I think this if your looking to get a Laptop that has a fair amount of battery life, is easily portable and has a fair amount of power to it then this is one to consider. Sure, the price makes you want to puke but hey, nothing worth having comes at a price I guess...
@PSGrafixTV This has a decent amount of horsepower. They have a refurbished 15 inch of last generation(very very small difference) for around 1,300 check out the refurbished section for more info. This sounds like it would be better suited for your needs. As a user of photoshop and final cut pro the 15 comes in handy :) Dont be afraid to check out the PCs too. You can get a very powerful 17 inch Samsung on newegg for 1050.
would this be good for doing work with graphic design, im a student hoping to do courses in medeia and graphic design, i dont have the money for a 15 inch macbook pro, would this still be good to use?
@kondokostas 13 inch is perfect size for me personally, and Mac's have a great UI that is really easy to get used to. (The only exception is the caption buttons on the left side instead of right.) In the journalism field, I'm sure you'll love the Mac OS X font smoothing which offers better read-ability than Window's rendered fonts.
A 13" MacBook Pro sounds perfect for you as long as you have the funds.
@Waaaazl lol yeah this wasnt the best possible review. honestly i'm not impressed with apple keeping this to an hd3000. they have to find a way to put a discrete chip in there. the air isnt even far behind. hopefully, ivy bridge offers some legitimate graphics
I wanna get this year an mbp and need photoshop etc. for my studie and then I heard that its very expencive because of that and microsoft (word powerpoin etc.) and more
Can't wait to see what the 2012 models look like. Maybe stock 256gb SSDs, core i7 processors, and maybe if we're lucky, they'll bring back the old nvidia graphics cards, or at least better radeons. Wouldn't mind paying $1400 for the baseline 13" if they had all that and still 5+ hours of battery life.
@The8Jays Steve Jobs dying is not equal to (=/=) apple stopping the production of products like the MBP. Not sure where you came up with this information, but it sounds like you just A) completely made it up just now, or B) Were a huge Steve Jobs fanboy and don't understand how apple can possibly forge on without his guidance.
@552Industries Not sure if you meant for it to come across that way, but the comment you just made came off horribly douchey and on top of that, why reply to a 2 month old comment JUST because its a top comment. Besides that, considering the other specs of the laptop as they are now I think $1000 +the $400 for the 256gig SSD would be fair for $1400. Its not like a dual core i5 processor and shitty intel HD 3000 graphics are worth much..I'm sure you can get a PC ~$600 with those components.
Is it going to be A LOT faster browsing the web and running imovie on the i7 model than on the i5, or is the difference going to be kind of insignificant? I just don't want to pay $300 more for the computer to shave like 1 second off of loading websites. Help?
Does this (or any other) macbook make any noise? because most of the time laptops start to do that after a year. They get hot and make noise. My laptop does that and I think I will buy a mac but this is something I want to know.
@coolguylstan because it features a i5 cpu and still has 5-7 hours battery life, no need to buy anti-virus, no laptop has a similar build quality, it can legally run any os, user up gradable without voiding warrentry, lasts 3-6 years, amazing customer service and also a bit of a apple premium. I am not a fan boy i use both a macbook pro and a windows pc however in terms of laptop's there is no alternative with all these points without a price tag like this.
@sysel777 that's the thing, you can't... but there are adapters out there that allow you to expand and be able to do audio in/out at the same time. you can probably find one at your regular electronic store. it would probably be "Y" shaped... but, just as a side note, the mic that's built in is actually quite good... considering it's a simple built in mic. but that's just from basic use (skype, simple video recording, etc). but if you need audio in/out, definitely look into that adapter
@kpeshin1 Well, with the 13 inch you are limited to a DUAL CORE i7 but with the 15 inch you can go up to QUAD CORE i7. If you find the specs good enough in the 13 inch, you could buy that along with the cheapest LED 1080p monitor you can find! The total price will cost about 200 bucks less that the 15 inch with an Acer 24 inch 1080p LED Monitor! If 13 inches is enough for your gaming needs, you can avoid the monitor altogether! Good Luck and tell me your final desicion!
@mcoppola94 I'm getting the 13 Inch on Wednesday and when you go to the store it looks like your gonna want the 15"but really 13 is perfect. I have been using a 13" for years now and you don't need a lot.
