I got a response from a random person once that shapes my view of how horrible Vietnam must have been. I was about 14 and in high school with plans to join the military as soon as I could, so when I saw a man with a Vietnam veteran hat on I told him I planned on joining to serve like he did, I thanked him and gave him a hoorah. He looked at me, scoffed and said "you just have no fucking idea kid". I served during 2003 when we invaded Iraq, I was naive but now I see the truth.Freedom is not free.
