  • My granpa grew up at the same Penny Lane they are talking about XD

  • god i love them

  • wtf is a mac

  • Crack was well known in the 60's, it was listed as a Schedule 1 drug in the United Nations Narcotic Convention in the early 60's. However you are right, Poppy's yeild Opium, so that was a freudian slip on my part.

  • OMG! I FOUND A BEATLES SONG UPLOADED ON MY BIRTHDAY!!! OMG THIS IS AMAZING!

  • @Worldchamps1966 At least your logic sounds good, but for the Pretty Nurse. I agree with @MissouriJohnson.

  • This song is all about sex. The barber is a bloke who has lots of sexual partners, the banker slept with the town whore and got her pregnant as he never wore a condom (never wears a mac) as so everyone takes the mick out of him. The fireman likes to masturbate ( he like to keep his fire engine clean). "Fish and finger pie" is reference to a guy putting his hands in female genitalia, and the pretty nurse selling poppies is a crack whore.

  • @Worldchamps1966 Although I find your analogies intriguing. The pretty nurse would have been an opium addict not a crack whore, since she was selling poppies and crack was unknown in 1967. Otherwise, you logic is spot on! Well done.

  • @MissouriJohnson I think Paul haven't heard about that, and @Worldchamps1966 and his logic about the song might turn into the new Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, except it's about sex, instead of seeing the sights of LSD, and Paul would have to correct people on that.

  • LOVEEEEE

  • i love this song¡¡ i listen to ir every day i want to cheer me up after a hard day of school and work

  • im singing this in chorus :D

  • 18 dislikes.........very strange

  • I turned 7 when this song reached the billboard top 100. Now 45 years later I'm playing David Masons piccolo trumpet solo on my B flat trumpet...

  • Those of u upset with people commenting...you do realize that you can enjoy the vid and NOT READ the comments. Just a simple penny lane thought.

  • On this date in 1967 {Feb. 25th} "Penny Lane" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; on March 18th it peaked at #1 {for 1 week} and spent 10 weeks in the Top 100...

    Ranked 55th on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 Singles of 1967 chart...

Released as a double A/sided record; the flip side was "Strawberry Fields Forever", it reached #8...

Was #1 in Canada and #2 on the U.K. Singles chart...

Later in 1967 {November} both sides were included on the Beatles' "Magical Mystery Tour" album...

  • that replay button is now my best friend

  • can people stop boasting on about how you're only 13 or whatever young age and that you like the beatles.

There's bound to be millions of three year olds out there that love the beatles because of yellow submarine and octopus's garden so YOU ARE NOTHING SPECIAL!!!

  • @doitanywayz Thank you i knew that i wasnt the only person being irritated by this, I dont give a damn what your age is, how you hate being born in this generation or how you hate todays music, why cant people just listen to the damn song

  • @doitanywayz REALLY. I'm sure many three year old children are enlightened enough to comprehend and listen to the Beatles for hours...c'mon now. Let's not bash other people for posting comments about their age, because, guess what, I'm almost 14 now, i could be 48, I'd still enjoy this song just as well. And honestly, you don't see much people our age playing the Beatles. Most of them haven't heard a full song.

  • Ok, this is really cliche, but whatever. 17 people people prefer Hay Penny Lane.

  • im just posting this comment for the future when im gone

"Like if youre listening to this song in 2135!"

  • In 1000000 years this song will be amazing as f*ck

  • The Beatles maybe over, but their music will be enjoyed for years, in 300 years, they'll still be remembered, Justin Bieber will lose his fans in 3 years most likely.

  • @AlexParcelI It's because The Beatles are a part of the "Big Six Immortals of Entertainment." The Big Six are Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Marilyn Monroe, The Beatles and Queen. They all are extremely popular, and everyone knows who they are. They are what you call household names. People like Beiber and Gaga and Katy Perry will fall in the same category as Crystal Waters, Snow and The Captain & Tennille. If you dont know who they are then you see my point.

  • i did it in a summer show n i were the barber ....... and i im a girl!

  • This song is "Music" 2 my ears!!

  • Who knew a song about a street would actually be good.

  • see this is the music that UNITED THE WORLD. lady gaga, lil wayne, and the biebs, not so much

  • @beckyatloserdotcom No doubt the music from 67ish to 75ish I believe to be the best. But "United the world"??????? A little overly dramatic don't you think??????? I'm 40 so I wouldn't know. Plus gaga is no slouch. Shes more than her shock value alludes to. Listen to the music. She's on par with a formidable career. Maybe not the beatles but who the hell is?

  • are u really a german math teacher

  • This song tickles my ears. So amazing. This is true music.

  • it could be in the year 2093 people will STILL be listening to this!

  • No one cares when you were born or if the band is still being listening to, all that matters is the fact that you know the best music ever.

  • i was born in 1962, and The Beatles are still cool.

  • As an astrologer who looked at the birth charts of the Beatles said - the combination of Libra (John), Gemini (Paul), Pisces (George) and Cancer (Ringo) was close to the most perfect example of 4 people who could not fail.

    And they didn't.

In fact, they changed music completely and forever.

PS: Its also interesting, and not surprising that they were all of Irish blood.

