Well JM I've already told you what comedies I favour, and like I said they'd wipe the floor with Jason falling through a bar while trying to impress Pauline Quirke for heaven's sake. If I want drama I'll watch East Enders. All I ever do when watching Only Fools and Horses is watch one joke opportunity after another missed. It's a comedy that belongs with other middle rate 80's performers like Birds of a Feather or Brush Strokes. And John Sullivan a genius? Another overexcited statement.

i agree red dwarf is great but only fools and horses has a magic about it that propels it above everything else. Only fools is more personal to people than the others, maybe not as laugh out loud funny as some but certainly the most loved.

Yes I wasn't disagreeing it might be considered one of Britains most loved comedies but it's certainly far from deserving of the overexcited title people here are giving it as best comedy show ever. Those other shows I mentioned have far better dialogue. And mass appeal has nothing to do with quality. America loves Two and a Half Men that doesn;t make it good. Just mass consumed. And Ive come across plenty of people who cant stand Fools.

I'd like to know what you actually thought was funny because there's few things more funny that 'Fools'. The charaters, acting, family dynamic, everything is perfection.

Hmm I dont think Only Fools and Horses could compete with the pedigrees of Fawlty Towers Blackadder Red Dwarf Seinfled The Simpsons or quite a few other sitcoms,. It had its funny moments but its far from the best sitcom ever.

@bluejeckett its britain most loved comedy so i would say it is the certainly one of the best comedys ever. Red dwarf most people have not heard of so i would say that is far from 'pedigree'. Fawlty towers and blackadder are good but you either love or hate them. I have yet to meet someone who doesn't love only fools and horses.

Fools & Horses is easily just as good a Fawlty Towers any day, and it ran many, many years more and still kept up the standard, (mind you, both are brilliant).

@bluejeckett hey knobhead the first the simpsons are american and have ran for far too long to be considered funny anymore plus in my opinion only fools happens to be much more realistic than blackadder, the simpsons and red dwarf although i love both red dwarf and blackadder only fools is something that people can relate to for instance in simpsons people are yellow plus other flaws lisa, bart, maggie and all the other kids never age wtf that means they have been at school for 20 years.
