How did the cop put the patient in danger? He wanted to speak to the driver. The EMT, you know the guy who was treating the patient, jumped out and wanted to argue with the cop. HE is the one who left his patient, and HE is the one who escalated the situation by wanting to play who's the boss. The ambulance was not running code, so it's just like any other car on the road. The trooper WAS running code and the ambulance didn't yield.
i saw the video and the cop was the one that put his hands on the emt. the cope was out of line and he put the patient in danger! the cop is to blame not the EMT. see even the news are stupid too!
What if that women in the back went into arrest!? The actions of Oklahoma Highway Patrol reflect poorly on the community and you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Ambulances do not have to stop for police under any any medical transport circumstances! Any action otherwise from you heavy handed officers will only be overturned in the court of law so do not waste precious medical time in future. This goes for all law enforcement agencies
Teamwork...hah!!! I was asked to resign from EMS for referring to a 'yahoo' police sargent as a 'prick' ata motor vehicle collision. Although patient care was never compromised, sarge felt compelled to put on a grand performance for the junior officers on scene. Congrats Sarge...I actually decided to leave EMS a couple of weeks later. Hope your happy!!!
@pantoski i am curious if this was the case? i can see why the trooper vented on this. if ambulance had the siren on, this would have been avoided. nevertheless trooper action was out of hand.
Show the tape from the idiot redneck cop's dashcam, and run that story again. This news report is a joke. Shame on the reporter that had the nerve to sit there and utter such a halfass account. How do you expect people to tune into your station if this is what you put out there. You didn't say a word about the woman needing medical attention! What's the point you're trying to make? That Trooper's daddy must own this station.
the ambulance didn't had the emergency lights ON that's why the troopers got upset because without the emergency lights on the ambulance is just like any other car
@pantoski even with the lights on they still can not run red lights or just do whatever they want. Granted the police in this video are dead wrong and should have taken care of all of this after the woman was taken to the hospital...
If the patent is stable and vital signs are good then the ambulance driver does not have to run its lights. It simple drives at the regulated speed to the ER. The troop pulled the ambulance over for not yielding to his car - The office should have let the ambulance continue to the hospital as soon as he was told that they where treating a patent.
Oh this story gets way deeper. Apparently the OHP trooper's wife was in the state police car while he was so called "reporting to an emergency." Also he was reported holding teenagers at gunpoint for a misdemeanor and the paramedic has anger issues. This one is interesting.
that paramedic is huge im surprised he didnt cave the troopers face in!! i would of expecially since its on camera and he had proof that the trooper put his hands on the paramedic first...it would of been all self defence!
Im surprised thats all they did to him. They could have stuck a broomstick up his rear like the NYC Police officers did to that guy or even sodomized him like they did to Michael Mineo.
Since when do ambulances or firetrucks have to yield to police cars anyway? You can't stop an emergency vehicle on its way to the hospital! That's insane... Those cops should be fired.
Law enforcement is suppose to work as a team with emergency vehicles. What if it had been a Fire Truck on the way to a fire. It's the same damn thing. This OHP did not have lights & siren on. This trooper thinks he's just above everybody. He should be fired, he's a disgrace!
5 days suspension is all he gets for this?! I am caucasion and i am in fear with an "officer" like this on the street. This is not a racist issue at all but a power trip from someone who should not be "serving and protecting". This guy should be fired!!! He doesn't deserve to wear the badge, much less frightening enough this guy carries weapons with absolutely no common sense but works entirely off of ego and anger
This is sad. Is this the way we treat our Paramedics who helps it´s citizens! I am so disappointed, the police could of waited until the patient got safely to the hospital.
Coming from former military and current law enforcement with the Feds. Many of the states, counties, etc have low standards for their hiring criteria. Many of these "law enforcement" members are dirt bags, that have been juiced in by family that work in he departments, cover ups etc. Many of them have done all kinds of crimes ranging from DUI's, drugs, corruption, sexual assault, molestation, assault, burglary, stalking, etc.
I lost it when they started grabbing the black EMT and the woman started screaming. Who does that? There's a patient in the vehicle, that ends all discussion. The police have their dicks in their hands and they intend to use it at all times, no matter what's at stake. We need to stop hiring high school kids from the football team as our protection and hire only college graduates who have studies, psychology, criminal behavior and get some people with some sense. This is a disgrace
problem #1 that cops a prick. hes not better than those douchebag cops beating up 12 year old skateboarders. hes pissed off that someone undermined his authority", its how some guys deal with having a dick that's too small. bet he felt like "the man" with his hand around that guys neck
@saranewyork ur really ignorant arent you? mixon friggin raped women and murdered cops... does that sound like someone who you would invite to your house?
