Oh my! What a great cover. The Black Kites offered a great tribute with Lucretia, My Reflection as well. In both instances the bands are offering something new and fresh to the sound, not simply mimicking it.
This is probably one of the most brilliant covers I've ever heard. Lambchop has done what every band should do when playing covers, they made it their own.
@badsign1980 I don't understand. Is this cover the only song you've heard by them? While this isn't a bad cover, if all Lambchop's music sounded like this cover, I wouldn't be into them. Thing is, they have a lot of songs that are truly their own. If you're actually interested, I would look at "Up With People" and "The Man Who Loved Beer". I am not saying you'll like these... I am saying these are examples of talent.
This is what covers are SUPPOSED to be - none of this its-the-exact-as-the-original-just-with-different-musicians rubbish. Why bother covering a song if you're not going to do anything with it and make it your own?
Young people commonly confuse volume with intensity. That's not surprising. I'd just suggest you revisit this version when you have a few more years under your belt and a deeper and wider sense of what "corrosion" means.
This is a cover by musicians that are either too lazy or too untalented (or both) to give it the bombast and technicality it deserves.
This is not an "easy-listening" song for your grandparents to play at their next bridge game--despite these hacks who would like you to think otherwise.
Lambchop are having concert in my town these days so I was searching youtube for some of their songs and found this cover. I love Sisters and the original song but I think this is brilliant. Love it.
@rabbikirshbaum: It does. I couldn't put my finger on it, but his voice seemed so familiar. I would love to hear Blixa's take on it, but I adore this cover regardless.
Hear them do this live. They started off even quieter and calmer and had a truly explosive ending. I'll try to post the bootleg in the future. I've been to hundreds of concert, but Lambchop doing this song beat anything hands down....

He sounds just like Blixa Bargeld. The whole song sounds like the Einstürzenden Neubauten made it.

Case in point: 9/10 it's best to make a cover entirely unlike the original. I might look into this band.

What genre would this cover be? It sound sort of like Jazzy Folk.

Being a SOM fan, I must recognize that this cover is a piece of art. Try the In Extremo one if you prefer Metal...

@R391s No, Don't try that, that cover might be the worst cover I have ever heard. The video is hilarious however.

Best Sisterscover I've ever heard. The best covers are those that reinvent the original, which this one does.

I'ts interesting to hear such a minimal take on such a layered original.
PDXCHawk 3 years ago 4
The sisters have done some great covers - Jolene, Emma, Gimme Gimme etc and reinvented those songs.
About time someone returned the compliment with a bit of creativity instead of the usual goth crap.

Its good...
Best of it, is this isn't a copy of a better product.
It can stand on its ound.
You don't even have to be fan of the original to like this...
One remark:
Eldritch its lyrics don't really match the sound...
Like a businessman deciding to wear skullsocks with his suit. ;)
