  • I just got done with a workout where I got 8 reps on a weight where I'd been stuck on 5 reps for multiple workouts, and got out of a sticking point I'd never been able to overcome before just from the pointers in this video. Much gratitude.

  • Great video. I just goto back to training after 2 years off. I reached a 220 BP in 2 months, which is ok. But I was definetely ignoring the push of the leg drive. I pretty much used my legs as a way to "tighten up" that's it. I see now the real push you guys use. I'll try it tomorrow!! Thank you so much!!

  • Thanks for the instructions! I'm 38 and just starting from scratch--and by myself!

  • great info. when i arch like that it kinda hurts and i need to stretch..is this normal??ty

  • @Powerliftershawnr The gym I go to unfortunately has slippery benches and doesn't all chalk. What I wanted to know was when you drive your legs do your glutes move as well? Thanks.

  • @victim1z3d

What I used to do at my gym was wear a wife beater/tank top. Sometimes, I would even go into the bathroom and splash a little water on my upper back or shirt. The added moisture made me stick to the bench.

  • wow thanks shawn! this was without a doubt the BEST explination of leg drive i've ever seen. it's aconcept i've been struggling with for a really long time and this video helped A LOT!

  • Hey shawn thanks so much for your videos. I was wondering if you could explain how to keep the hips on the bench while driving and also how to use upper back and lats during the benchpress. Also what is your head and eye position on the bench and how do you breath when doing singles and going for reps. Thanks for making it through this and it would be great if you do some more videos... they are great! Thanks shawn.

  • brilliant vid mate :)

  • Thanx man, im going to try this at school.

Is a belt like yours necessary if i want to arch my back?

  • @charlesseek no, i personally don't recommend it unless you're using it to secure a bench shirt because it inhibits my arch.

  • amazing arch for a big guy

  • Love this video. Very clear with his explanation and step by step "guide".

  • Makes it more clear for me, thanks for uploading. I've heard about flexing glutes at the same time, does that help too?

  • great information bro!!
