I had the same glitch, what did it for me was leaving the area, coming back and pressing 'A' a couple of times right infront of him after he finished a few phrases. Might not work in one go, but keep trying.

also, as far as not getting the door to even tell you what you need to get to open it...try pressing 'a' a few times...he'll keep telling you to go away but keep trying. i looked this up online and found it was the only solution that worked for me. other people said you might want to try wearing a few of the items you know he'll ask you to wear, but i dont think that it matters

for cheese you can go to any produce trader, i found mine at bowerstone market. for the mutton chops/mullet/handlebar mustache you can go to the barber at bowerstone market....but for dreadlocks you have to go to the barber in bloodstone. travelling clothing traders are usually in rookridge near the inn, but they are also in fairfax and brightwood and on the mountain near westcliff (among a few places).

-the chops (a beard style)

-gentlemen's shirt (or nobel blouse)

-tart skirt

wear these when meeting the demon door after bringing cheese and wait. IGNORE him when he asks you to go wear something else. after some time he'll beg you not to tell anyone and he'll open up. message me if you have any questions.
