the meaning of whats is the meaning of "God Bid Yesterday"

    Please Help me ^^

  • The lyric is

"God bid yesterday good bye. . ."

  • Sting is the best example of a great bass player...just a few notes can make an amazing bass line.

  • Such a shame it's out of sync, but I'm still dancing to this, BABY!

  • This has made my day. My favorite version. Thanks for posting this!

  • From 0:00 to 7:53 is awesome.

  • I love David Sancious, he's a great player, but hey, nobody plays this improvisation like Kenny Kirkland does (did, sorry)... and it is a tough one to play, at this speed and with not much harmonic variation.

  • Gotta agree with you on that...Kenny's 4 minute solo on the "Bring On The Night Album" is fucking good!

  • I think David Sancious was amazing in this video , hes an awesome player !

  • the bomb

  • the best version ever of this song is gustavo cerati´s one toghether with andy summers and Vinnie Calliauto

  • Yes...I too love the gustavo cerati's version.

    It's awesome great!!

But each versions lives in each planets;)

  • @agus1203 what other versions do you talk about?

  • @agus1203

do you have a link for that version?

  • @agus1203

do you have a link for that version?

  • @agus1203 Vinnie is good, but he's no Stewart Copeland

  • After Kenny it's Jason Rebello for me, he is the man for this solo ........ untouchable

  • This is my favorite version of this song. The thing about Sting is he surrounds himself with the world's #1 players: Dominic Miller, Vinnie Calliauto, David Sancious. This version is so much better than the others with the Police.

  • You clearly missed Sting at Québec City on July 18, 2009 dude! The version was really better than this one, especially cause of the keyboard solo, it was like a miracle!

  • nah, you kidding? andy and stewart are the best.

  • The video taken with a cell phone isn't the best but if this isn't a jam session, what is? and the way he moves... give 10 minutes with him to rock with him, to his music, and we'll have a nice time. I'm no pro dancer, but i can dance very well, and to this kind of rithm and improvisaion, that's my best...

  • It's ok, but nowhere near as good as the rendition on the live album. David Sancious is a good player, but this did not impress me. Then again, the original is kind of hard to top, especially if you don't have Darryl Jones and Omar Hakim backing you up.

  • U Right...Gently..PEACE!szkoda ze odszedl...

  • Kenny Kirkland was a virtuoso of great talent!. Bless him. Peace!

  • PURE CREAM

    A-1

  • Tremenda banda! Excelente video. David Sancious gran tecladista. Ojala sting contara con una banda así ahorita.

  • The man can SING, the man can DANCE and most importantly., THE MAN certainly JAMS! Maybe you're just a gaylord yourself...

  • well vinnie is great omar is god

  • i was at this gig u can spot me in crowd with the other 3 westerners!! sue steve!!!

  • Por favor , donde estuvo Kenny Kirkland , nadie , NADIE, llegara, ni de lejos, penoso el solo de este chico, lo siento, donde Kenny lo dijo todo , este no dice NADA.

  • Sencillamente GENIAL....

Para nosotros los ochentosos INIGUALABLE JA..

    GRACIAS POR SEMEJANTE VIDEO...

  • To me this band sounds just that bit too bored and professional. It's lacking the momentum and funky drive of the turtles band.

  • I loved that line up too. They were younger and kind of amazed to be playing to such enormous crowds. Daryl jones and omar let the thing take off and thus kenny k and branford were really on cloud 9. with sting on bass it is a bit steady. Vinnie is too restrained. [just ideas]

  • Have you ever seen Kenny Kirkland play with this group before his demise?

David Sancious is an amazing talent, but to see Kenny tour with Sting, you couldn't take your eyes off the keyboards...and I'm a drummer :)

    RIP Kenny

  • saw Dominc Miller in a small jazz club in Berlin half a year ago - it was so overwhelming, what he did with his accoustic guitar - but, the piano solo in this version is a killer :-)

  • vinnie on drums ?

  • yes..

    It's Vinnie

  • mama miaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Dominic Miller is so gifted with talent :D

  • bring on the night

  • Sancious is alright, but nothing compares do Kirkland's genius 1986 solo.

