  • Well, it protected Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in Die Hard 4 lol.

  • @jordodegrees you mean lethal weapon 4

  • Well, it protected Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in Die Hard 4 lol.

  • This was going to be my first car, then engine messed up and I got a 01 civic.

    I feel safer now

  • errr I just bought this car, well I'd better avoid walls wile going 50 mph.

  • @freecomptechreview better avoid getting hit in the door too my mom got hit in the door and the door went into the seat about a foot and it was just smoked

  • @TheHockeywinner believe it or not I had a 2003 Alaro coupe and I got T boned on the highway and got about six fractures in my leg and have permanent nerve damage.

  • @freecomptechreview yea she got permanent nerve damage in her shoulder

  • Plastic cars are shit... Euro cars are Aluminium and have hight strength steel protection beams. And get top score in these test.

  • Well it's a good thing I drive one of these... I have a 2001...

  • Hit 200,000 miles on ours, all original, just regular maintenance and one set of intake gaskets.

  • ill remember this when i go 60 mph into a massive wall of metal

  • i own a grand am.....and i still dont give a shit how bad it is hitting a fucken brick wall.....i love my grand am and nothings gonna make me not love it :D.. fuck you insurance instatue.... ,,l,,!!!!

  • looks like i need a new car eh lads

  • @topgearmtl Just don't drive like a maniac. lol

  • I'll have to say, Just recently I had a head on collision in my 2002 grand am gt, got hit by a truck at 50 mph.. needless to say, all i care about is that i'm still alive, yes i did break my femur, like it said possible leg damage lol.. but it did its job at keeping me alive thats for sure.

  • the 1999-2004 Oldsmobile Alero was assembled in

    Lansing, Michigan, United States

  • @lmcfalcon12 they dont even do that right

  • ponsible?????

  • hey man shit happens just dont crash!!

  • Isn't that the same car that Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh used, to chase the black Mercedes driven by a Chinese triad? Damn those two sure loved to live dangerously.

  • my ex girlfriend got in a head-on collision with a tree about 4 years ago in a 99 Grand Am , she broke her leg and was on crutches for 2 months - big surprise

  • I just crashed my Grand Am today and It wasent too bad, just sore from the tensing up. I was going about 35 to 40 mph and got run of the road which resulted in me going head on into a tree.

  • Goes to show that cheaper cars are also more dangerous.... The next higher class body style was the grand prix and it held up MUCH better.

  • hey i got an idea....dont hit shit lol

  • where can i buy that dummy !!!!!

  • pfft just wear a helmet while driving, thats what i do

  • @steamingrunty LOL i hear you

  • Wow, I really thought this was a great car! I loved mine!

  • Damn even a crash test prompts racist remarks... Gotta love YouTube.

  • @jlove553 lol like WTF

  • Hm. I own two of em. Same body styles. Need to go check how the dummy does in my pickup lol...

  • The narrator voice is annoying!!!

  • Pontiac:

Poor Old Nigger Thinks Its A Cadillac

  • @GuitarnScythes touche. see my GXP vid and youll see what that guy did with the rims XD

no but other than him, Pontiac bonnevilles are IMHO one of the best cars made of all time. At least in the FWD catagory

  • I have a grand am. Not great.

I suspect running into a tree at its top speed of 105 is also not great.

  • @suckithardnfast 105???

  • @BrtshAmerican6 They are electronically limited to 105. I'm sure it could go faster without the limiter.

  • @suckithardnfast o great. lol, I wanna do something with it to take that off. cuz 105? that sucks.

  • @suckithardnfast I have an '02 GT coupe`. I had it up around 135 mph before I slowed it down. What year and model was limited to 105?

  • HAHAAH i have owned 3 grand ams, and this test is bullshit, 2 of them have been in a collision where the other cars have been totaled and the grand am survived, but these tests are just general measures, realistically in a car accident there are so many uncontrollable variables which can alter the cars safety, even if the car is to crash on a slightly different angle it can mean life or death

  • @44kirk44 hahaha faggot they broke from mechanical problems, one had 4 accidents on its history none which i was at fault. Now i drive a cadillac cts, better than whatever your redneck ass owns.

  • Comment removed

  • @44kirk44 i also own a yamaha r1 and just bought a new camaro ss

  • Comment removed

  • @44kirk44 no, i have a job, engineering for RIM, i get paid quite well... whats ur job? weekends at the KKK and weekdays on the farm?

