Some fighters have to earn their spots for title shots (Jones, Hardy, Florian) while some guys get thrust into the limelight because Dana knows that those are the fights the fans wanna see. Mir & Nog were doing TUF and Randy had to defend his title, so the UFC picked Brock because he looked good in the 1st Mir fight before making a rookie mistake & dominated Herring..not forgetting how much sales Brock would give the UFC. Jones is in a division thats stacked like crazy, he's looked good so far but he isnt ready YET for the elite in that division, couple of more fights needed.