  • David Sancious IS ABSOLUTELY THE NUMBER ONE!!!VINNIE COLAIUTA IS ALSO FANTASTIC and STING IS THE MOST TALENTED MUSICIAN OF EVER!

  • @avmdiana76 Where is Sancious now???

    Thanks

  • is kenny kirkland on the piano???

  • David Sancious on Key;)

  • @bluetango84 yes it's him, monumental!

  • Sting's best crew so far.....

  • holy crap Sancious is tearing up those keys ,and vinne omg the best , The whole band is tight as hell

  • u know it, and he wouldnt have it any other way!!!

  • Saw them at the Hollywood Bowl last Wednesday night...Fantastic!!...As Great as they ever were!! Rocked with my daughter and 11 year old granddaughter (she knew the words to most of the songs) 3 Generations Strong!! Their music is incomparable!! Sting is STILL one damn good looking man!! Yeah Baby!!!

  • im a small town east texas kid that is now 35, loved it then, now it trances me

  • great performance live

  • Dom rockin a steal your face.... gnice!

  • His voice is so beautiful

  • I personnally think this is a very good piano solo. The way it builds up is simply stunning... At 3:26 when Sting starts playing eight notes on the bass it's amazing. I hope you guys all enjoys Vinnie's performance on the drums. Nice video.

  • Wow!

    Thanks for nice comment:>

  • perhaps at some altitude you wouldn't rush the beauty of anysummers

  • The best version of this song it's included in the live In Paris (1986) on the first night of the Sting and the Dream of the blue turtles tour. There you can found the solo of Kenny that is really incredible, the groove of the "Monk" and Omar Hakim, Brandoford at saxophone,ecc.. Here the permormer is Dave Sancious(good, but not as the same level of Kenny).

  • 100% agree! This version here could be from the "Soul Cages" tour?

  • I reckon, judging by what the guys are wearing, and the stage set up, lighting and stuff, that this is from the Ten Summoners Tales tour.

  • One more thing....The only other guy who could take a solo on this tune in my opinion is Jason Rebello

  • Totally agree- in fact there was a clip on youtube of rebello's solo for the barazilian shows that was supreme- but then it got pulled...

  • After Kenny's solo on the original tune...who would want to take a solo after that... David did his best.

  • Thx For The Video ..

I'm still looking for song or video La Belle Dames San Regrets from album Mercurry Falling is any one has this video please upload on here ...

    Thx alot

  • Dazzler, Just had a look at your jazz quintet online. Cant beleive you have the audacity to label Mr Sancious a terrible player if thats all you have to offer.

  • 8 minutos muy bien gastados, que excelente!

  • Kenny Kirkland's solo on the original album is truly one of the most jaw dropping performances ever recorded. Man shouldn't be capable of playing like that!!!

  • ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Rolando Carhuancho

  • i dont play instruments but the piano solo seems to be very good..

  • Absolute sting!!!

  • Hey Dazzler73 and Koolynoodyano...I was ready to fight you over this, but you're right. On this solo, he's pretty rubbish. Vinnie's spot on! But the bottom just dropped out at the piano solo. He really is a good pianist, but you can't turn it full on ALL the time. I've seen him live with Sting twice and both times he was (and is) awesome. Off night I guess. -Kirk

  • when he bits his uppper lip, you know he's really playing it, as opposed to the other 9think about tomorrow ting0 day

  • Great song!

  • God David Sancious is terrible. How he got to tour with Sting is beyond me. His solos are rubbish... I know SO many pianists here in London that would smoke him.

  • Hi Guys, I had once a VHS tape with Sting's Soul Cages concert from L.A. which took place on his 40th birthday, now I think it was the best Sting's concert I've ever had, it dissapeared somewhere unfortunately. Does anybody have it or knows where to buy or download it? (Sting was wearing a yellow vest and Vinnie had some funny trousers ) Thanks in advance.

