the Beatles and Floyd were actually next door to each other in the same studio recording Piper and Sgt. Pepper at the same time! They'd look in on each other and likely get ideas and inspiration. Oh, to have a time machine...
@7Saburo That's my story too. I felt I couldn't say Pink Floyd was one of my favorite bands if I never heard their early material. Dark Side of the Moon is a masterpiece though. I finally got it after I've been trying to for a long time.
had my 1st trip last night...who did i see only Syd..yeap thats why Im here.......For All The Time Spent In That Room,The Dolls House Darkness,Old Perfume
The Beatles invited Pink Floyd over to watch them record Lovely Rita while Pink Floyd was recording Matilda Mother. Paul McCartney absolutley loves The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn.
maybe don't THE album of 67 (velvet underground and nico, the doors, parable of arable land was a little better) but yes one of the greatest of 60's and of all times, and absoultely important masterpiece of rock.
@luks655 He was commenting on the fact that you see things very differently as child than you do as an adult , so something , like a children's story (which, by the way is what the song is supposed to be about) holds a kind of magic and mystery that is lost when you read it as an adult. there's a lyric in comfortably numb that's quite similer in meaning: "the child is grown, the dream is gone"
@sheogoraththemad Lucky bastard! ;p But I a few months ago i bought "The Dark Side Of The Moon" first relase England in great shape + Poster PF + Escape from Domination by Moon Martin (it's shitty album... but it was gratis :p)for 7$. It's my the best occasion so far in buying vinyls.
@KapitanBomba102 I have a copy from the 1980s--my late cat did severe damage to the front cover, but the actual vinyl's still great. This should be reissued on 180g vinyl, definitely.
@KapitanBomba102 And it sounds so much better on analog mastered vinyl with a good pressing (go for UK or Japanese -- probably less generations and the full "Astronomy Domine" for UK; very high quality control for Japanese). Way, way more depth and "atmosphere" than 44.1 kHz digital.
One Floyd freak who heard the vinyl for the first time asked if I had surround sound -- but nope, it was just stereo, with big 'ol speakers with 15 inch woofers.
Great song
