Talk about refusing to conform to any sort of norm!! Everyone pinned STP as some sort of Pearl Jam rip off during those early grunge years, and in my opinion, STP dominated PJ in every single way (lyrics, pure musicianship, authenticity ... ) Hands down the best band of the 90s, along with Alice in Chains.
you know, STP's my absolute favorite band and all, but I never really dug 'Shangri-la'. The album just seems a litte lackluster from their earlier stuff. I miss the days of Vaseline, Sex and Violence and Interstate Love Song. Scott, please stay away from chronic falsetto. The grittier the vocals, the better (Sour Girl is a wonderful exception, though)
Fabulous album, terrific band. I still remember Scott saying that they were coming to save the Rock with it. Unfortunately, the media doesn't like to promote vicious singers like him, consequently the band is affected. Hail Stone Temple Pilots!
I can never pick my favorite album. They are ALL great. To be honest, I didn't like this album at first. But there were a few songs I liked. It eventually grew on me and brings back memories. I think due to the memories, I could say this is my favorite album. But I can safely say they are my favorite band tied with the Beatles. They were (in my opinion) hands down the best of the 90's.
Completely. They were the best band of the 90's. For some reason it seems like they were underappreciated, especially the later work. It's hard to listen to ANY of their stuff without getting up and dancing or smiling all the way thru at the brilliance of it. Always the sign of a great album/band.
i like this version alot better than the other vid...(days of the week) thanks for sharing!
