Wow, absolutely gorgeous! I'm still trying to work on doing videos of my drawings. I've got a few projects running right now, but I think I'll try and film the drawing I'm doing of a Matador for some missionary friends in Spain.
Damn this was great. Again, I don't know how you make your hands do these things. It's far beyond me. And I missed the deadline, but I'll give you a perfectly adequate vague answer anyways...For me, you know as an "artistic" person....blurg...I feel like if I ever try to creatively cut myself off from one art form, karma will come back and bite me. So I try and appreciate every art form more or less equally. Though my visual art rep·er·toire is a continual work in progress.
It all depends, to me art can be both an expression or a work for fun/entertainment, not that one excludes the other. When looking at art that expresses something some styles work better and since it's often personality related and then I will admit that I prefer one style more then the other. However I try (and want) to stay open minded, with the idea that the more I see, the more I learn.
I find im open minded to many styles i would always try diffrent styles once or twice, but when i want to draw something for myself just to have fun i would draw gloomy dark and kinda misunderstood style, some people say i draw "scary stuff" but i enjoy drawing :D
I find that I'm trying to be open-minded to different art styles, but I'm most influenced by anime/manga... and cartoons from the 80's and early 90's... so all of my drawings usually look rather cartoony even when I'm trying to not do manga.
I've had a concept for an online comic in mind with which to FORCE myself to explore other art styles, but sadly haven't gotten around to starting it yet - each chapter, was going to be in a different style
I have been open to all art and styles my entire life. But being open doesn't mean that I have the talent to replicate all styles. Professionally, I am a trained Graphic Designer which has helped me as a fine artist. I have the objectivity to know what style works in a particular subject, or solves a visual problem. Knowing your strengths doesn't mean you are closed to other styles. It just means you know yourself well enough to know what you are good at.
cartoons have original art styles typically anyone can agree to that, anime is just the same old copy-pasted phlegm that thinks its a good idea to replace anatomy with stupid cutsie face garbage. is it art if you just keep drawing the same damn thing over and over or does originality mean nothing to art as a whole? Big fat artist names like PICASSO didn't get born from a guy drawing over terrible templates over and over.
@SnapSaviorEtc It’s my channel, and I can block trolls if I want, sorry. Anime is just another type of cartoon. Disney's style is copied over, and over, and over again. Don Bluth, Warner Bros. for example too. Nothing in art is truly original, you’re influenced from one thing or another. Does it matter if I drew this videos drawing 10 times over, is it still not art? Though, drawing something over and over, can sometimes be known as practice. Anime is the first thing I drew, still love it.
Look, I agree with you with your point about Disney, Don Bluth, and Warner Bros.
But there are so many other cartoon artists out there that are originals, typically John Kricfalusi.
and its not just American cartoons, but also Japanese ones, like Masaaki Yuasa; which is pretty brilliant. My point being: Don't strive to be unoriginal, like drawing what everyone else, and their fourteen year old daughter is drawing ("Anime")
As a young artist starting in college, I have been very open-minded to art. I have seen plenty of art styles in my life time. Yet, I still keep seeing new types of art styles being created. Each art style gives me a new perspective of thinking about art. I do understand how my art style is I do want my drawings or paintings to look realistic yet they have an impressionistic style to them. Since I do use thick lines of oil pastels or paints like Renoir or van Gogh. I'm not so great at doing abst
@AtomFA seriously, what's wrong with you!? I watch anime because of the compelling story lines. It's a medium. Like film is a medium. I'm starting to think you're only perception of anime is what they show on saturday mornings and do crappy english translations of. Also way to be a spammer and reply to me like 3 times. You do not get to end this. Also I don't know if you're an artist or what but that doesn't give you the right to piss on something you just don't like.
I can appreciate all art. The piece would have to say something to me before I would buy it. Each person has there own taste. For me the art has to be visually pleasing to me to hang on my wall in my home. I like it when there is a story in the piece. Glad you friend liked your drawing. I could tell she was very happy and in turn that must had made you feel wonderful.
@photobart1 That’s always the way to buy an artwork, you have to really love it. I love artworks with a story too, or at least one that I can make up to go with it. It always does make me happy when a client is trilled with their new artwork. =)
Art is one of those things to which the saying "To each their own" applies. I am open minded to different art styles because it's like peering into the mind/soul of the artist. Modern art in particular plays with the way how everyday things are seen by different people. Traditional art, I think, relies more on the "mood" of the piece.
@ChoTomoko I also think think that some modern art can be playing on a lot of emotion. Like paintings that are all red and it’s just a bunch of swirls and texture. Place that painting in the proper spot and it can get people fired up. I’ve read some quotes on what the purpose of art is, one I thought was neat is, “Art is perfecting nature.” Then I think of some traditional painting and how perfect some of the artist’s would try to make this little world on canvas.
I'm always open minded with art. It's fun to explore your talent, and whatever the ending result...it's art ;) I've tried doing a piece with just magazine scraps and it came out crazy cool lol. It was fun. Btw you are extremely talented, I love watching the progress if each piece from beginning to end. You motivated me to draw again. Thank you :)
Watchin the end of this video made me smile cause I am drawin a portrait 4 my best friend in high school of a pic of her & her hubby gettin married. Drawin a piece of love makes me smile cause its so great 2 find your soulmate. The crows in the background reminds me of love birds. Beautiful piece 2 drawin about 2 ppl in love & have so muc care 4 1 another...you dont see that alot nowadays.
