  • And a little while later, the gratifying truth comes out with the Daily Mail scandal.

  • @Mars2O84 they changed the URL again /watch?v=1FKdU_xL4O8&feature=results_main&playnext=1&list=PL58F82CE6315BA46C should be it now

  • Still not enough views everyone! Post this onto your facebook, twitter or favourite link sharing site. Especially now with OWS in action people are questioning more and more!

  • Chomsky makes a good point when saying "Had it not been for that second sentence, I would have thought I was doing something wrong."

The media knows that most people are bored by intellectuals, intellectual pursuits, and esoteric knowledge, regardless of the fact that it could help them. If they call someone "The most important intellectual" in a publication, they know that their audience is going to react "What a pretentious douchebag he must be." and not go about reading any of it.

  • make a short of rolling quotes and sound clips with sublime or rage against the machine in modulated roar ,... edit noam so he speaks in short potent sentences , cut to graphics and news clips , graphs are nice ,.... then link to the long version ... like a trailer

  • I'm from Norway and I've been to Laramie!!!!! Sorry.. its a big deal because its such a small town, and Norway is so far away.. and plus I love the info Chomsky gives.

  • The fundamental and basic underlying question to approach this issue (and democracy at that) is whether PEOPLE ARE DUMB or are able for COMMON SENSE!

Noam Chomsky thoroughly believes in common sense - I believe George Carlin in saying people are dumb. So does Walter Lippman who draws very elitist and controling conclusions from that.

We should all live in small communities/tribes without government/republic above us.

-> Make sure you check out "watch?v=i98XpBFWPrI" for small groups/tribalism!

  • 0:42 What does it mean to reproach someone of something?

  • @Pomme843 - Criticise, question. Are you referring to the quote '..reproach them of their blindness..' ?

  • @CardiffBoy1927 Yes, I am. To say "they have criticized the people of their blindness", or "they have questioned people of their blindness" doesn't make sense to me. I suspect that the transitive meaning of the verb "to reproach" may be obsolete. Does you know what it meant back in 1642, or what Milton meant by his statement?

  • @Pomme843 - In this context it means to blame them, ie, the people for their ignorance, although their 'blindness' is caused by those who critizise.

  • @CardiffBoy1927 Ah. That's profound! Thank you for your insight.

  • I have to laugh out loud that the promoted video at the top of this is Fox Soccer trying to distract us with a Manchester United/Marseille game.

That said, Chomsky is beyond brilliant and opening my eyes wider than ever before. The fact that he is so heavily shunned by mainstream media and relatively obscure- despite his sound rationale and endearing character- thoroughly disgusts me and encourages me to dig my heels deeper into the ground and help me become a catalyst for change.

  • Whole video is here right now:

    HULU dot COM then /watch/118171/manufacturing-consent

  • @titaniumlibra

Thanks for the link... but why go to Hulu when you're already on YT? The whole doc has been uploaded right here plus I made a handy-dandy playlist to aid accessibility.

    /view_play_list?p=3D23E9A28ACCCABC

But really, it doesn't matter which website people use to access this information. The important thing is the subject matter itself. MC can also be found on Google video and topdocumentaryfilms, along with many other sites I'm sure.

Over 10,000 views! Comment, discuss, debate!

  • YT changed the format of playlist URLs.

Current URL for Manufacturing Consent playlist:

    /playlist?list=PL3D23E9A28ACCCABC

Make sure the URL shows up exactly like that in your address bar. For some reason, whenever I copy-paste that block of text, it adds an unnecessary hyphen in front of the last three characters.

Some work-arounds to this problem: You can manually type it, or paste it into a Google search, or paste it into a text document then re-copy it, or find the link on my main page.

  • @titaniumlibra hulu sux ass

  • Did only 3 people make it to the end? Like holy fuck. People are so fucking dumb.

  • @lightningshrub

yeah it sucks that more people haven't watched this! unfortunately in this youtube generation people generally have the attention span of a kitten!

  • I have to admit that it tripped me out when I first borrowed a copy of this from a library in Calgary, Alberta, Canada that was shaped like a pyramid to see this mall at the beginning that had a pyramid shaped center. No big deal, just a strange coincidence. Great book and film.

  • @lightningshrub

Yes, please do. This is very important information but I don't go out of my way to advertise it or generate visits to my channel. Share it with fellow youtubers, e-mail friends and family, link to it through your blog, whatever...

Anyone can help spread this info. Let's do our part to make Noam Chomsky the household name he deserves to be!

  • @Mars2O84 :

Thanks for the 'useable' ( so far) link! I added it to my blog. Incidentally, I don't know whether top documentary films did have the documentary available, but when I pointed readers of my blog to it, I noticed that what was on offer was merely an intro. That led me to YouTube.

Thank goodness for YouTube! However, The people have lost a lot of ground in the area of tools for the people that enable communication of information. Chomsky himself warned of this problem.

  • @Mars2O84 is it allowd to post this video on youtube? is this under creative commons? that would be a great news. do you have any information about that?

  • Thank you, uploader for this wonderfully illuminating and inspiring documentary! It's actually the best I've seen in recent years (of about 15), my last fav being "Who killed the electric car".

  • wow 7013 views

  • Hey, thats Erin Mills Town Centre...cool

  • I love how this is so great and profound that there is absolutely no hate or trolling on this.

  • i like this....but i was a bit bugged when the ad covered alice cooper and motorhead......=/.

  • Excellent, everyone should see this! Thanks for uploading.

  • @SSgtParmer

Thanks for the kind words. I wish you a good life as well.

  • Thanks for the upload. Reading the book Manufacturing Consent is tops on my list.

  • @sam7748

No problema. Glad to post this and put it out there. I too have yet to read Manufacturing Consent but intend to one of these days .

"Propaganda" by Edward Bernays is worth reading if you'd like to understand more about the theory and practice of propaganda / public relations. It's not very long and surprisingly candid and straightforward. In many ways it's a sales pitch to groups that would profit or otherwise benefit from public manipulation.

  • Thanks for posting.

  • This is a must-watch for anyone interested in the media propaganda machine. Did a great job encapsulating the book.

  • Excellent video!

  • Thanks for the upload !!