  • Age 12 and i love the beatles. They're music is so much better than today. They are all about love and like the world. All the music today is about sex and partying. I would choose 60's over 2000 anyday.(:

  • @jasminemarieblogs You just described me in every way. :)

  • @BoatingTurtle :D this made my day<3

  • @jasminemarieblogs

    I'm also 12 and I completely agree.

  • @AlexParcelI gooood.(:

  • 16 people did not see a banker selling photo graphs or firemen not owning a photo of the queen

  • when Im born Im gonna love this . Push mum push!

  • Not a trumpet. It is a french horn!

  • The awkward moment when I realized Penny Lane is a street's name.

  • Beautuiful trumpet solo!!

  • i am 12, and smart enough to LOVE The Beatles!

we sung this song in a chorus production at school, and Drive my Car

  • @misstuffbunny no one cares...really...

  • @barricade456 In defense of her, it's nice to hear this music continue to transcend generation barriers. My parents were born in the 40s, I in the 80s and my nephew in 2000. We all love their music.

  • i keep pennies in my wallet now

  • I was born Yesterday, And I Love This Song

  • good good

  • it is physically impossible to frown while listening to this masterpiece <3

  • 15 people went to quarter lane

  • 15 people missed the like button

  • 1995 owns xd

  • im born in 2000 in its still cool

  • @WackoStudios 2001 for me and they are not cool. THEIR AWSOME

  • Deutschmatheleher, I can't thank you enuff for makin' these videos.

  • sadly, this is the first time hearing this song...

    shame on me

  • @edmor77 be there no shame, for you have added to your extensive music collection.

  • my friend said he hated the beatles ..i slapped him. beatles for fucking ever :D <333

  • these guys trippin or what......

  • @allaroundxmenfour what the fuck are u talking about respect the legends u dont even know what the songs about.

  • @hye808 never said i didn't respect them. but often, they were trippen.

  • This song never gets old.

  • I love the way he says "In the pouring rain, very strange".

  • this song is the cutest song I ever heard <3 Love you John and the rest

  • @RapBrosProduction why should it matter when you were born? the Beatles' music was created for all age groups. I was born in 1997. Currently im in a fight with some of my friends on facebook about The Beatles, & a majority of us (4 people all my age) think the Beatles are awesome. Me & my friend (also my age) were arguing about who liked the Beatles more. Being young & liking the Beatles isn't a new concept

  • Im only 13 and i <3 the beatles peace

  • Like the chorus the best, some good lyrics except i don't think all the words are great, but this is a nice song

  • In Penny Lane there is a barber showing photographs Of every head he's had the pleasure to know And all the people that come and go Stop and say hello On the corner is a banker with a motorcar The little children laugh at him behind his back And the banker never wears a mac In the pouring rain Very strange Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes There beneath the blue suburban skies I sit and meanwhile back
  • Just fantastic, they were great days!

  • Well if you search there is a fair bit about this online . here's some of it..

Recorded during the Sgt. Pepper sessions, this is the first single paul wrote after he was introduced to LSD.

the Beatles intentionally stuffed this song full of inuendo "fish-and-finger pie" is a reference to fingering female genitalia, which obviously, are some what fishy smelling

"showing photographs of every head he's had the pleasure to have known," is pretty obvious.

  • The banker was a flasher - he never wore a mac (raincoat) in the pouring rain, because he wore it when it wasn't raining. The children laughed behind his back because they knew.

"keeps his fire engine clean" fireman masturbates rubbing it constantly, and Queen is a homosexual referance.

"In his pocket is a portrait of the queen" He's homosexual

    ,

  • Also portrait of the Queen in pocket on coins & bills,

he plays "pocket pool" fondling himself. digging for coins,

an excuse to cover his proclivity.

"pretty nurse selling poppies" may be a drug reference (heroin poppies) and "feels as if she's in a play" sounds like an LSD perception .

"A pretty nurse is selling poppies from a tray" is Remembrance Day (11th November) when poppies are sold and worn in honour of people killed in the First World War, so this may also be an anti-war reference.

  • <333

  • I want to live there in Penny Lane.

  • @gianpaullladoc Lol I do!

  • i grew up listining to the beatles i just sat here infront of my friends and sang it and they looked surprised that i knew it!!!

  • @iloveyouJamesMaslow there is a huge difference between the Beatles and Big Time Rush one being BTR is autotuned and would destroy this song given a chance while the Beatles had a talent like no other and will be remembered forever. People like Justin Bieber and BTR will be forgotten in time I mean just look at the Jonas brothers I never see them in the news anymore or let alone heard the name spoken. They fade away but legends never die.

  • @iloveyouJamesMaslow gross their gona totally ruin it

  • Beatles!!!! ;) 3

  • <3

  • I'm born in 1994 and The Beatles are still cool.

  • @RapBrosProduction same for me pal

  • ........ on the news a guy moved to penny lane and then died of a fire.

  • damn i love the trumpets soo much in this song

  • Toddlers and tiarras

  • @NROBable what does that have to do with anything?

  • @arcoirisbonitisimo One of the moms named their kid Penny Lane.

