Fuel injected in 1990. I thought these large engines stayed on carburetors and distributors for a very long time, since these engines did not have to meet emission standards.

you should annotate that its a TBI engine (Throttle Body Injection). Its a fuel injection system where the fuel is injected in to the throttle body like a carb, only its electronic. GM did this quite a bit on truck motors in the early 90s
