It's not half bad but somehow does not feel special; just makes me want to listen to the original, a much better alternative to this. I think it's just because it sounds TOO much like Jazz, which isn't bad, just that it rarely leaves much of an impression on me. Maybe if it sounded more lively.
Love the Apache sampling. Why don't you do beats like these in your Geo Space Republic group? These 3s remixes are alot more break based which is always the best form of a Hip Hop beat.

Thanks man, really appreciate the reply. I sort of knew the ways of going about, but I just wanted to be sure. I never actually rewrote a song, and to do so would seem like one hell of a task that could take days, even months to complete.
it's not really a big of a "secret" as Kariu says it is. it's common sense. i do that myself. if u check my music... you'll hear samples of the some of the tunes. that's why i like my username on here cus i can Master anything if i wanted to.
Do you take a song, and completely rewrite it in FL Studio with your own instruments/kicks/snares? That's the only way I can understand that remixing is possible.
If you overlay your own instruments over the original song (which I've tried) it sounds like crap, so that can't possibly be it, can it?
What Kariu (and the rest of us) do, is called "arranging." This is the act of taking a songs concept/melodies/harmonies and interpreting them with new instrumentation and progressions. You do not overlay the existing work with instruments. Rather, you recreate or interpret elements of the song over your own work. In this case, Kariu is playing the chord progression for the melody and using part of the original harmony. However, he has also added his own harmonies and melodies.
Ahh okay, thank you very much for the explainations. I really appreciate this, TheNativeDialect. : )
I'm going to try to do exactly that and see how it comes out, but I know it's going to suck lol. I used to overlay existing songs, but they sound "cluttered". especially if the original song already sounds completed. Adding more to it just makes it sound horrible.
But I'll try reconstructing a piece of music, and adding my own style to it. Thanks a lot man! : )
Sheet music is not easy to come by for video game music. And most of the sheet music on the web for game music is interpreted by enthusiasts with sufficient musical knowledge to do so. In the case of the mixers here on Youtube, none of us are that formally trained. So we mostly play by ear. It is a talent that allows the untrained musician to still create works and recreate the works of others, without any additional knowledge beyond hearing the piece in question.
Well I don't even know the terminology of it but I dig what you, kairyu and the other artists are doing with your rimixes and to be honest I don't even know where to start because I tried fl studio and it seems complicated as hell but I want to learn I wanna do what you guys do, I just wonder how it all fits together.
These Jazzy NYC tunes are real smooth and nice. Where did this style come from? I tried doing a search on goggle and even typed searching wikipedia and I couldn't find a description.
Jazzy NYC is a song composed by famed game music composer, Hideki Okugawa. The song style is rooted heavily in a mixture of classic African American jazz traditions including; smooth and acid jazz. Certain mixes of the song, as composed by Okugawa, also include hip hop and Latin American influences. Similar jazz stylings can be heard in songs such as "Stepping Into Tomorrow" by Donald Byrd and "Nick @ Nite" by Nicholas Payton.
This is real cool, but my favorite Jazzy NYC remix was the one you had with a picture of Ken's 3rd Strike art. It had the ill hip hop beat at the end. Why you took it off =(. Any other place I can find it?
So far of listening to all the remixes that others have done, I would have to say this remix and DJ Maxie's remix are so far the best remixes of Jazzy NYC.
Awesome job on mixing the funky jazz with a little bit of hip-hop and of the SF3: 3rd Strike ring announcer, I love it! ^_^
Oh this is why you took down your songs off of youtube.....man I really miss listening to them....I would have downloaded them from you to have on my ipod to jam to..well keep me informed cause I want a piece of this. I love jamming to your tracks yo. Keep making the magic yo.

Dude weve got alot of ground to cover. some of us are combining themes to save CD space. Like i made this remix combining in some way all version of jazzy nyc except Double impact version. I am also doing Vegas SF2 theme and im covering oro and Seans theme. Cozby401 is covering E.Honda. Maxie is doing Ryu and Alex while Jelehu has already covered ryus tracks. Skullkidds list is N/A at the moment. Native Dialect and I are covering the main theme dubbed world warrior. I will be doing the lyrics..
Yikes, that's it a lot of ground to cover, but this makes me wish i got into music earlier in my life.
