7632bill: Apples and oranges (and bananas and kiwis, etc.) is kinda the point, isn't it? It's about options, options that the bookstore doesn't offer its students. I mean, bookstores lead students to believe that the price is fixed and that the books should or must be bought from the campus store. But there's a whole world out there (not just Amazon either) with options such as used, rentals, international editions, eBooks, This shows the choices and lets students make their own decisions.
Firstly, you missed the apostrophe. It should be "You're" not "Your". I don't expect you to understand that, but check out "Eats shoots and leaves" on Amazon for $2.50. You probably prefer to pay the $12 retail.
Second, you also missed the POINT! There are multiple deals available online for prices that are way lower than what you pay retail. If you know what book you are going to buy, why would you ever go to a bookstore.
Your comparing apple and orange prices. One of the titles you compare on Amazon marketplace had all the prices were from foreign sources and no verification the book is actually new and contains all components.
