Switch the pushrods for scotch yokes. Also, using tiny segments of flextube and a drill you can make a jam jar into an air tank. I'm currently working on a 2 cylinder engine to power a walker, and a jam jar can give you a long time running hands free.
ALSO! Use a bike pump. For each revolution, you will have to pump twice with your current set up, and that's ignoring latency.

i think it is so much cooler that you do it with a "hand-compressor" makes the question of why to build an engine when you already have an engine much easier to argue.

i have a tip for you. if you modified the cilinders and the switches. put some wd40 on the cilinders. then it runs very good. i love this engine!
