  • Thank god John Peel discovered and loved them :O)) Rest In Music John ;O))

  • the mocked up Patti Smith with Pam Ayers head cracks me every time

  • Art & beauty, all together here.

  • @ countrochefort You may be right there, although 'Im a vendor of quack nostrums, born in a Kansas shack' runs it a close second. Personally I reckon HMHB say more about the human condition than Dark Side Of The Moon,In Utero and all my Smiths lps combined.A true national treasure

  • Healthy

  • Pulling the ice axe from my leg, I staggered on - spindrift stinging my remaining eye,

Possibly the best song opener ever.

  • I'm a bit curious why we keep on going back to a shot of a pub in Ambleside. I seem to remember that selling a decent pint, not shite at all.

  • @tractordave The name of the album that the song comes from is CSI: Ambleside.

  • @tractordave

Think it's more to do with that it's from the album CSI: Ambleside.

Gonna try hunting down that pub in particular just to see what it's like.

  • @Zidane234 I've been in that Boozer...Don't bother!

  • Love them - a cross between the Clash and the Barron Knights with some of the lyrical genius of Fish from Marillion!

  • reminds me of Pixies

  • reminds me of the Pixies

  • @Sapsche Both bands rose out of the whole 'post-punk' scene of the late-70s and very early-80s, so that's unsurprising.

  • Fat kids with sausage rolls, poor sods conducting polls.

  • fucking brilliant

  • 3 people need to meet the man with a mullet going mad with a mallet in millets

  • primark fm!!!

  • pure quality. all the fookin poofs that luv x facta listen to this and bleed

  • Still the best!

  • Top donkey ... if all songs were this good ... they would all be this good...

  • phil cool lol lol

  • The Floaters reference is so damn funny and clever.

  • I suppose that it should be called a train replacement service.

    Embrace the margin, all:)

    David B

  • Absolutely brilliant. Fall / VU

  • This is total genius

  • sounds scarily like minnesota by the dandy warhols at the start, but this song is about 82 times better.

  • @gardenclaw82

    Ash - Uncle Pat

  • This song is actually great

  • @suffern I suppose thats that then. Think I'll have a cuppa.

  • Whats really shite is when you spend all your time looking to see if anyone has replied to your comments on youtube videos. Now that is really British!

  • @Longniddrie One reply

  • Social angst and British humour, absolute class.

  • @LunarEcli: I'm Canadian and don't get all the references, but I get enough of them to realize they're brilliant -- the rest I actually take the time to look up.

  • @toasterbottom Millets is a camping store. Hope this helped.

  • @DrChalkwithering Thanks! That makes it even funnier.

  • @DrChalkwithering ...now maybe you could tell me what "Primark FM" is. I've tried googling it thinking it was an English radio station, but couldn't find anything.

  • @toasterbottom Primark is a budget women's clothing store. I assume that Primark, like many really bad stores, has an in-house radio station that broadcasts over the PA system in its stores.

  • @DrChalkwithering Hahaha! Okay, that makes sense. That *would* be shite.

  • @toasterbottom

I am a lifelong HMHB fan living in Toronto. NIce to see other Canadians care

  • Oh what a discovery.

    Love you fellas.

Oh Wiral at last you've come of age.

  • Cant fault HMHB....check out our vid and new song think you might like it

  • makes me proud to be British!

  • this song captures perfectly everything that it is to be British. The lyrics, the riff, the references.... It's all so very good and yet so unfairly under-rated at the same time (bit like most of what Half Man Hal Biscuit did really!)

  • @Polaris271 Not did ! They still do , go see em ...

  • @davethetwat1 It's definitely on the "to do" list... I've liked everything I've heard from them, I just need to find the time to appreciate them live!

  • @Polaris271 Your missing out , Im going to see them in Preston on Friday night..

  • @Polaris271 Your missing out ! Im going to see them in Preston on Friday night ....

  • @davethetwat1 Too short notice for me... work and missus and kids and way too much of everything else going on! Hope you have a great night though!

  • The pride of Birkenhead. Sounds like Bone machine by the Pixies.

  • @trenchofstench Sounds like "This Nation's Saving Grace"-era Fall. That's no bad thing

  • Shite has to be one of the best words in the English language - congrats to HMHB for using it in a song title! Anyway, if they did have a National Shite Day in the UK, it probably would be shite, i.e. even the shite would be shite, making it shite shite.

    Ô¿Ô

  • @DaveShedMan This song is about MY life story!!!'tug of love custody battle','rainbow,in black and white'!!!

  • @nickos1882 'GOD C.O.R.E.'

  • I love this song! My only criticism is, i can't hear the words in the later part of the track cos they're drowned out by the guitars. Could anyone give me a transcript of the lyrics?

  • @Feisty1967

Damn to hell those noisy guitars disrupting ones enjoyment of a lyrical masterpiece!

If only there were a way of finding information on the internet!

Damn to hell the internet but may the lord have mercy on Stringy Bob.

    Lycka till min vän!

  • feel like this every time i get off at birkenhead north

  • James Joyce joins The Fall (with Kim Deal on bass).

  • @nevereveranything

    hahhaha Yes!

  • now that's what I call a nice song volume 1.

  • Makes me so glad to be British......what other nation could do this stuff!!

  • @mrmaje1 exactly m8, and i'm west coast Scots....HMHB is god-given fuckin genius in it's rawest form..."overhead a rainbow appears ....in Black and White"

'nuff sed, been quaffin JD's for past few hrs, just suppin' on this taste of my drug-induced youth...."u can guess the rest"

  • @mrmaje1 I know what you mean...I don't think any other nation would get this humour.

  • @mrmaje1 Yeah, you guys produce the best music ever.

  • @mrmaje1 The Irish ? perhaps?

  • @mrmaje1 But then again, what other nation could create such shite as to inspire this song in the first place?

  • @PereUbu72 Fair comment indeed!