@girraboyzz. That's what I was thinking too. But I also think it's bigger than that. The trooper was having some real issues that day. Watch the dashcam video. Did you notice, he didn't stay at his assistance call? As soon as he pulled up to the site, he left. It was as if he was looking for some sh## to get into. I know all officers aren't bad, because I'm formerly one myself. But speaking from a supervisors point of view, EMT & Paramedic should be reprimanded, and trooper fired.
Wow, this cop is going to be suspended or get fired for this, he was at fault for not yielding to the ambulance. It seems rage, and emotions took over after that.
Actually, consuming the large amount of sugar in donuts, & caffeine in the accompanying coffee,Helps To CAUSE police to behave this way. Seriously, there should be a prohibition on coffee & donuts for cops, & they should be tested each day, before going on duty, for their sugar & caffeine levels, & if they're too high, they should be banned for that day, & if they are so banned too many times, they should be fired! If this isn't a good idea, why are there such restrictions, on alcohol for cops?
first order is to protect the citizens,, the lady in the back could be dieing! all this could have been handled at the hospital. the officer was very UNprofesional in this situation. aperantly the officers werent in to big of a hurry, they had time to stop the ambulance. getting the lady to safety IS their job.
As a former law enforcement officer my opinion is the officer is wound way too tight to be on the street. From the outset he let emotion dictate his orders. First, emergency vehicles aren't accustomed to yielding for emergency vehicles. Second, there is no reason he couldn't have allowed the ambulance to arrive at the hospital then write the ticket. In my opinion, the emotion of this officer made this problem much bigger than it needed to be.
Yes, I"ve seen both videos uncut and it appears that the EMT was acting professionally and trying to explain to the officer that they need to get their patient to the hospital and the officer just tells him to get back in the ambulance or he will arrest him. This is like pulling over a firetruck on their wait to a fire. However I will say from the dashboard cam, it didn't look like the ambulance had their lights on either. Both officers seemed to be a little too high strung.
I ran volunteer rescue for almost 7 years, there was a trooper whose wife had an affair with a firefighter and after that he made it his goal to pull firefighter and EMT's over off duty, they finally relocated him to another county.
Cops are idiotic grunts who work for crooked DA's and bureaucrats that are bent on domination and control. They are little more than hired muscle.
A cop without radio contact or means to get in touch with his backup becomes a very, very weak person all of a sudden. I hope someone gets one of them at the worst possible moment and teaches him a lesson or two.
The problem here is simple: the paramedic refused to submit to arrest, as is becoming more and more common in certain segments of the community. When you are under arrest, shut up and turn around. Period.
gitchigoomi, you are such a bootlicker, and worse, you are wrong
This is what the courts have found:
*** Take special note of the final paragraph ****
"When a person, being without fault, is in a place where he has a right to be, is violently assaulted, he may, without retreating, repel by force, and if, in the reasonable exercise of his right of self defense, his assailant is killed, he is justified." Runyan v. State, 57 Ind. 80; Miller v. State, 74 Ind. 1.
"These principles apply as well to an officer attempting to make an arrest, who abuses his authority and transcends the bounds thereof by the use of unnecessary force and violence, as they do to a private individual who unlawfully uses such force and violence." Jones v. State, 26 Tex. App. I; Beaverts v. State, 4 Tex. App. 1 75; Skidmore v. State, 43 Tex. 93, 903.
"An illegal arrest is an assault and battery. The person so attempted to be restrained of his liberty has the same right to use force in defending himself as he would in repelling any other assault and battery." (State v. Robinson, 145 ME. 77, 72 ATL. 260).
Each person has the right to resist an unlawful arrest. In such a case, the person attempting the arrest stands in the position of a wrongdoer and may be resisted by the use of force, as in self- defense." (State v. Mobley, 240 N.C. 476, 83 S.E. 2d 100).
Exactly. Regardless of what you are doing, whether it be saving someones life, putting out a fire, or whatever -- when you are under arrest, shut up and turn around. Otherwise, its popo time.
I agree with you, Gitchi, but that doesn't change the fact that there was absolutely no reason it should have gone to that point. Pure abuse of authority by the cops.
Gitchgoomi- So you are telling me that if your mom was in the back of an ambulance and being cared for by a professional paramedic, it would be ok to arrest the paramedic outright? What planet are you from?
These cops and their department need to be sued, fined, jailed, fired, and make a public apology for their asininity! They are supposed to 'protect and to serve'! We don't need 'StormTroopers' we need a 'cooperative community emergency response force'! Teach these jerks a lesson, and make an example out of them so this never happens again!
this trooper should be FIRED.. if he reacts like this to a little situation of not being yielded to, then i'm sure in larger situations he really abuses his power.
The driver of the ambulance appears to be white. He only said words to him but decided to arrest the black emt who was not driving. Can anyone tell me why is that?

