He possessed the quintessential lyric tenor timbre. Those who enjoy Latin American popular music should find and listen to his album of Latin American popular songs. It is the best of its kind. A great singer.
@MegaBreez Dear friend, some of those songs are posted on my channel, Granada is posted on CamiloGesen's channel, Princesita was also present some time ago, but I can't find it now.
OMG he is sooo good - i recall seeing him in Barber with Herman prey....my two heroes. But the pic here really shocked me.....its so sad to see such a talent ageing and yes i know it has to happen
@MegaBreez I love your final statement. I personally prefer a light and free voice to a voice solely attempting to be as "big" and "dark" as possible.
The best of the best; how charming and sweet this aria could sound in Alva's voice.Bravo!! a master class for bel canto; he accomplished indeed, the rising of lyrical musica in his country Perú. Hope we shall never forget this.ESTE ES EL PADRE DEL RESURGIMIENTO DE LA LÍRICA EN PERÚ...BRAVO ALVA!!!!!!!!!!
MegaBreez, Try to find it on Amazon.

With a voice like that, Adina should have fallen for him in his first scene!

@policrates yes it is slower, but are you bored? can any modern tenor sing in this tempo? do you think it is easier than faster tempo?

This is perfect example of singing not screaming, like some famous modern tenors
I like this rendition better than Pavarotti. But this is personal. For me big voice is not always the best.
Thanks for posting!

Fully agree with you. The music quality doesn't measure in decibels.

Wow, it takes control to sing this so slowly. Not my favorite interpretation but very good.
