Hey, I'm thinking about starting this book, but I'm kind of on the fence about it. First, because it's such a long series if I get into it, I'm not sure I can commit to 14 books. I'm writing my own fantasy adventure series and have it set for 4 books, and I think that's a lot! :)
Second, it sounds similar to The Sword of Truth Series, and that Goodkind is very repetitive, which gets annoying. Descriptiveness is fine, but hammer the point/moral over and over is not something I enjoy.
My local library has it checked in and might give it try. Does it take place in a fictional land or in a older time period or both?
I'm kind of also on the fence b/c my novel I'm writing deals with a different realm, and it's for the most part the older style fantasy of swords, magic, witch(es), etc. Not sure I've got any dragons in there yet, lol. So in that aspect it could be similar.
@MusicJunkie777 Its actually better to read the series somewhat before diving into the New Spring novel. Or you would probably not understand quite a bit of it.
my tip is to first read the glossary then start the book, it does help. Enjoy and let the Dragon ride once more upon the Winds of Time. TY for your review, time and honesty
when you say allot of sub-plots that is a bit of an understatement. there are over 1000 named characters in the series, to give an idea of how many sub-plots there might be.
I'm interested in Wheel of time because I love traditional fantasy world settings, that's fulled with magic and unique creatures. I love just fantasy in general, the more detail the better, too bad English is my second language, I pretty much have to start by reading YA style fantasy books, and hopefully I will be able to handle WOT sometime later.
If you like good old traditional Fantasy books, then The Wheel Of Time is the way to go, I think.
I would say I agree with you beginning with YA style Fanasy books and advancing to this series. I find with these books that they do require a lot of attention - especially with the amount of many sub-plots Robert Jordan includes in every book.
Let me know once you start them though! I'm curious to see how you find them! =)
@michaelkazich Oh wow - so you've read the entire series leading up to Towers Of Midnight? =]
I'm planning on reviewing every book in the series as I read them, yes. Maybe just give my take on the events that happen in each book and my thoughts on the characters - things like that!
@MusicJunkie777 You can do a simple review at the beginning and then at the end say "now time for spoilers so its your choice to continue watching from here on out" or something like that so you can do spoilers and the people choose if they want to continue or not.
I might do that in the next video for book two. I don't want to ruin the series for anyone who happened to stumble upon one of my videos - but like you said it's the viewer's choice whether to watch ahead of a spoiler or not.
Thanks for the advice! =)
I'll have to watch some more of your videos and see how a pro does it! ;D
Awsome book. It took me 5 minutes to get in to the book.

@kght222 Yeah, maybe I was a little off there saying that!
I've only read around 5 of the books so I'm sure there are way more characters and sub-plots to come! =D

I love old fantasy books!!! they just don't write them as vividly anymore. I enjoyed your video.
popinfresh 7 months ago
@popinfresh I agree! Like I stated in the video, I do like Modern Fantasy - maybe in small doses though.
I think that is why I chose this series - it was first produced in 1990 so I knew it was going to be Classic Fantasy from the word go.
You should give them a try. =)
Oh and thanks for the nice comment! ^^

@mutaitosensei8 You must Joe! I mean Hanabi. ;D
The series really has me gripped at the moment - so many sub-plots going on at once. :)
I love that aspect to Fantasy. =]

It's really difficult to steer away from possible spoilers in this series though!
