  • simply fantastic bruh

  • Best version

  • This tribute album is too sweet

  • "Alright, that's cool."

  • Awesome mix man, just awesome! :)

  • Dem drums!

  • 3rd Strike Online edition of this remix should be BANNNED before Gill.

  • Very smooth remix.

I been thinking of doing some SF remixs starting with Jazzy Nyc

  • So many, and o so good

  • im loving this and the gouki rendition.great stuff

  • Kariu, you make some ill ass remixes, you should like send some of ur vids to capcom, u have great musical talent ^-^

  • It's not half bad but somehow does not feel special; just makes me want to listen to the original, a much better alternative to this. I think it's just because it sounds TOO much like Jazz, which isn't bad, just that it rarely leaves much of an impression on me. Maybe if it sounded more lively.

  • PERFECT!!!

  • Damn, dude, made me tear up in my eyes with this nostalgic joint! VERY SMOOTH AND VERY SOULFUL!!

  • 2 viewers failed to lay down some serious sound

  • This is a stupid dope remix.

  • this and the original are the only acceptable serious usages of fake saxophone

  • Well played sir, well played. Jazzy NYC seems to be bringing the best out of you DJs

  • Hey anyone knows where I can get this song or album?

  • This song is also good for some bball at the park.

    5/5

  • What sorta instrument is used that sounds like a police siren?

  • Oops. Meant to 5 star it. I mean, I'm with blackdragonB9Yo, I meant to give it a "10/5"! Mad props bro. Pure soul

  • dopeness!

  • i give it 10/5, this song broke my scale because of its awesomeness d-_-b FULL VOLUME!

  • ahhhh man I love that Funky Drummer sample!

  • Beautiful 5*'s

  • Love the Apache sampling. Why don't you do beats like these in your Geo Space Republic group? These 3s remixes are alot more break based which is always the best form of a Hip Hop beat.

  • Nice... do you guys do MvC2 music?

  • Wish I could DJ like that but I'm only limited to chop and screw and don't have studio equipment

  • You should work for Capcom.

  • all of your remixes are real smooth, keep up the good work

  • Much Respect. 5/5!

  • ((d-_-b))

    5/5 No Doubt

  • Hey, man, where can I get this album?

  • time to lay down some seroius sound....

  • dis is good stuff. need to make an mp3 for this

  • I find this relaxing compared to the other Jazzy NYC versions out there and can just chill by listening to this

  • Smooth track, the beat sends me back to my arcade days playin sf3 3rd strike. brilliant, Capcom should give you a medal for this.

  • or at least a cookie.....

  • dude man can u not make gold!? cuz every thing u touch just can't help but change into it. Shit u do what only many of us deam about man... Great Job.

  • HAHAHAHAHA nostalgia x20

    good stuff, as usual.

  • i got this song pumping when im driving on the FDR Drive in NEW YORK CITY. i love this song!!!

    Keep up the good work!!!

  • Man I gotta personally say I like this version of Jazzy NYC compared to the original ^ ^

  • glad to see someone who appreciates the vibraphone as much as i do.

  • crazy beat, crazy mix. cheers to the shredder kariu

  • this shit goes so fucking hard

  • hell yeah

keep pumpin this shit out kariu

  • Thanks man, really appreciate the reply. I sort of knew the ways of going about, but I just wanted to be sure. I never actually rewrote a song, and to do so would seem like one hell of a task that could take days, even months to complete.

    Thanks again

    X

  • i was referring that comment to Xaltus. i know you know how to do it. lol. me too. it's stressful

  • it's not really a big of a "secret" as Kariu says it is. it's common sense. i do that myself. if u check my music... you'll hear samples of the some of the tunes. that's why i like my username on here cus i can Master anything if i wanted to.

  • I really need to understand remixing.

Do you take a song, and completely rewrite it in FL Studio with your own instruments/kicks/snares? That's the only way I can understand that remixing is possible.

If you overlay your own instruments over the original song (which I've tried) it sounds like crap, so that can't possibly be it, can it?

Or is there another way you go about remixing?