Wow, I think it is complete idiotic to stereotype all law enforcement beause of the actions of a few. That's exactly why we have the problems with have with racial, religious and other stereotypes. Wake up and smell the fascism, the country is out of control and more and more police are no longer worthy of respect. They are behaving like mafia thugs.
i see so much abuse of power from cops it makes me want to vomit. i would hate to see you become a cop cuz you would probably sooner or later become another power hungry cop.
I feel you on the last part of your comment. I too was thinking of becoming a cop but the negativity that comes along with it was too much for me so I stuck to school. cops get no respect and the majority of the public despises them and hates them with a passion. I have also found some new hatred for these "defenders" of the law. For the most part they are cowards and I am glad I am not associated with them.
did you even watch the video?? It is a private ambulance not a real ambulance, it does not have lights, therefore how would the trooper yeild to it? Second, when you get pulled over do you get out of the car? No, Third, Mr. White resisted arreast and force was used.
The situation could have been handled better but that is what happened.
Hitler and Stalin couldn't have worked their evil without the police. Police are mercenaries. From that group, one can expect some number of power hungry thugs who will abuse others beyond their mandate.
As a Paramedic that has worked alongside of law enforcement for over 25 years, this video is not what usually happens... we usually work together! This group of law enforcement however ALL deserve to lose their badges! Some for participating and others for not stopping the stupidity. These "Troopers" are an embarassment to the rest of law enforcement, and Law Enforcement should clean their own house!
The police no longer are there 2 serve and protect, wake up people, how far do things need 2 go before people wake up and say enough is enough ! They are sell outs to corporate amerika for a measly little paycheck !!!
Their excuse is they are only doing there job, but if their job was to escort us all to concentration camps I'd say about 85% would go along with it. Sad but true and if you don't believe it just wait and see, NWO will be here soon !!!
yeah - that's why you choke the paramedic - makes perfect sense. who the f#@k do you guys think you are? that's a professional trying to do his job with patient in tow to the hospital. protect and serve my nuts... OHP deserves no respect if they don't handle this accordingly.

first of all the trooper is at fault.he was suppose to yield to the ambulance,no matter if he was responding to a call or not.
i wonder if he would have acted the way he did if it was one of his relatives.
now im thinking twice about becoming a cop.

i see so much abuse of power from cops it makes me want to vomit. i would hate to see you become a cop cuz you would probably sooner or later become another power hungry cop.

So why are you around cops all the time to claim to see so much abuse of power!??!?! OR do you have something against law enforcement??

They may need to depend upon these medics to save their lives one day, and I KNOW the Medics will be more professional!

Exactly we need to get rid of all military and police so as to better stand up against the New World Order. Also we need to get rid of guns.

yeah - that's why you choke the paramedic - makes perfect sense. who the f#@k do you guys think you are? that's a professional trying to do his job with patient in tow to the hospital. protect and serve my nuts... OHP deserves no respect if they don't handle this accordingly.
