@drumstheo Well John is superior in his doubles, George can't do those. But John can't hit singles at 290 with the amount of power George has. So I wouldn't compare them.
lollzzz.....montreal summer slaughter this year i talk with them ( origin)...and john show us his drum just in front of me and my girlfriend. Incredible
Relax. He did a few short tours, some fests and one album with Brodequin. Jon doesn't play drums anymore due to back problems, he is playing guitar in Foetopsy and they use a drum machine. I'm from WI, I know this shit. and if you know anything about Engman he's from Milwaukee, WI, Ironically where I'm from also...??
Hahahaha Kurtnagel Jon Engman is from FOETOPSY, then he joined Brodequin briefly, then did the Liturgy album also. Do your research. He plays the fastest on FOETOPSY-"DYSPARTUM" album.
Absolutely up there as one of the best musicians in this field of music. Has all the technique and more importantly "THE CREATIVITY" to make interesting music in extreme metal. Can't wait for the GORGuTS album to surface.
mm.. maybe faster but none as creative. dennis rondum from spawn of possession was pretty fast. check out the track "scorched". george kollias is about as fast and a little less stiff. derek roddy isn't as fast and much more stiff. but the ultimate would be mike heller who you can see on my page. he's just as fast and an actual jazz drummer. his drumming gives me brain aneurysms.
romain goulon just toured with necrophagist. type his name in the search or look for his band "disavowed." james king is from unmerciful and he played with origin. jon engman is from brodequin. and mike hamilton from deeds of flesh. all fast as fuck. check it out!!!
Fuck. Me. John Longstreth wins the speed, fluidity and ambidextrous awards hands down. As much a disciple of Derek Roddy as i am, that was just mental........ PS - I like the fact he has embraced doubles. So much a part of other drums styles, its time they came into extreme meta ldrumming :-) In my opinion obviously! Laters
oh no! curse the heavens for us drummers NOT having to injur our lower backs and spines on something thats not meant to be muscle driven sport anyway! yea drummers should have to do it all full-quadricep 'chugga chugga' singles even at 300bpm (wtf that means - note values mean that 300bpm can sound like anything). i guess you're gonna say its cheating to start using your ankles at 200bpm then? you're not a guitarist are you - all they have to do is make 1/8th of an inch updown tremolo movements
if anything you should be happy. maybe metal drummers can become REAL DRUMMERS now and we'll have some real diversity in the genre other than the same damn thing over, and over, and over. not that i don't love death metal, but name more than 5 COMPLETELY original bands since 1998. be happy man, this is progress!
why was this dude given a thumbs down? he's completely right. all of those bands are very original. what about necrophagist, what about the faceless? what about psycroptic? there's plenty of original death metal out there, you just need to look for it
makes it look so easy :/

I like this guy so fucking much...
RRLL with the feet.
blasting continously on two snares.
Ambidexterity.
whaha he surpassed george
even before echoes of decimation.
See him soon with gorguts frontrow.
drumstheo 10 months ago
@drumstheo John and George can't be compared, it's not a fucking competition.
HeavyMetalen666 10 months ago
@HeavyMetalen666
hehe, :-)
I am not saying that it is a competition.
But they can be compared.
drumstheo 10 months ago

They're both beasts.
HeavyMetalen666 10 months ago
@HeavyMetalen666
So now it you wouldn't, thats sounds a lot different
then "You can't" which you mentioned earlier. Still
making doubles is far more effective. You know that too.
drumstheo 10 months ago
@drumstheo Effective or sloppy.
Singles provide a more clean roll.

what do u mean by doubles dude? like when hes blasting and hitting the cymbal twice, so it kinda sounds almost jazzy?

Well, simply i mean the heel-toe technique...
