  • makes it look so easy :/

  • I like this guy so fucking much...

    RRLL with the feet.

    blasting continously on two snares.

    Ambidexterity.

    whaha he surpassed george

    even before echoes of decimation.

See him soon with gorguts frontrow.

  • @drumstheo John and George can't be compared, it's not a fucking competition.

  • @HeavyMetalen666

    hehe, :-)

I am not saying that it is a competition.

    But they can be compared.

  • @drumstheo Well John is superior in his doubles, George can't do those. But John can't hit singles at 290 with the amount of power George has. So I wouldn't compare them.

    They're both beasts.

  • @HeavyMetalen666

So now it you wouldn't, thats sounds a lot different

then "You can't" which you mentioned earlier. Still

making doubles is far more effective. You know that too.

  • @drumstheo Effective or sloppy.

Singles provide a more clean roll.

  • 2:40 nuff said

  • where the hell did that stick come from?! it just grew out of his wrist! hahaha

  • lollzzz.....montreal summer slaughter this year i talk with them ( origin)...and john show us his drum just in front of me and my girlfriend. Incredible

  • his blasting is so damn sick!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tight as fuck!

  • 4:13 good recovery. i'd freak out if that happened to me haha

  • Agreed.

  • listen to 3:05 , he misses, and ends up 16th behind the beat, and he rolls out at the right time anyway, thats pretty awesome.

  • fucken john is living tissue under and exoskeleton which makes him so fast and cool about it!!

  • What are you talking about man?? its practice which makes you fast o.O

  • man its a just a saying like a joke...no shit sherlock practice makes permanent/...

  • 3:00 - 3:40!!!!!!!!!!!!blazing hand of fury!!!

  • this makes me proud to share the last name Longstreth :D

  • I hate John because he is so much better than all of us could ever hope to be, haha. /proceeds to vomit

  • jon engam is better..

  • absolutely not.

  • Relax. He did a few short tours, some fests and one album with Brodequin. Jon doesn't play drums anymore due to back problems, he is playing guitar in Foetopsy and they use a drum machine. I'm from WI, I know this shit. and if you know anything about Engman he's from Milwaukee, WI, Ironically where I'm from also...??

  • What! Are you kidding man?

  • Hahahaha Kurtnagel Jon Engman is from FOETOPSY, then he joined Brodequin briefly, then did the Liturgy album also. Do your research. He plays the fastest on FOETOPSY-"DYSPARTUM" album.

  • dude he is in brodequin right now. he's been a member since 2004. so you do your research. and use some sabians. slut

  • Now that blasthand isn't human, that is a fucking robothand.

  • The feet are robofeet too.

  • Absolutely up there as one of the best musicians in this field of music. Has all the technique and more importantly "THE CREATIVITY" to make interesting music in extreme metal. Can't wait for the GORGuTS album to surface.

  • All I know is John is one fucked up drummer, he's GOD! Origin!!! Fuck yeah, I'm pissed, wooo!

  • 2:40 god damn i love that.

  • ferfuckinserious

  • **Edit.

regardless, thats really, really fast ;]

know any faster death metal drummers?

  • mm.. maybe faster but none as creative. dennis rondum from spawn of possession was pretty fast. check out the track "scorched". george kollias is about as fast and a little less stiff. derek roddy isn't as fast and much more stiff. but the ultimate would be mike heller who you can see on my page. he's just as fast and an actual jazz drummer. his drumming gives me brain aneurysms.

  • romain goulon, james king, jon engman, mike hamilton. they all basically blast super fast.

  • from what bands?

  • romain goulon just toured with necrophagist. type his name in the search or look for his band "disavowed." james king is from unmerciful and he played with origin. jon engman is from brodequin. and mike hamilton from deeds of flesh. all fast as fuck. check it out!!!

  • LOVE deeds of flesh.

ill check out the other band tommororw

  • how fast (bpm-wise) is this guy playing at??

my guess is over 300 bpm, but im not sure..

  • its more around 260-270ish

  • regardless, thats fcuking fast?

    know any faster dm drummers?

  • being able to maintain 270 feet/hands for 5 minutes is pretty fucking epic

  • wait.... i was here!

  • Fuck. Me. John Longstreth wins the speed, fluidity and ambidextrous awards hands down. As much a disciple of Derek Roddy as i am, that was just mental........ PS - I like the fact he has embraced doubles. So much a part of other drums styles, its time they came into extreme meta ldrumming :-) In my opinion obviously! Laters

  • This is exactly how I feel dude!

  • impossible precision - no more questions ..

    0_o i`m dead...

  • he has even improved. This was so sick man, but i dont like that he plays so much doubles now =(

  • what do u mean by doubles dude? like when hes blasting and hitting the cymbal twice, so it kinda sounds almost jazzy?

  • Well, simply i mean the heel-toe technique...

  • oh no! curse the heavens for us drummers NOT having to injur our lower backs and spines on something thats not meant to be muscle driven sport anyway! yea drummers should have to do it all full-quadricep 'chugga chugga' singles even at 300bpm (wtf that means - note values mean that 300bpm can sound like anything). i guess you're gonna say its cheating to start using your ankles at 200bpm then? you're not a guitarist are you - all they have to do is make 1/8th of an inch updown tremolo movements

  • if anything you should be happy. maybe metal drummers can become REAL DRUMMERS now and we'll have some real diversity in the genre other than the same damn thing over, and over, and over. not that i don't love death metal, but name more than 5 COMPLETELY original bands since 1998. be happy man, this is progress!

  • spawn of possession, cephalic carnage, internal suffering, origin, lykathea aflame, and many more...

  • why was this dude given a thumbs down? he's completely right. all of those bands are very original. what about necrophagist, what about the faceless? what about psycroptic? there's plenty of original death metal out there, you just need to look for it

  • yay! somebody loves me!

  • Yeah, in the Informis cd he did crazy ass rhythms with his feet. Now on the new cd its mostly just straight doubles.

  • droppin a stick once in a while is all part of the routine. that vid was incredible. such fluidity! johnny is the man.

  • no doubt man

  • @JadeSimonetto

In fact it's quite scary to see him play, so fast :O

  • cheeky little laugh after the stick drop hahaaha
