  • That sounded like music CDs to relax by. Imagine the harps, the violins and a surf sound, That would be a nice piece of music to relax by.

  • He made an error. He called it "Guiding Light" to start and ended with "The Guiding Light". I do love this theme. Thanks.

  • I think it would have been easier if they'd just left The in the title. Today on Regis & Kelly they were talking about the show and Kelly called it The Guiding Light.

  • @Blueskywatcher For the longest time it was "the guiding light",,,maybe by 1970 they just shortened it to simply "Guiding Light" by maybe the announcer kept "The Guiding Light" at the way end(the font that opened was Guiding Light and that how it ended too and he announced it as that but maybe to keep and hold to tradition of long time fans he said "The Guiding Light") my grandma had watched this show for years!

  • @imachildofthe80s8089 They changed the name in 1979.

  • One of my very favorite closing themes for Guiding Light.

  • does anybody have the GL closing credits with the spinning emmy?

  • Who in the world was "Laura Marler"? I know of a Lainie Marler who was Justin & Ross' younger sister, but no "Laura Marler". This is definitely a visual recreation of the closing credits back then, because in 1981 they were using the spinning Emmy award closing & there would have definitely been more characters listed (also by 1981 Chrissy "Blake" Bauer had also left Springfield w/ her mother Holly Thorpe).

  • Also, Rita is listed as "Rita Stapleton" here, but she had married Ed in 1978, and so would have been Rita Bauer by this time period. (Even though they were separated, she still went by Bauer).

  • Well, that's not the worse of it, this recreation also has no Ed Bauer even listed (it would have been actor Mart Hulswit in 1981 with this closing, except for a month when Peter Simon was just new to the role -- Peter Simon though was much more in the role by the time the first disco opening started).

  • OMG. I barely recognize the theme, but it's familiar at the same time. Eerie!

Also, miss the "Furs by the Christie Brothers" announcement, but I guess that didn't happen until the Lewis family came to town.

  • I can't believe they let the "Lewis family" hicks take over. Look at where they are now!?

  • @jess4metoo Wow Bauer's took a back seat to the wealthy class Lewises just as Brooks and Foster of Y@R took a back seat to the Newman and Abbott clans.

  • @caitinlv yeah showcasing what the "Carrington's of Springfield's" wardrobe was lol