  • there is only 1 thing to say about this song... GENIUS :D:D:D

  • i think that this is a kinda jazzy rock

  • thats FANTASTIC

  • WOW!!! This is the way I like Stings music the best! Ok I am baised, I play keybaords and I like jazz also but give me any music by Sting tis soright with me!. Great Video! How are you guys taking these videos?

  • This is the best present that I can received today in the day of my birthday. Sting is one of my favorite musician for years. I have been listened his music for years and his quality is unquestionable. The best music ever.

  • knonball u r an idiot, david sancious is a great keabordyst like kenny kirkland, i think that this solo on this song is absolutely great

  • la concha de la madre como esta estooooooooooo!

  • incredible groove and energy..GOD! SAVE THEM ALL!

  • Comparing this to the '86 version, I'd take this solely for Dominic's solo.

  • Just listen Kenny's solo on "the blue turtles", it's really an other level of feeling, virtuosity, ideas, groove... D. Sancious is a great keyboard player (all Sting's keyboard player are anyway) but he was certainly very very tired this night. I just can't understand he's way of playing.

  • Great bandleader, brought jazz back into rock

  • Davis Sancious AND Kenny Kirkland are both equal keyboardists. I've seen both with sting and have one of Kennys solo cds. I have to agree with the kipper thing. A little to much programming and not enough playing. All around I feel this line up id my favored. 4 piece and kicking ass!

  • I play the piano (not even close to the skills of KK) but the best compliment I ever got was my piano teacher telling me I had hands like Kenny Kirkland!

  • Come on guys!...Sure, Kenny was great, but get over it! David isn't Kenny and nor should he be...

The fact of the matter is, that he's onstage with Sting, and all of us "back seat musicians" (myself included)are behind the safety of our own PC's, shooting him down. I for one can still listen to his solo and get a heap of ideas that will last me a lifetime , if any of you "naysayers" disagree, then let me know when you're embarking on your next "world Tour" !

  • Kenny Kirkland is missed in this song and not only for the solo. I've seen him playing in Rome: a piano player was there with me and he was speechless... he thought Kenny was simply perfect. Sting once said that Kenny was better than his Synclavier.RIP

  • I saw this tour, the Ten Summoners Tales tour, at the Royal Albert Hall, thanks to the Clairbrothers sound system it rocked big time. I LOVE this track from The Police days, and I thought the four of them did a brilliant job, but jeez, big Kenny's solo is missed. But Vinnie and Dom make up for it. Why oh why a concert from this tour is not out on DVD. Because Stings later stuff just doesnt cut the mustard, sorry Kipper, but no synths or programming for Sting please.

  • KENNY KIRKLAND is very much missed...with all my respect, this piano solo is definitely NOT good...Kenny was simply fantastic.

  • Some nights are not as good as others. Davids solo I have recorded from the 1st tour with this band in 1991 in LA is really good and better formulated.

  • Agreed. I have that PPV broadcast taped as well. There was overall more energy at that show, though this was a very good percussive solo too from David.

When you're on a tour playing the same songs EVERY night, you are bound to change things up from time to time...unless you just want to read everything.

  • This by far is one of Sting's best bands outside of The Police and the Blue Turtle band. Dominic Miller is one of the best guitarist on the planet.

  • The musics nice but the solo quite stinks..not like the real doctone kenny at all

  • You so ironical viewer, but 'bout solo....must've exactly stinks!

    but that's Kenny Kirkland!

  • I agree. David's a great player, but this solo is below average. Certainly when you compare it to Kenny's..

  • ...three chords on the baseline and listen to what it has grown to.

Yes, we all know it well, but we enjoyed it... again.

  • Yes,we shouldn't forget the first impression!

  • This is the Soul Cages touring band. A serious group of players. Sting-Bass/Vox,Davis Sancious-Keys/Guit., Dominic Miller-Guitar and the one and only Vinnie Colauita-Drums.I saw them in NashVegas. The keyboard player plays a mean guitar.

  • Yeah,David played Purple Haze!

  • is this vinnie colaiuta on drums? ....

  • indeed, this is vinnie colaiuta on drums!

  • Thanks for posting these, doctone! This is one of Sting's best periods as a solo artist.

  • I agree completely!!!