Why do people say PCs are better then Macs I had PC and I always lost internet connection, speed was horrible. Macs internet speed is literally almost twice as fast as my PC. And people say it has no games, THE APP STORE, THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF GAMES and much, much more. So that leaves the last thing, price. So what the price. Its better to own something nice and feel proud about it. Beautiful aluminum, this and light...
@CPXxstreme jeesus u really seem to have absolutely no clue about what you said! when it comes to hardware there is NOTHIGN that makes a mac special, every single part can be a part of a pc. the only major difference is the operating system, which in case of a mac is foolproof (eg. for people like you). comparing appstore games with windows games? :D really?
@todderbart Well actually all Macbook pros are crafted from a single piece of thin aluminum making them extremely durable also all new Macs have "thunderbolt" yet to be quite honest I shouldn't be mentioning that because I have no clue what that means :D. And yes the app store sucks compares to PC games but they still do have games. And Macs can run windows and windows programs. Also the Macbook Pro has the magnetic connector so if someones trips the computer wont fall over.
@CPXxstreme As a MBP fanboy and an avid PC gamer, you're right on most of the things. Windows OS is shit compared to Mac osX. However, you don't game on a mac. Most Macs are for casual gaming. Apple hardware is shit and expensive and not much games are being coded for mac osx (Battlefield 3, Total war, etc). Sure, your Macbook pro might run crysis or MW2 but at a low framerate, you might as well not play it at all then.
@bh3ader I 94% agree with you. But maybe I see different because I dont game very often at all and dont see computer gaming importent. I mean might as well not game, there is always those gaming websites like addicting games and I found this video
youtube.com/watch?v=jjBQgi4_J3c&feature=relmfu
I mean that seems pretty good to me and its on this exact computer.
@robekert Definitely! I will ALWAYS recommend an apple product (except iPad).
You will get everything you could ever wish for in a MacBook Pro. It is the best computer i've ever had to surf the internet, use for studying as well as playing small games. (Counter-Strike and so) Everything just works!
- Go buy one! I upgraded mine myself with an Corsair SSD Force Series 240GB SSD. It starts up in 14 seconds, and opens everything in a blink of an eye. I really love this computer.
@Krelle1912 Yeah I'm a long time mac user Im thinking of upgrading to this from my old Macbook, its from 2004 or something haha. Thanks for telling me that. Its making me want this computer even more :)
One thing. Im looking at the macbook pro, air or imac and am considering the macbook pro 13" pricewise and for quality/speed. Do you really think there is the need for upgrade to i7 because the some people have told me there is no need for the upgrade and some say it is soooo fast that i have to upgrade to the i7. Im only grade 10 and will probably do research on safari, assignments and music editing. what do you suggest is ideal for what im looking for??? thanks. i subbed btw.
@Brok3nCarlos i would stay with 2.3ghz i5 because its the only difference, and costs $300, better buy the i5 13" and use that money in RAM or HDD. Theres also a youtube channel that will help you tldtoday.
hey im wondering should i get the 13 inc mac book pro when my next paycheck comes i use it mainly on surfing, emailing you know all the basic stuff and also studying and some work maby, im intrested about the OS and i need a new laptop but can i play games with it? not anything top notch but something?
@Letsnotzumba i just recently got mine and the only thing holding me back was the price. if you're comfortable with the price, i'd say definately go for. it's a really amazing machine. i did a lot of research before i bought mine and i really have no regrets. but one thing that does concern me in the heat - the new sandy bridge processors get quite toasty. the mac os compared to windows is really different, but similar at the same time.
@Letsnotzumba anything you can do on windows can be done on a mac. and in a lot of cases, better. the os is really an amazing experience, it offers a lot of interesting and useful features. as for gaming, if it's just casual, it works great. but if you do intend on playing something heavier like cod, it may show some choppiness, but from what i've heard, adjusting the settings helps. don't know what else to comment abt, but if you have questions, feel free to ask :)
@MegaHowtotutorials Hmmm... The Last years Graphics card from nvidia was actualy beter then this years Intel One !!! Dont coment if u dont know what ur talking about :O
@TheOnePictures Actually the graphics are indeed improved they are just harder to develop for. The games that are built to run on the HD 3000 run incredible. Don't reply unless YOU know what your talking about.

@TheOnePictures Actually the graphics are indeed improved they are just harder to develop for. The games that are built to run on the HD 3000 run incredible. Don't reply unless YOU know what your talking about.
