There is no video of this balloon zooming off into orbit at hyperspeed. It's just a clip of a balloon shaped like a stereo-typical UFO saucer, floating above a park somewhere.

It goes into focus at about the same distance as the houses, and when he shifts from the cloud and the mountains (focus for far away objects) the object is way out of focus.

this means that the object is way closer than the clouds, and it is also way smaller than you might imagine.

Maybe. I thought it was something hanging from the telephone wires. If you look at 1:34 - 1:35, I could be wrong but it looks to me that the focus on the wires goes in and out exactly with the focus on the 'object.' Leading me to believe they are the same distance. The wires go in/out of frame so fast, it's hard to tell.

"since when do balloons look ..." Balloons come in all shapes and sizes and can be custom made. So ...a balloon most certainly could be constructed to look like that easily enough. The flight characteristics appear to be that of a balloon 'adrift'. The saucer does not seem to be displaying controlled flight but is tumbling. Ultimately it is an unknown. It could be what it appears to be.
