  • what tuning is this?

  • wow i cant believe my guitar teacher knows this amazing genius and if this is your real youtube account im a stupid from matt richard

  • Pity he has to put that horrible fast shrill bit in so much of his work. I had Fingertip Ship and had to get rid of it because it drove me nuts. 1.23 in is an example.

  • Great stuff Richard, Your CD 'Fingertip Ship' is never far away from my CD player!, if you have other recordings available, please post. Also post concert tour schedule. Last time I saw you was NYC a few years back. Regards, Brian.

  • Are you checkin' your glidepath. Drop me a line.

  • This video was posted by the filmmaker, not Richard. He may not be aware that Glidepath is posted.

  • Oh yeah, I guess I might've figured that out, but it was late.

  • Hey Richard,

For over 35 years now, I've told of a guy I went to school with that would make a jealous guitar player want to break your fingers. Great stuff! It's good to know that you are still amazing those that stop to listen. I'm still playing....still struggling in the key of "J".

  • In case y'all didn't know, Richard is self-taught. Amazing.

  • Best guitarist in the world? Certainly one of them.

  • I've owned his Fingertip Ship CD since it came out about five years ago, and always wondered how he played some of his stuff. He's great, finally my search for him on Youtube gave me this result!! By the way he doesn't blow Andy Mckee away, they are very different players, both on the big leagues.

  • Yeah I suppose so...Don't get me wrong I love Andy McKee and Don Ross, in fact I'm seeing then in January. I guess I was just struck by Richard's playing ability when I first watched this video 3 months ago

  • insane

  • He makes it look so easy -- he's actually got the guitar tuned in another dimension. It's not unisons and octaves. I've been on the same bill with him and sat backstage while he warmed up and he blew my mind. He handed me his guitar and I couldn't play a thing on it, the tuning was so unique to him. Richard is in a class by himself, comparable in musicianship (but not style) to Alan Holdsworth.

  • blows Andy McKee away.
