sitting on the floor - it's very dirty. Also, you would be in the way of people standing. Think about how much area you take up by sitting instead of standing.

Drinking on a train - in case of spills, of course they don't want people to drink/eat on the train. In America, they don't allow food on the Bart so it's the same as America.

If you just think about other people using the train, you can see how your actions can be considered as bad manners.

I don't understand why putting on makeup on a train or drinking something is bad manners. Are you supposed to sit there and stare straight ahead with a blank look on your face and not talk to anyone??? How robotic. I'm all for good manners and everything but jeez... sometimes it's okay to lighten up a little :) of course the hentai issue is a different story altogether. That is just disgusting, insulting, derogatory, wrong wrong wrong etc...

A friend of mine was once harassed in such a manner in the subway. I was standing beside her and I saw the pervert who did it so I started screaming on him and pushing him away from her and my friend joined, then all the people in the car joined and on the next stop we kicked him out...

But that fool forgot his case with his documents, and we decided that it would be right to punish him by burning it (coz police is far from being effective with those cases).