    X

  • What Kariu (and the rest of us) do, is called "arranging." This is the act of taking a songs concept/melodies/harmonies and interpreting them with new instrumentation and progressions. You do not overlay the existing work with instruments. Rather, you recreate or interpret elements of the song over your own work. In this case, Kariu is playing the chord progression for the melody and using part of the original harmony. However, he has also added his own harmonies and melodies.

  • Ahh okay, thank you very much for the explainations. I really appreciate this, TheNativeDialect. : )

I'm going to try to do exactly that and see how it comes out, but I know it's going to suck lol. I used to overlay existing songs, but they sound "cluttered". especially if the original song already sounds completed. Adding more to it just makes it sound horrible.

But I'll try reconstructing a piece of music, and adding my own style to it. Thanks a lot man! : )

    X

  • how do you do that though, you gotta get the sheet music?how do you get it to sound like the old work but with your own style?

  • Sheet music is not easy to come by for video game music. And most of the sheet music on the web for game music is interpreted by enthusiasts with sufficient musical knowledge to do so. In the case of the mixers here on Youtube, none of us are that formally trained. So we mostly play by ear. It is a talent that allows the untrained musician to still create works and recreate the works of others, without any additional knowledge beyond hearing the piece in question.

  • Well I don't even know the terminology of it but I dig what you, kairyu and the other artists are doing with your rimixes and to be honest I don't even know where to start because I tried fl studio and it seems complicated as hell but I want to learn I wanna do what you guys do, I just wonder how it all fits together.

  • true

    2R

  • These Jazzy NYC tunes are real smooth and nice. Where did this style come from? I tried doing a search on goggle and even typed searching wikipedia and I couldn't find a description.

  • Jazzy NYC is a song composed by famed game music composer, Hideki Okugawa. The song style is rooted heavily in a mixture of classic African American jazz traditions including; smooth and acid jazz. Certain mixes of the song, as composed by Okugawa, also include hip hop and Latin American influences. Similar jazz stylings can be heard in songs such as "Stepping Into Tomorrow" by Donald Byrd and "Nick @ Nite" by Nicholas Payton.

  • hmmm, The composers are genius, I like their style :D

    go Jazzy NYC!!

    2R

  • Dude you should so put all your songs up for download!

  • it's retarded how tight this song is...this is better than the original i.m.o.

  • fire as usual, keep makin those sweet beats

  • i swear if u had all ur songs on an album at local music stores id buy 12 copies lool

  • oh shit this is heavy the way how its keeps changing up, i just had a bad day at work and to come home to this has really but a smile on my face.

    5/5 no doubt

  • Man I need this 20th album where can i get it from?

  • I'm getting this album the minute it fucking comes out. Then I can jam in my car to some sweet ass street fighter 3 music.

  • Love the way you finalized this masterpiece. Jazzy NYC never sounded so good. Kairu, Maxie, skullkid, you're all legendary.

BTW, how many songs are you guys planning to put on this album?

  • Dude weve got alot of ground to cover. some of us are combining themes to save CD space. Like i made this remix combining in some way all version of jazzy nyc except Double impact version. I am also doing Vegas SF2 theme and im covering oro and Seans theme. Cozby401 is covering E.Honda. Maxie is doing Ryu and Alex while Jelehu has already covered ryus tracks. Skullkidds list is N/A at the moment. Native Dialect and I are covering the main theme dubbed world warrior. I will be doing the lyrics..

  • Yikes, that's it a lot of ground to cover, but this makes me wish i got into music earlier in my life. But keep on pushing, also I know this is shameless but If i were the lead of the anniversary album project I would do a multi disk album with remixes of the most popular sf games ending in the release of the concept album of SFIV

  • Yes this is a multi disk project and we are spreading the word in the Street Fighter Community.... So help us out by spreading the word

  • Im down with that bro. Keep us posted on when its gonna drop.

  • You guys are goin all out. I can't wait to buy this disc. If this album goes as well as I'm anticipaing it will, it won't be long until Capcom hits you all up for their next hit.

  • Yay. Jazzy NYC is my favorite slew of songs in any fighting game and just hearing another version makes me wanna jam to it.

Awesome remix combining all the existing official versions into your take. :D

  • the song sounds beautiful, by the way I was wondering what happened to one of you videos, your remix for M.Bison? I'd say that was one of you most prized songs on there, well from my opinion.
