i love this album i listen to it almost everyday but i have never seen the movie i wish someone put the movie onto youtube because i cant find this movie ANYWHERE
I will say the British folks have blessed us with wonderful music.. I have had the privledge to spend time there (London, Picadelly squre, hell yes, wish I was there now!) via military deployments etc. Wonderful folks, you all maintain somthing we lost here in the US. You all got your stuff wired tight, I would go to war with a British soldier anyday..Maybe we should have remained a colony LOL! The US is falling apart, doesn't takea rocket scientist to figure that out...
The Who in fact is the ultimate Rock Band...period! (this is comming from a 48 year old combat vet LOL)..My 16 yr old son also appreciciates their work...How I wish for mpre from them them !!!!!
You're not the only one! I'm not a combat vet, I'm a 46 year old Mom and my 13 year old son has been a fan of the Who since he was a toddler. I even took him to a Who concert in Tampa! Great times....
@jarilima Cool jarilima...Seems a lot of the young kids today appreciate Classic Rock...Rock and Roll will never die.....I wish the classic Motown sound was still around....
Masterpiece! Mr. Moon gives a drumming clinic on this song. Anyone who never considered the drums to be a melodic instrument never really listened to Keith Moon.
I'm trying to get my head around what a damned audacious move this was, in '72... to write a concept album about an obscure time in 'popular culture' that was only 6 years dead at the time... and he pulls it off so marvellously. In the literary sense of course, but the production is also marvellous. I believe Daltry floored him when he found out his voice had been mixed 'low'... but he was still on his 'Tommy' high horse it seems. Townsend / Davies, the true alter ego of the Stones / Beatles.
Your head is already around it if you are listening to it at this point... this is some of the finest our race has to offer, and should be confusing and powerful at the same time.... if you get my drift....... ok
Absolutely! I just re-watched this film twice, and it's spot on, still the most perfect concept about the ebb/flow of teenage angst/love/individuality.
reatrd he jumos of the bike lol and the beggining of the film u see him walking away from the cliff and the him riding his scooter it like is a flash to the end of the film at the start...its easy to work out and iam 15 lol love the fil love the 60s love mods mod till i die and love the who of course haha
in the movie it is very unclear if he dies or not, they say when he runs his scooter off the cliff you can see a person of the ledge, as if he jumped off right at the right time
No writer ever abused a lead vocalist the way Townshend abused Daltry's pipes. Listen to the range at 2:16 on this song. Unreal. Daltry is Blood and Thunder. If you are a 15 YO guy and this song doesn't reach you....you must had the perfect life. For most of us....this song distills what being a teenage guy is like to its purest elements. That is the genius of Townsend.
@red777photo : I sent you a message regarding this, so I guess my question is answered. I completely agree, this an EXCELLENTLY PRODUCED VIDEO! You capture the feeling of Jimmy's mental state perfectly! I at first thought this was Paul Weller, the actor favors him remarkably. IMO, this is arguably the best song ever recorded by The Who!
@red777photo thought it was from the film Quadrophenia until now, never got to see the film its hard to find on tv or rent and i don't buy expensive cult classic films unless ive seen them before
The girl I love
Is a perfect dresser,
Wears every fashion
Gets it to the tee.
Heavens above,
I got to match her
She knows just how
She wants her man to be
Leave it to me.
Love this verse, so ingeniously written

I read somewhere that either Townshend or Entwistle (!) wrote a song from Tommy that was purposely out of Daltrey's range just to mess with him.
