  • great tune this man snag his way out of prison twice---------#$%^&^**&(__~GOD~OF~DEBAUCHERY~

  • Finally I found a real version..not exactly the same as the movie...but the emotion is still there...and it is still better than the crap they produce today....thanks for the upload....

  • Though Leadbelly wrote many great songs, I remember hearing "Birmingham Jail " before Leadbelly became known in the 1940s. I think Leadbelly served time in Texas and Louisiana.

As for the pictures I saw men on the chain gang when I was very young.

    deralteist

  • didn't realize just how many songs were ripped-off from guys like leadbelly...if he was alive today,he'd be a millionare. The pictures are hard to look at in this video-they make a strong point.

  • @snowy16100 i dont think he cared for money, back then it was about playing, not money unlike these days

  • He sang to stay out of jail a few times. The Governor loved his songs

  • NO Lead Belly NO Beatles- I didnt make that up George Harrison did! Go to the indiegogo site & look up leadbellyfilm

  • love the stir crazy version and this is FAR F**KING OUT. love

  • @JDurden33 :) ... You most definitely get a true feeling of the meaning of this song when Leadbelly sings it, being that he himself had experienced time in jail.

    Glad you enjoyed!

  • @JDurden33 i got here from the stir crazy movie. great stuff.
