  • 2 people want Doc to be their huckleberry.

  • 1800s: Badass Latin showdown

These days: "Come at me, bro!"

  • PART 1

Every scene is an absolute gem. Check out the speech pattern differences from Ike to Curly Bill to the Latin verbal fight with all its little nuances. Thank you A. Green for your able-bodied translation

For all those who don’t speak Latin like me,

  • Doc: “In vino veritas.” In wine there is truth.

Ringo: “Age quod agis.” Do what you do. This loosely means, you’d better watch yourself.

Doc: “Credat Judaeus Apella, non ego.” Let Apella the Jew believe, not I. Doc is hinting that he does not need to watch out for himself.

Ringo: “Iuventus stultorum magister.” Youth is the teacher of fools.

Doc: “In pace requiescat.” May he rest in peace. Doc is hinting about what may happen to Johnny Ringo, if he is foolish enough to challenge Doc.

  • Johny Ringo is so cool, they are both so badasses

  • good fucking lord! one of my favorite movies ever!

  • How Val Kilmer was robbed of the Oscar, much less not even being nominated is beyond me. He absolutely nailed this role. Best Doc Holiday ever.

  • Fab by

    Jove:

Evidently Mr. Ringo's an educated man. Now I really hate him.

  • The guy in red made it rain at 3:51 :D

  • 3:03 i dont know Pete Wentz was an actor

  • With the exception of Ike, every man in this scene has a mustache for which I would KILL.

  • @BloodEagle729

the only thing I would have killed for in that scene was a piece of Kate.

  • @SlippersFuzzy then CLEARLY you're no daisy...

  • One of the best scenes in the film

  • I love this scene. Johnny Ringo is like an evil Doc Holliday.

  • Well, I know that Jack McCall got away with the murder of Wild Bill Hickock because his defense claimed that Wild Bill shot his brother (Lew McCall) in the back and it was considered a "Revenge Killing." However Jack was arrested and hung later for bragging about the murder. I'm not a historian, (I went to Deadwood a few years ago, thats how I know this) I just know things made more sense back then and there was less red tape to get to justice.

  • "Yeah I heard ya the first time.....winner to the king....500 dollars"

  • Thanks for the latin translation. I've always wondered what the banter between them was.

  • doc is the best.

  • it's too bad things didn't work out between Jason Priestley and Billy Zane

  • @psanford421 What do you mean by that?

  • kansas law dawg

    law don't go 'round here

    savvy?

  • I love how Val Kilmer has a great sickly blue/green color in this movie.

  • @sprint382 Lmao

  • Doc was the man lol!!!

  • ike johnson a coward and doc holiday not retired he in his a prime lol

  • @rustler69 Ike Clanton......

  • @MAnnaconduit1, don't be a pussy, this is the Old West not a Rick Perry-Romney debate.

  • JOHNNY PETER {RINGO} rest in peace!you are the best for me!doc hollyday don,t kill you!you have killed you johnny!respect for you! but whats happen to turkey-creek or silver springs canyon??

  • these so called heroes of the west are pathetic reaching for concelaed weapons and trying to goad others to fight, i'm not saying it is't smart, or what would have been needed, but these guys are heralded as great gunmen whose skill made them superior, and yet here they seem to be doing every dirty trick they can find, becasue that is what these so called lawmen did, more like murderers, opportunists and occasionally heroes to boost their egos.

  • @MAnnaconduit1

    Silence!

  • @MAnnaconduit1

In reality, the west was also complete different than its shown today.

All of those stories were much more profane and unheroic than portraid.

  • @MAnnaconduit1 im your huckleberry

  • @MAnnaconduit1 Wiki says, that Holiday never killed Ringo. The movie portrays the idea of the Cowboys being the first signs of organised crime in the US. I don't admire, thugs and standover merchants as heros.

  • @markstone001 They werent so much "thugs" so much as there was a much greater lack of what justified killing a man back then. Nowdays, if a man threatens your home, he has to be INSIDE before you can kill him. back then if he stole your horse you could kill him. The laws were just more open with respect to leaving some judgement on the part of the average citizen.

  • @bunkman64 I admire anyone who sticks up for Wyatt and Doc. You're dead wrong on the legal points, sorry to say. Accurate as the movie was, it didn't emphasize how badly the Earps were treated by the law - and how slimy that Behan character was. The Cowboys had legal authority to rob and kill Mexicans and Indians and commandeer supplies to do so. They were equal opportunity looters..."supplies" could mean anything they wanted. Six men stopped them, and people still call them thugs.

  • When Doc shot him in the head I cheered! This movie kicks ass!

  • This movie freakin owned!

  • best part in the movie!

  • "I believe I read somewhere that Ringo was not really all that good with a gun, it was just a reputation.

  • "Yeah, I heard you the first time".

  • The back and forth in Latin was awesome. Just too most people don't know the language; and for good reason, it's dead. Just sounds poetic, that's all.

  • Cool scene? Try: One of the greatest scenes in "guy-movie" history! Too awesome!

  • yup this is the best scene

  • lol billy zane

  • @copelanda THAT'S that motherfucker's name. I kept wondering why the hell he looked so familiar.

Also looks a little like timothy oliphaunt.

  • One of the best westerns ever made!!!! This is the best scene! Val Kilmer should have won an oscar.

  • Doc Holiday = Biggest Boss of all time

  • And the lovely Joanna Pacula as Big Nose Kate.

  • With that double barrel 12 gauge under the table, especially with it sawed off, had he pulled the trigger it would have blown both of'em out of there boots. 12 gauges pack a hell of a punch close up. Love this scene.

  • great movie scene

  • ...never get tired of this scene...

  • Doc " In Vino Veritas.

In wine is truth. - Meaning - "When I'm drinking, I speak my mind."

    Johnny : Age Quod Agis.

Do what you do. - Meaning - "Do what you do best."

Doc : Credat Judaeus Apella, Non Ego. The Jew Apella may believe it, not I.

Meaning, "Oh I don't believe drinking is what I do best."

    Johnny : Eventus Stultorum Magister.

Events are the teachers of fools. - Meaning - "Fools have to learn by experience."

    Doc : In Pace Requiescat.

Rest In Peace - Meaning - "It's Your Funeral!"

  • @yahsoot Thank you for that! I always wondered!

  • @yahsoot thanks for translating.

  • @yahsoot thanks for translating.

  • would have been better if wyatt had splattered them from under the table...

  • @opawari I'm pretty sure it's a replica of the original "saa" which it probably weighs the same/mabey less???

But it won't shoot just for looks

  • @lukemiller12 ...didnt they use a "Hand Double" for Ringo?...

  • @SteveSabbai Nope infact they where surprised when the actor actually learnt the skill and was able to do it on que

  • doc holiday is a crazy sum bitch

  • You retired too?

Not me. I'm in my prime.

    Yeah, you look it.