  • wow beatles

  • I love this song y

  • wow! this is my #3 favorate beatles song

  • pete best watched this 14 times!

  • I lived in Liverpool and there I learnt to love this song!

  • When I was a child I thought that "Penny Lane" was a woman :D

  • Haha a friend of mine was named Penny Lane after this song! :D

  • i remember this from when i was little.

  • yet another page on the beatles of people talking about how their opinion is the only one, and "who can dislike this song," again.... hell, even paul and john didn't like some of their own songs. guess their stupid too, huh? to much to ask for someone to engage in a critical analysis of their music or lyrics, (which would occur after research), probably. i'm so lonely.

  • And though she feels as if she's in a play, she is anyway.

  • Isnt it mat?

  • me and my freind love this song PENNY LANE ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is the song I heard when I was younger! finally found it, ever had a song you've heard over and over, but you never found out what it was? Great feeling to finally hear it after years

  • @TheFabFour410 how do you know it works if no onw died?

  • Comparing The Beatles to Justin Bieber is like comparing a fart to an ATOMIC BOMB.

  • @DaBomBGreenDay

    hehe...that rules.

  • the people that dislike this song can fucking die!!! BEATLES for life!!

  • @wannie45alday

If you feel that Beatles are in favour of life, that's great.....Therefore could you stop saying that people who don't like their work "can fucking die" ?

Given that John got killed by a creepy stalker....And George very nearly got killed by, erm, another creepy stalker....What are you?

  • 14 dislikes very strange

  • DeutschMatheLehrer I'm singing this song in my school chorus. This is pretty helpful. Thanks.

  • this is the first single paul wrote after he was introduced to LSD, notice how he switches fro A to B when he stops describing the physical penny lane and to the one that is this magical glistening haven - penny lanes is just a corner in liverpool ive visted it before and its cool, but really not that excisting as paul portays it in the bridge

  • @JumpSmoker27

The other thing that tipped me off was "Penny lane is in my ears and in my eyes". ;)

In all seriousness, that's actually pretty interesting. Thumbs up for you, dude.

  • @JumpSmoker27 Dude.. STFU your full of shit.

  • @JumpSmoker27 Penny Lane is probably cooler to Paul than it would be to an average Beatles fan because he grew up around it. You probably would've had to be in Penny Lane in it's heyday to really appreciate it.

  • This song reminds me of syracuse for sine strange reason.. =p

  • "If you know love, you got my note." -Penny Lane

  • obligation to listen to this damn song for music! y did they have to make this kind of song?

  • i love this song i love the beatles their songs are immortal their songs live for ever ...

  • Comment removed

  • We were taught this song and yellow submarine in year 4 at school, I've loved them ever since <3

  • The pornstar Penny Flame Choose these name because of music, cool ham ???

  • @Henrique70darthSith i think the bigger question there is how you would know that....

  • das lied ist echt geil

    the song is very graet

  • I never wear a Mac either. I'm a ThinkPad kind of guy.

  • @GregoryRCosta good one. =P

also i love the way they say "customer" at 2:04.

  • @stevarino1989 it's because he has a Liverpool accent. Jeremy Clarkson once made fun of Liverpool accents on Top Gear!

  • Whoaoaow what amazing lyrics, so complex and all!! lol

  • @communistjesus just shut up you perverted jerk and just listen to this AMAZING song...

  • @nikolas21498 I'm not even going to bother trying to find what communistjesus said, cuz I'm just not waistin my time

  • @nikolas21498

The banker with the motor car who keeps telling people that it's raining is the city of London ( gog ) due to get their heads removed.Penny lane ( in my ears and eyes refers to the bible when the Lord say " i have seen with my eyes and heard with my ears)

The fireman is hades - hades ( angel of death ) carries a time glass.

The barber is Jesus Christ and the pictures are of the good and bad saints in his house.

The Queen sits at the throne of gog.

  • @communistjesus Hey he is a barber when it says heads he's had the pleasure to have known it means that hes cut those persons hair, not that he had sex with them. so ya shut up its an amazing song.

  • @communistjesus your not funny

  • @Dearhunter43 thank you for your UNSOLICITED opinion,,,

  • @communistjesus What's wrong with you? You'r so so not funny!!! So just stop!

  • @communistjesus ಠ_ಠ

  • @communistjesus woowww....get a life and enjoy this song

  • @communistjesus shut up and if u were to listen to the song u would actually like it but i guess u wouldnt have the sense to do that because youre stupid. this is my favorite song in the world

  • @Pebbles13285 Try commas or a periods in your writings.. Trust me, you"ll enjoy them.. O.k??.. AWESOME,,

  • @communistjesus put one period in there.......that enough

  • @communistjesus Sorry to sound awfully rude, but you're wrong. How is that a gay reference?

  • i played this song in my high school marching band, i play trumpet and it was awsome

  • @brennaswimmz You guys are so dumb. I'm saying I hate the people that think their cool because they're young and like the Beatles..I'm one year older than you and I love them, but you don't need to say your age? You guys aren't really understanding what I'm saying...ahaha whatever

  • What's a mac? Sorry don't get the slang.

  • @insearyn i think its a coat....
