Only if we had do some Research and devlopment with Batteries instead of Gazoline and diesel engine. At the momment we would have a 100 kg battery capable to go up to 800 miles with a tope speed of 260 km and 0-60 miles in 2 second.

Based on the AP video, this car puts out over 700 foot/pounds of torque off the line. I have to think that subtracting 600-700 pounds of batteries from the rear end would actually hurt your hole shot, even though it would obviously improve top end.

nope, weight on the wheels does not give better traction.Yes it might give more static traction, but at the expense of added inertia, and it is inertia that will try to hold the car in place while you accelerate, giving the need for better traction. take weight out and everything just works and goes faster....

since there is almost no weight on the front end since all the dead weight iron of the i.c.e. and tranny are gone the rear doesn't need weight for traction. the dead heavy weight if an engine and tranny is why a 2wd truck spins out on hard packed snow

Meh, petrol cars are for drama queens. This electric dragster does it's business and then at the end sits back and folds its arms like nothing happened. Whilst petrol acts tough and aggressive but all you get is hot air and lousy torque curves. Electric is coming out (again after 100 years of suppression), so obviously it won't beat petrol in regards to range currently (Duh!). But once we find a way with improving range, electric all the effing way!

Umm.. say that when the zombie eats a motor again, its a light show nobody forgets. Or the time john dropped a wrench intot eh battery pack and nearly burnt the car to the ground. Then there was the night the contactor welded itself shut and the throttle stuck wide open. The car went 400ft with the front tires locked up before the motor fuses popped. The tires were a total loss, flat spotted to the cords.

@neoartifact Not always.  It does on occasion send a few batteries up in a blaze, or blow the armeture off the motors in an event called a "flash over." An electric arc is a thread of plasma. Because plasma is matter with no electrons, electrons travel through it with little resistance, meaning, an arc is conductive. Once an arc starts in the motor, it "flashes over" as the entirety of the motor is converted to plasma.

torqueXrpm/5252=hp. hp is the product of force(torque) and rpms which is potential work done. When someone says they have a torquey motor they should say they have lots of hp down low in the rpm band. Is hp at low rpms better than hp at high rpms is all about math. Having 500hp between 2k-3k is better than 500hp between 3k-4k. It's hard to explain and has a lot to do with gearing.

Try just going a few blocks in a gas car without spewing poisonous gasses and supporting foreign oil. EVs can already go over 200 miles with zero emissions. 'gas in the tank'? Youve been breathing your car's exhaust a little too long :-) Let's see a gas car run 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and an 11 second 1/4 mile at zero emissions while getting the equivalent of 150 mpg!

Is the motor/s brushless? How much does a motor like that cost? I race brushless electric cars and boats with lithium polymer batteries. I got a 1/10th scale car that'll do 70mph and a boat that'll do between 50 and 60mph so it's cool to see real cars with similar power sources. Do you have problems with all that instant torque breaking things like driveshafts?
