I am christian but not what most people think of when the word christian comes to mind. I believe in God, but I believe organized religion (going to church) just messes it all up. I have a few friends that are pagan and I have really realized from them (they are alone during their worship/meditation) that being just them helps make their faith strong. So that's how I look at it. You might find it interesting or just think I'm wrong/crazy.

Thelwall Viaduct is awful I don't even like going over that in a bit of wind! I don't like being on my own at night either!

I'm glad i'm not the only one who's scared at night on their own! I'm 24 years old but when my boyfriend isn't here I absolutely shit my pants! I start thinking of horror movies and stuff, breaking out into a sweat and just can not sleep at all!! I thought I was the only one as well hahaha xxx

I find the whole God thing really difficult to understand, basically i dont beleive just the big bang and evolution etc. got us to the point where we are today, i beleive something else had/has a part in it aswell but i guess well never find out really. so im an atheist too as i dont beleive in the common perception of god and jesus n stuff.

I'm proud of myself because I stayed a week alone in my house, roommates were away. I was fine until the final night. I heard a loud thud in the next room and I immediately locked myself in my room and called my brother, lol. He came just to make sure I was safe and no one had broken in. Actually something heavy and metallic had fallen that wasn't placed right in the corner, lol. But yes my mind also plays tricks on me when I am alone

Christian or non Christian, Christmas trees, pressies and festivities are fun. Its ok for everyone to take part. However the true meaning of CHRISTmas will be remembered by Christians alone....to many the trees,pressies and festivities are nice but not what the celebration is really about :)

@TheNatureElf christmas to me (being athiest myself) is about family and closeness and treasuring and being thankful for what we have and being kind and giving to those we love.. personally i see this as being important in uniting people :)

I knew about Christmas being more of a Pagan festival a while ago..im sure sumwhere, i read 'Jesus' was meant to have been born in September?

Also its interesting to know Santa Claus used to have a green and white suit, but it didnt fit with Coca Cola's image so they changed it to red and white..The power of commercialism!

But your right..alo of what we celebrate today has no real origins in Christianity..its all been added to and altered..

Thank you for the lesson teacher Gemma :) I knew about the Pagan origins of stuff we do at Christmas but not that some of it came from Egyptian tradition so that's quite interesting. Christmas is completely secular now, tbh, and people should just celebrate it how they want & focus on the parts that are important to them, whether that's to do with Jesus or family or whatever. Well done on sticking to your resolution, I need to start doing the same! xx

I'd never really held strong releigious beliefs at all but when you suggesed reading 'God Is Not Great' in one of your book vids I thought I'd give it a go. I love the book! I would now consider myself an atheist. It's like that book put into words everything that I'd ever thought about and more. It's suprising how free-ing giving up the idea of religion can be! So thanks for the book rec Gemma! And I agree about Xmas, to me it's become so secular that it need not be called a religious holiday.

Thanks for this video, I lived with a Jewish family in America for two years and they never really understood why I celebrated Christmas if I wasn't a Christian. I tried to explain that it was tradition etc but it was difficult to pin point why! This video would have been useful back then :) xx

People who are angry at non-Christians celebrating Christmas just blows my mind. Christmas has definitely become a very big cultural celebration in our country (and other countries of course), along with being a religious celebration.

Also, the thing with religion is is that so many 'facts' are flawed - we celebrate Christ's birthday on 25th Dec yet it apparently that isn't even his correct birth date!

a few years back i was told off by an RE teacher cause i celebrated christmas and im not a christian, i was like wtf what does it matter its only christmas kinda thing...so i went off and did some research about christmas and found out the same interesting stuff as you about the pagan celebrations, now i celebrate the pagan festival of yule! and my RE teacher didnt have a leg to stand on! :P

At the same time my parents started mountain walking every weekend and going up to the lake district to do that and so stopped going to church. They found a great deal of peace and tranquility there and still do, they are of the opinion that if there was a god he/she would probably want them to

I suppose being removed from it made me examine my own beliefs and I reached an age where I was reading more and seeing other opinions, and I became an atheist, and my parents now have no beliefs either. xx

The wind has been really bad where I live aswell. Our garden was unrecognisable this morning, everything was everywhere! It was collection day for recycling aswell so everyone had put their stuff out for collection and the wind was really bad in the early hours, so this morning everyone's recycling was spread across the street lol not good!
