That's always made me laugh and probably why I appreciate when they make things less realistic in modern cartoons for the sake of making it smoother and more watchable. Realism and the storyline are not one in the same and I hope people don't continue to confuse the two especially when they ignore every other logical error in the cartoon. Magic wands.... and a realistic boulder toss which was countered by an unrealistic punch? Great stuff.

That isn't really correct. Rotoscoping is when animators trace over live action. In He-man and She-Ra, Filmation would film live action people running, swinging a sword, etc. The animators would trace over their movements to give the cartoon characters more realistic movements.

No, rotoscoping is drawing on the frame of film or video. It's a layer added on top of what already exists. For instance, adding laser blasts to a frame of film or drawing a lightsaber blade onto a prop sword. Rotoscoping can also be used in animation by drawing characters over live-action actors to mimic their movement or facial expressions.

Rotoscoping is not shining a light on reflective tape, though it could be part of the process of filming the live action--to give reference to the editor.

SO many problems with these scene for a real masters fan. Like one, the sorceress would know its not He-man! And 2, she always sensed evil approaching the castle, much less lying in wait for her!

Ralph Bakshi used Rotoscope animation in his films, Lord of the Rings being the most famous. Fire and Ice, based off of Frank Frazetta's art style is very well done for its time back in 1983. Rotoscope has come a long way, check out movies like A Scanner Darkly and the Japanese anime Appleseed: Ex Machina, awesome stuff. He-man, Goltar, Thundercats and Hulk hogans Rock n Roll Wrestling wer my favorite cartoons. I also watched Jem and My Little Pony w/ my sisters, good 80s stuff. Glo-worms too
