Well... yes... basically they kept only the ones that the Catholic church liked.... all others where suppressed not because they where not authentic or because they wouldn't be relevant - but simply cause they contained stuff the catholic church didn't like... But some bibles do have some of the apocrypha... my bible has some....

If you have read the bible the Apocrypha isn't in the same style and is not in harmony with the inspired works.. The book of Enoch is maybe inspired BY gods deeds etc. but it not inspired directly by him. There is many points i could list far too many to put in here but feel free to ask me.. I don't doubt that the catholic church would quickly get rid of any book they had too tho haha

But for the majority of them what you said simply doesn't apply at all. The Gospel according to Thomas for example is the only record from that period of time that we have which records portions of what Jesus actually thought and said. Yet still it was suppressed by the church. Also it's in perfect harmony with the rest of the Bible.

I don't think it was written down at the time when Jesus was on earth but rather many generations later and even if it really records some of what Jesus said, it's probably inaccurate, vague, fragmented and completely out of context. But the same holds true for almost all the canon texts of the Bible as well. BTW: what do you mean with "heterodox texts"? Everything the church disproves it calls heterodox. But the ultimate judge isn't the church is it?

The king James bible is known for it's many mistakes hence why it's always being revised. While I do think the study of extra-biblical books is interesting, the book of enoch was NOT essential to early Christianity. While it is true that it is referred to in the book of Jude, most church fathers did not think it was cannonical.

Furthermore, the Nephilim were not necessarily Angels. Many views hold them to be the unrighteous descendants of Cain, Adam's evil son.

But I kind of agree with you on the KJV, I prefer the ESV myself.

@tuxi187 Enoch has no place in the bible, The bible is inspired by god to instruct man. The book of Enoch may maybe inspired by gods deeds etc but is deffinately not inspired directly by god. Also if you read the scriptures all the way thoug then read the book of Enoch the writing style is not the same also the book of Enoch goes in depth about a lot of things that aren't really relevant to the whole point of the bible. One example is 1 Enoch 72 – 82 which is quite in-depth about astronomy

We know that he fought and won many battles that are not detailed in scripture. The book of enoch isn't an apostate book its more secular history, it was quoted by jesus because it was historically accurate.Also the book of Enoch names the demons I very much doubt that god would want them or their deeds specifically recorded in scripture

There is nothing to indicate that the apostles(or Jesus) used the book of Enoch as anything more than a reference material. There are plenty of other books in the Apocrophya that were not used by the apostles. They were not a part of the original Torah.
