What radical, alternative medicine and/or nutritioinal supplements would you suggest and/or take if you had the progressive, fatal neurodegerative muscle atrophy disease: Amyotrophic Lateral Esclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, where patients die of respiratory problems and pneumonia after 2 to 3 years>
Riluzole (Rilutek) is the only FDA approved treatment to improve survival by several months, but does not reverse the damage already done to motor neurons.
I use a sublingual tablet, under the tongue. Dosage of this tablet is 1000 mcg.
It also helps (somewhat) with ringing in the ears (tinnitus). B12 helps reduce stress and boost energy at the same time. It's a great supplement and has many more benefits, not mentioned here.
Hey Doctor, i have a ?, ok i recently got a blood test from my family doctor and it showed that my calcium level was high in the blood, my family Doc told me to walk about 45min a day, i have been doing so but still feel weird,i have heard rumors that Magnesium helps break up calicum deposits and helps your calcium in blood get to normal levels. (could you please recommend me some Magnesium tablets that i could buy off of store shelves) im 24yo,6ft,143lbs. thank you doctor, have a great day!
I am 17 and want to boost my energy levels, my dad is quite a lazy person and avoids doing tasks that involve using more energy. I wanted to know is it in your genetics to determine your natural energy levels?
I have chronic fatigue syndrome and so far I really haven't seen a difference taking b12 vitamins. I have been taking them along with folic acid. I'm looking for the right supplement regime for relief right now and I probably need a b complex I think. Unfortunately other things for cfs such as nadh and coenzemated a are so expensive :(
I recently purchased vitamin B-12 5000 mcg, since that is such a high dosage should I cut the pill in half? Would there be any negative side effects if I did take the 5000 mcg? I bought the vitamin because I've been feeling very tired and need something to boost my energy when I'm at work....I would just like a second opinion.
Cyanocobalamin can take up to 2 months to be converted into the active form of vitamin b12 wich is methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin (also called dibencozide).
@azkalpien It is impossible to overdose on vitamin B12 it is very safe however you don't need more than 1 mg. Many find it a superior alternative to energy drinks.
@mercola Have you ever heard of XS energy drinks? They have a large amount of b12, 4,900%, and keep me energized the whole day; no crashing. Try it sometime =)
I'm 20 and have a mostly vegan diet. I don't eat chicken, pork, or beef, and very little dairy. A lot of foods upset my stomach.. this is why. I tried to take B12 but it upsets my stomach. I vomit almost instantly after taking it. I'm 21 what should I do?
@anticliche321 Check the back of your b12 bottle and see what its made of. If you look up cyanocobalamin in google you find a ton of sites where people commenting about having problems or getting sick after having used cyanocobalamin. Something about Cyanide being in it or whatever. You want to get ones that say its made of methylcobalamin or HydroxyCobalamin. You shouldn't get sick then. Check out the video called "A Toxic Vitamin B12" by liquidvitaminman here on YouTube.
Is there a natural Vitamin B12 supplement WITHOUT synthetic acids like stearic acid, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, titanium dioxide?...preferably sublingual form.
Can you be my doctor? Mine thinks I'm crazy when I tell him that you should change your diet based on your blood type. He said I'm crazy and it doesn't matter. I wanted to punch him.
give your doctor the flick and see alternative health professionals such as naturopaths, iridologists, reiki healers etc...
doctors are a joke these days and should be avoided they earn more the more pills they dish out and these cause more sickness.. so seeing doctors is damaging to health..!
when the doctor told me cysts were caused by chocolate and tea a few years ago, i realized that he knew nothing about these issues, and he told me to wait for the menopause which was v. demeaning...
@alex3914 Your doctor is a science based practitioner! It would be extremely unethical for him to put you on a diet that lacks any evidence what so ever and not only that but the blood type diet is completely illogical.
I am glad we get our b12 from the 4 gallons of raw milk and cultured milk and raw cheese that we get from our two cows. (no wonder I am not as tired as I used to be) Thanks
Joseph, you look better and better! Leading by example, excellent!
I am thinking about "energy management" this week. After just a few days I've achieved significant improvements of my energy levels. I'll share my learnings soon.
Dr.Mercolo, isn't it possible there are people out there who are just natural night people?I have tried and tried for years to acclimate to a day schedule, and it just isn't natural for me...I really feel the most happy when I go to bed at around 3 am and sleep until 11am.I was like this as a baby as well. This is when I look and feel the best. So I do use coffee alot and don't get enough sleep.I will definitely try the B-12;but I am curious what your thoughts are on the night owl syndrome. Thanks!
Thank you Dr. Mercola. I have been taking B12 sublingually for many years in tablet form (as opposed to the spray). Is there any risk of toxicity even though its water soluble?
