I dont know since when messy hairstyle has become trendy? Not every girl looks good in messy hair, and some girls would look like they just got beated up by their lover. Messy hairstyle only goes well with trendy girls which means you have to put on makeup, CLEAN DRESS, nice body. Otherwise, you would just like look you don't have good personal hygiene.

i did this a long time ago and it was really tricky its hard

A really good way to cheat at this, is get a small length of hair extension weft about 14 inchlength and 5CM at the top. plait it and fix a small elastic at each end. Then chop the end off where it's on the weft. Then stitch the plait you have made onto a thin headband. taper the ends in with some ribbon or tape or something It's great for doing quick hairdo's because you just put it on and pull your own hair over the ends to hide it, and looks great if you're wearing a loose messy ponytail/bun.

i tried it for an hour in the washroom, i couldnt do it! it was so hard for me! i braided and try to flip it over, but the bobby pin keeps falling off and i see this bump of hair on top of my ear when i flip the braid to the other side...but i love this style
