  • The 4 dislikes are from people who wanted the video to be better quality because noone in the world could disapprove of the music

  • I must say a great introduction by the host to capture the essence of what we were about to see!!

  • It's amazing nd everything, but dangerous?

  • @dvdsmlprstylr You wanna try to do this in front of a live audience and TV cameras? Too fucking right this is dangerous. There is a major crash hovering over every note. They are BOTH playing like the devil and they have to stay synched. Watch it again, look how fast their fingers are going... and they are doing it together. This is an insanely difficult piece of music.

  • @USERNAMEfieldempty I suppose.

  • I think I died! This is too much! Teary listening to this incredible music.

  • Really, really good!!!

  • Depressingly good for those of us who can only aspire to such greatness. My wife just said "so that's how the piano should sound

  • I might as well take a chainsaw to my piano and use it for firewood, because I'll never be this good. XO

  • It's a shame that the video and audio are not that great, because this absolutely fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ok my fillings are rattling!!! That kicked ass!!

  • Great

  • David Sanborn? Wow... I totally forgot about this show! Great memory! One of my favorite Sanborn performances was David (leading the lounge band in the hotel) in True Lies, when Arnold rides his horse (in persuit of bad guy), startling Sanborn & his band! Funny days!

  • Fantastic music, I only wish there was a higher quality version. :/

  • 8 cuts in 3:26 of footage. holy crop!

  • omg can you imagine what the sheet music for this would look like? hahaha awesome duet!

  • Virtuoso alright, but can't fill Albert's & Pete's shoes for a second.

  • damn EPIC duo :)

  • i think this music is taking back the limelight because i'm only 15 and really enjoy playing and listening to this music

  • :| chiar ca e fantastic..."rup clapele" aia ... wai cat de tari is :X

  • OOOWEEEE! Damn, play that piana!

  • last time I head Dr J do anything like this was on Marylin McPartlan's show 'Piano Jazz'. A hour of her a the Dr chatting about the music, & ending it up with a complex jazz duet like this. I've still go a old casette tape of that show.

  • so amazing!!!

  • My dad's from new orleans, so I grew up with the doctor-

Saw him live last year. He came out on stage in a purple suit, with a gold cane, and he could play and sing with as much energy as he could then. Tha man has CLASS!

  • I'd a took the right road

But I must have took a wrong toin

  • Fantastic-the Doctor is without peer and Jools is always a musical delight.

  • OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Now THAT"S what I'm takin about!

  • Just incredible! Boogie woogie rules!!

  • Why don't musicians do this kind of thing anymore? This is awesome. =D

  • ooooh goosebumps !

  • Great stuff Doc ,Love Ya

  • rowanmcd - fool - Pete Johnson & Allbert Ahmends...

  • This is so amazing its getting me dancing in my seat

  • Europe lol; This music is American!

  • uhh... yeah, except this music is american... moron.

  • Those boys are damn crazy!

  • they arn't dead

  • Dr John and Jools Holland are great enough on their own, but putting them together you get gold my friend pure GOLD

  • @notraep BETTER THAN GOLD!!!

  • Wow!

  • Bergunthera: No, Sanborn isn't being sarcastic. He apparently likes to intellectualize about music, and he's got a really dry presentation.

  • fkin great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • jools holands still alive

i went to see him at the echo arena the other day

  • damanding AND dangerous? whats the worse that can happen?

  • Jools Holland what a legend!

  • Good Stuff!

  • beauteously splendicent

  • this is mind-boggling

  • I can't tell whether the introduction is meant to be sarcastic or not, someone help me out

  • I adore Dr John. I hope to see him playin in Europe

  • incredible!! and I thought I was getting good at the piano!!

  • oh yes!!

  • Comment removed

  • one word;

    flawless.

  • Absolutely fantastic.

  • so awesome! :D

  • just perfect !!!!

  • this one is called the boogie woogie dream originally performed by albert ammons and pete johnson

  • I can't believe this... thhis is SOOO in tune... perfect!

  • Went to see Jules Holland at a garden party concert outside a stately home near London and it was absolutely brilliant. No problem getting right up to the stage within 20 feet of him and dancing like crazy.

By contrast, went to see Mark Knopfler - a lifelong dream of mine to see him live - at the NEC Birmingham and it was like being in fucking school. Couldn't move without a Nazi-Steward keeping you in your seat. They even stopped a girl boogying in her seat! Never go to the NEC ever again.

  • I just listened to both players and John has a more solid timing while Jules has monster technique, he is slightly ahead of the beat but it he played with this method and came back on the beat and even got behind it he would have shown true genius. The Dr. is the best.

