Natalie Cole survived her drug addiction only because her mother took custody of her son and her finances so that she could be institutionalized for a long time. While I'm a fan of Natalie Cole's, I remember when she did this and I was REALLY turned off. Natalie Cole survived her drug addiction only because her mother took custody of her son and her finances so that she could be institutionalized for a long time. She should have been more understanding towards Amy and her incredible talent instead of being a pontificating snot. She could have reached out to Amy Winehouse, if she'd truly wanted to help her. But, addict or not, Amy deserved this win.

Consider this for a moment, what if your child,friend,niece,nephew saw Amy perform live and decided that in oder to be know or be liked you must publicly humilate yourself and down play your talent for the laughter of others? Back to Black was not only one of the most brilliant albums of the year...if not the most brilliant..it is also one of the best albums in recent music history. Amy received those Grammys to celebrate her talent. Because the real truth is that Back to Black was not necessarily a blockbuter seller here in the U.S. It did well, but could hve done better. So it's hardly money their after. The album is brilliant.

i dont agree. the whole point is, a person should not be judged by appearance or how healthy you are just to get a grammy award, then it wouldn't be the grammys, more like the food pyramid awards. so natalie should not judge. she is not in the position to judge. and she must have forgotten about what happened to herself. amy's winning the big 5 would be a motivation for her to get well. i don't think her life would be jeopardized like brittany's, she is stronger than that.

I agree particularly with the last points you made. There are more PAST grammy recipients who have had drug or alcohol issues than we will ever know, and plenty that we do know of. I wonder if any of them a)have been so honest about who she is,flaws and all,and b)had the intense media attention focused on her.
And as you stated Amy Winehous didn't give herself the awards. She won them based on her undeniable talent. I,for one,don't listen to her music because of her behavior.