Lauren, my painting professor always insisted to keep in mind the "economy of marks" in our paintings. he said to challenge yourself to get a part done in so many strokes. basically what he was after were marks with purpose. I, like you, like rendering and making thing look realistic and i had trouble with fiddling too much with things. so maybe u should challenge yourself to a texturefull painting! after the holiday of course! :D
also painting with a palette knife would surely leave a texture!
i love using different mediums in my art i have used legos in my art and mardi gra beads to my best is still paint thou i feel it can do so much and it just works for me my worst is just using a pencil i love art works where all they used was a pencil but every time i try i fail - sad face -
Loved the drawing, absolutely beautiful!! As far as styles of art go, I haven't had much experience with art to have a particular favorite. I want to try everything, so I'm taking a drawing class next semester at school, and I also plan on taking a painting class in the future. I did clay works in high school, but there's no way for me to do it now. I always just try everything, but I hope that I can get some sort of style by practicing! :)
I do enjoy expanding my style here and there, but like you I find that my own style sort of dominates all the art that I do. I can work away from it, but then it feels to hard to work out the piece.
Such a beautiful piece.... I've noticed you do a lot of B/W graphite/charcoal pieces that may or may not have a color splashed in. It seems like that is your specialty =D
I will try almost anything when it comes to art cause i feel art is something you experiment with and if you find favorite along the way thats great.I havnt much experience with anything but the basics of art graphite, colored pencil, water color, etc.But recently i've tried Charcoal and Oil which I really like using, also mixed media is incredible fun too! :)I think I like these because of their richness and the fact i can manipulate them easily. So yes i'm open to anything except watercolor ;)
As I mature, I find that I can appreciate all kinds of art. Even the scribbles my 3yo makes. To me, each piece of art represents a unique view of the world around me, and studying different styles of art, to me, is like being in a vast aquarium, with all kinds of different fish. I'm mostly proficient with pencil drawings and aren't to great at any other form, but I do try to like to incorporate different styles of art into my own repertoire. Every drawing I make is like a collage of the world.
I love all different kinds of art, I am not great at most of them. But its fun to try. Currently I'm working with face paint and body painting. I love it. But it definitely doesn't play the same as acrylic or oil would.
Wow. This turned out hat do you find most difficult about artwork.. I enjoy realism but like you, enjoy looking at all types of art. However, I cannot draw to save my life. I cannot see depth or colors like artist do. Once I see another s work, I think wow I wish I could do that.
I would say I'm open to all kinds of art, especially art i have no talent for. This is because i find myself admiring people who can do things I can't. When i make art, I focus on the style for the whole period I remain inspired, but when I'm done I might do something entierly different. Art should be like people-Different and varying. If artist just stuck to one form of the craft, I do believe that their craft would become stagnate. True, not all artists are good at every form of art out there, but if they didn't try-well, I would hate to think of it. What would we have thought off Picasso if he didn't leave his Blue Period? Or if Da Vinci only painted women with odd smiles? Some artists study the same subjects constantly, but even then they change it up.
as a young artist i dont have a certain style of art because im still learning. so i will have to say that im open to all kinds and forms of art. im really interested in art deco and in the seriealist art style, mostly the works of salvador dali.
@Bopperkid I think maybe it’s because I changed the lighting? I was trying out a different spot in my room this episode. Glad you like it =) I think that anyone can draw if they practice enough.
@AtomFA I couldn't draw either but i kept at it. What i did was just copy things i saw in books like anime and stuff then i copied a realistic piece of art and boom it automatically brought me up to that level of drawing!
@AtomFA I think I responded to the wrong person. Either way anime is a style. And if you're seeing "terrible anatomy" you haven't seen anything good then.
@AtomFA I’m sorry but the very first art I ever started drawing was anime and manga at around 10 years old, and it helped me learn much of body anatomy. I still watch, draw, and read a ton of anime today. All of the principles and elements of art are present in anime and manga. There’s nothing wrong with exaggeration and abstraction in art. To state it isn’t art is defying art as a definition. =/ If you want to argue with someone, that’s fine, just please keep it in a pm please, thank you =)
@AtomFA Making the eyes bigger is an exaggeration for example, that can’t be denied by anyone. If you feel this way about anime, you might as well feel the same about all cartoons & graphics as well I guess; and any type of modern artwork. Line, form, shape, value, etc, all exhibited. Art is only as easy as one makes it. I’m sorry you feel this way, and you might like to look into more art exhibits…I’ve gone to several that are anime related in fine arts museums.
@AtomFA Try checking out some Ghibli films too, there’s some amazing work to be seen. Most to all animes have hand painted backgrounds, and each frame is drawn and colored by hand. If anything, if you don’t find them artistic, then maybe you’ll at least enjoy the films for their stories. Princess Mononoke, and Sprited Away are great ones.=3
Wow, absolutely gorgeous! I'm still trying to work on doing videos of my drawings. I've got a few projects running right now, but I think I'll try and film the drawing I'm doing of a Matador for some missionary friends in Spain.

@TRANSiENTART
anime is not a exaggeration or abstraction that is the point, it is just a regurgitated EASY WAY OF DOING THINGS, there is no anime art exhibits
