Have you heard Meyer's logic for this phenomenon? Apparently a vampire's cells become like crystal when he dies: rock hard and sparkly. Thus when he steps out into the sunlight (and only in the sunlight, mind) you can see the individual sparkles glinting off of these microscopic skin cells. Hooray for logic! ::rolls eyes::
