  • amigo, to com um spitfire e o montador colou um adesivo q nao era pra por, como faço pra retirar sem danificar a entelagem, é um kyosho 50

    abraço

  • Great video overview of covering technique! I like that it was fast because I could get the gist of it very quickly.

  • ow that was help ful to me thank you

  • wow! i wonder what he used and what the weight is comment on my channel plz.

  • I just had one question! I have a very old glider which was covered using a sort of silky fabric, and i can't find how to apply it to the wing for repairs. Great video by the way!

  • going to cover my first glider. great video. looks like it isn't as hard as i thought

  • @shemraschke first 3-5 time its hard this take time to learn

  • The covering is called monokote or ultra kote which is lighter. The iron is what his using to stick and shrink it tight. you can use a sock to cover the iron so it will not burn the covering or stick to it. practice on scrap then you will get a feel for how much heat to use.

  • nice video thanks 1 question - how hot is your iron: low, med, or max/high?

  • @BionicSam Depends on the Monokote you use.

  • ok, and that makes sense. Great video keep it up.

  • Bravo? Jim...mission réussie...!

  • Nice job man good clean look.

  • WOW, that is skill. I have used Ultrcote covering as well as monokote. I like the ultracote because it is really easy to work with. I found that the monokote was hard to get to shrink using heat. the ultracote was really easy to get rid of rinkles. My question is....first, what is the name of this covering material. Second, does this stuff shrink rather easily like ultracote, or is more on the side of monokote?

    thanks!,

    dave

  • It is Oralight from Germany. It stik and shrink well and it is very light because of very thin coat of color...hence transparent look.

  • @modeltrain9500 hey, u sound like u know tonnes about building stuff. can u help me plz? i am about 2 buy a rc cessna 182 skylane and it is a balsa plane. the stuff this guy used in the vid what is it calles and what is the other tool he is holding? is it easy to build a wing for a plane?

    Thanks alot

    Rav

  • Very good.

  • nothing wrong with this video. Well Done !excellent demonstration :)

  • would be an informative video if you slowed it to normal speed and got rid of the gay ass music and explained what the guy was doing......so sick of music videos on youtube.

  • Normal speed is way over 10 minutes, and youtube accept only 10 min long videos.

If you feel that music is annoying (Mission impossible), you can always turn audio off.

  • @ultralajt but we would like to hear you tell us all about the features and properties of this Oracover, and explain how you are connecting it to the frame

    interesting still

  • @Ignantredneck : You have a choice. Don't watch the video. I'm sick of people like you that complain. If you don't know how to cover a wing after this video, find another hobby.

  • I have a question that needs to be answerd IMEDIATELEY!! (it's kind of urgent...) I have seen a few videos on how to cover a wing now, and I have always seen ppl use this special iron. But i don't have one and I am dying to know if I can just use a normal iron instead?!

  • Yes you can use ! Set it to Silk and reset if ncesarry!

  • THANKYOU!! Now all my questions have been answerd and I finally have the go-ahead to begin building my rc plane! I've been planing this for a month now, with this being the last unanswerd question I had.

I've even drawn my own plans and everything but I had no idea exactly what materials I would use, because of this...

Btw. that brings me to another question. If I were to build everything out of balsa, including the fuselage, would I have to cover the fuselage the same way as I cover the wing?

  • 5/5

  • 10/5 hes really good

  • can anyone tell me please how to put on the film on a plane wing, as i have a cut it the orignal cover and have 2 rolls of film but dont know what to do, Do you have to iron it on??

can you use a normal iron??

    thanks

    curtis

  • where are the alierons

  • how do you hide the seems when using to pieces of covering of the same color? example: going from the top of the wing to the bottom around the leading edge?

  • Always cover the bottom of the wing first. Bring the covering to the front of the leading edge, then cover the top and tuck the front of the covering about 1-2 inches under the leading edge so the wind won't blow your covering open. This is how I do it on 35%-40% airplanes

  • nice job, sir!

normally we only get pictures in forums but thanks youtube we´re able to do videos about almost everything and upload them to share with those who are interested.

    tso, thanks for sharing!

  • looks good!!! I like the 2 tone job.

  • what tools are you using?

  • Muy bueno...

  • cool

  • GR8!

    Nice job!

  • Looks like you have done that before!.

    Nice job

  • what kit it that?

  • covering straight forward wings is actually the easy part. when you have compound surfaces that you absolutely don't want creases showing, like a p-51 forward the canopy, practice practice, practice. and a lot of head scratching patients to master it.

  • what was the actual time elapsed here??? nice job!

  • The video is speeded up 3 times.

  • well this video makes it look easy...good job!

  • That is a really nice job, how long does it take to build something like that?

  • using ca glue about half an hour per wing if its complex and about15 minuates to cover it

  • Damn he is fast!

    Nice vid.

  • can we see it fly??

  • Open "More From: Ultralajt" and search for two wideos.

    One is Rocky electric glider

    and other is

    Rocky on a seashore

  • thanks ,,, good video..

what is the cover name and whrer can i find it in the net ?

  • Thankyou very much for this, you have just saved me some money.

If you was going to just do yellow, would you still double up on the covering, like the red, or you just did that for a 2 tone color ?

  • Daktana69, that is actuially the purpose of my video :)... to save money and avoid frustrations.

Yes, it could be done allso in one color and one double size piece of covering foil. But, when work with one piece, you should be more careful, not to get many wrinkles on second side.

  • Wow, you are fast. I takes me at least twice as long to cover my wings :-)

  • Video is speed up 3x, othervise it would be boooring....

  • What was that heat thing you used in the vid. What else could you use for it.

  • It is heating iron specially designed for modellers. It is easier to use that ordinarry household iron, because of its size, shape, handle designa nd better regulation of temperature.

It can be purchased in hobby shops.

  • Thank you for this video!

  • that's what the country song said "Less talk and more action".......

  • I won't need a heat gun, or are heat guns for larger surfaces???

  • You can remove some wrinkles using heat gun, but you can overstreech the film fast and tension will twist or deform the balsa construction.

  • ...You can use heat gun for covering large sandwich wings (Balsa/styrofoam/balsa) in such way, that you heat the covering and pres it down to balsa using soft fabric patch or fabric gloves.

But I recommend iron more than heat gun, as with iron, you have more controll aver the temperature (energy transfered to the covering.

But the most important of all is : "Practice, practice...."

  • Great video - easy to follow and there's new things I learn each time I watch it.

I noticed this time, when you trim the excess red film, you hold the angle of the razor away from the yellow and then seal it down. Very useful!

I hope my covering job turns out as good as that... Well done!

  • Very useful and educational

  • whats the cover material where can I buyt it?

  • Please read the description. It tells you exactly what he used. Google will tell you where to buy it. :)

  • Wow, you did a really good job on that wing! Keep it up, five stars. :)

  • what's the tool?

  • The tool is "Heat sealing tool" and it is like a small electric iron adopted for heat shrinking the monocote, oracover and similar brands of heat shrinking coverings for rc models.