  • albert ammons & pete johnson would have loved this, pure boogie woogie pleasure.

  • What can you say ?

Cant be beaten until you hear Jools play boogie on a harpsichord.

    Have a look for "beatroute"

    Tip Top

  • jools holland! what a legend!! :D

  • Dr. John is almost the best piano player in his style !

  • Ooo I'm all tingley :) I love it!

  • that is like what can i say, i am speechless, there are no words, but to say if you have a goal to reach, just follow your heart.

  • that's absolutely great...

    can't say it with words

  • as per the host's warning... Do not try this at home. You will put yourself at deep risk of..... actually scratch that comment like the person said before the host is just a moron.

  • Loved it, just loved it. Just skip in a minute after that moron stops speaking and its all good. A-Mazing!

  • If you want to see the same clip in better quality and without the "moron" (which I think was a little harsh!) then type the following into the search bar: "Four-hands boogie woogie, Dr John & Co."

  • What year is this?

  • it's from the mid to late 80's.

  • this is sOooo good! what a performance!

  • U can't believe alliis2 never new nothing about boogie woogie..im 15 and play it.

  • i don't really think it's that difficult as far as duets go. in comparison to some classical duets, this is really just foreplay!

  • i should clarify that i didn't mean this was smth easy for ME to do. i meant on a professional level. it's not at all "one of the most difficult and dangerous" far from that.

  • i agree with you but its soo entertaining tho!

  • That was a top class performance.

  • What the hell is he talking about nearly EXTINCT ? In Europe Boogie is growing fast again. These guys are awesome..

Try Fess, and Tuts Washington plus Alan Tousaint VHS Called "Piano Players Rarely Play Together'' available on Amazon Fantastic Three Pianos plus the life story of Professor Longhair "Fess" well worth watching.

  • well i dont actually no anyone who likes boogie

  • yeah i no i think that presenter knew fuck all about piano to be honest its so easy to tear apart his every sentence

  • Hey Hannes87: Indeed it is. Good eye.

I said it before and I'll probably say it again at some point: this is one of the most entertaining clips online.

  • Is that David Sanborn?

  • wooooooooow... i only play classical piano and know nothing about this style whatsoever...but i am so amazed by this performance!! thanks for posting this kbelna

  • Saw Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra at Westonbirt Arboretum last night - what a fantastic show that was! Jools ROCKS

  • sooooo good. love that bass line throughout never even wavers for a second just pure brilliance.

  • Totally wonderful!!! I still have goose pimples running up and down my body from listening to these two incredible perfomers!!

  • Tenes alguna duda???

  • amazing totally amazing 5 star no brainer

  • Thank you for posting this. What an amazing performance. Makes me smile just listening to it. Somehow the world is ok, when there's music like this.

  • extra

  • WO(W!!!!

  • Fantastic! But actually, to good for words...:))

  • :O ..... (sorrry i cant speak right now )

  • I'm currently learning jazz piano, does anyone know where I can learn good jazz piano for free?

  • Hi, if you're meaning boogie woogie, please check out the Youtube boogie lessons by a user called "freakyhead20"...!

  • I believe that Angels in Paradise don't play the piano any better than those two gents. Incredibly good. Thank for posting, kind Soul.

  • Jool's an ACE!!!

  • Always good to see the masters playing!

  • wow, oh my god, superb, seen em both live.but together

  • It doesn't get much better then that :)

    Thanks you legends

  • Ich spiel genau so gut klavier

  • how old is this clip?

  • i wish i had been there

  • oh my fucking god

I wih I was jools holland

  • Dr John is the better Blues player but Jools is awesome, no doubt.

  • Would someone introduce this learned gentleman to the numerous examples of boogie woogie duets posted on YT of "this demanding and dangerous, almost extinct artform, thats not been seen for many many years, played by a handful of people left on Earth with the skill and courage"!!

  • Being a boogie pianist myself, I actually like his comment :P

I puts a certain "label" on boogie woogie pianists ! hehe

  • why tdid the pesentrer say it was dangeroiuse

  • That was shit hot. The fact that Jools could start the ending riff down the piano and Dr John could just hit the 2 last chords like he did was just sublime...thats the way to play a duet. Anyway...I`m off to take up some other instrument :(

  • rip a rooney...alreety...

thanks what swellin` triumphs on the 88s

  • It's always a pleasure watching / playing a Boogie-woogie duet! On my own behalf, I definately think duets give me more inspiration than playing alone, since it's much more fun and "free". Terrific duet!!