  • Comment removed

  • @44kirk44 oh sorry, you must be the packleader of the windtalker clan, i did not know they had internet on the reserve.

  • @audiocable oh wtf is your deal you racist fuck

  • @44kirk44 hahahah, he mad...

  • @audiocable wow your really mature

  • @audiocable Nice. I rented a 2009 CTS and loved it.

  • What a piece of shit.

  • haha im getting an 05 grand am for my first car too

  • Sick

  • im glad i own one of these now

  • this makes me want to sell my grand am!

  • I know the Alero and Grand am and much alike, but the bodies are completely different. I would of liked to see a crash test of an Alero, not just a Grand Am.

  • @bazzblack the bodies/frames are identical, except for the actual bumper cover which is plastic. Go to a local junk yard and look at 2 of them they have the same doors, and actual bumpers, which are also plastic....

  • @stichy420 Haha, I actually noticed that a few months ago, but I still wanna see an alero crash tested for some reason because I own. I actually have a few Grand Am parts on my Alero.

  • My grandma got into a head on collision this winter in her 01 Grand Am with a Chev Tahoe. Her head hit the window but at 55 mph the car held up pretty well. She walked away from it. I ow a 01 Oldsmobile Alero and is pretty confident about the car in a accident

  • i have an 00 alero i was making a right nd i got hit in the front right fender while turning by a jeep i had mark along my car nd my front fender was crippled in so bad my axel snaped nd this is on a car with 12000 miles everything redone nd brand new i had to spend over 2 gs on fixing it so i cud onli imagine the type of damage gettin hit stright on the car wud juss crimple like my fender

  • thats that plastic bullshit they keep makin these cars out of dumb ass holes

  • @simmsfred The car is made of metal, but the ugly cosmetic ribbing is plastic.

  • @simmsfred Plastic body cars are actually great, making the car lighter and less prone to being a rust bucket. Do you really think that cars with plastic body panels have plastic frames?

  • no im not saying the frame is plastic but if that was an older car made out of steel the result would be less

  • @simmsfred What material do you think modern cars are made of? It's still steel or aluminium, both very resilient materials. Modern designs deal with collisions far better than older cars. "An older car" would impale the driver with its steering column during a crash, as the windshield shatters into large, lacerating shards of thick glass.

  • @simmsfred the plastic shit they make cars out of today is actually safer and cheaper because it collapses to absorb the impact and pass it through the other side of the car instead of your body. they're much safer than older cars whether you like to think old steel cars are safer or not. if you knew anything about physics you would know that

  • @fuckyeah009 so i dont know anything about physics? whether u like it or not these plastic cars fail to protect millions of people every year. yes it crushs to absorb more impact but alot of these plastic cars dont have more than 2 air bags and in my opinion the older cars didnt absorb more impact but u didnt have to worry about someone hitting u from the side going 30 mph and destroying your car these cars are cheap very cheap

  • My sister hit a woman who ran a stop sign at about 30mph in her Oldsmobile Alero (same car as GA). The stupid airbag failed to deploy and she hit her head on the windshield and steering wheel. She has a bulging disc in her and neck and had a concussion. Had the airbag deployed she would have been fine.

  • was she wearing a seatbelt because a lot of newer cars the airbag will not deploy if a seatbelt is not worn and by the sound of it if she hit the windshield she mustnt have been wearing it

  • Conclusions? Cars are not meant to be driven head first into brick walls, duh!

  • @drexelur1 These cars have some of the highest death rates in the US. That means people actually died in these cars in real world accidents. Also, the test uses a deformable barrier on the wall.

  • @idontcare80 Thats becuase of street racers....

  • @MSNIMSM Yeah! It doesn't have anything to do with the POOR crash test rating. Moron.

  • @idontcare80 New cars fold up just as bad as this shit. It just depends on the the luck of the draw. So have a nice day asshole.

  • @MSNIMSM Most new cars do great in this test, it's called good engineering. Retard.

  • @idontcare80 This is totally diffrent from real-life scenarios. Smart ass.

  • @MSNIMSM No, this test is done because of how common this type of accident is.

  • @idontcare80 Speeds can vari. Both can be going over the limit, thous destroying both passenger cells, and if thier going under 40MPH(or what ever speed this is) and both occupants can walk away. Luck of the draw man.

  • @idontcare80 Yes. It may be the most common accident, but both cars can be heading over 40 MPH and do more damage to the vehicles and cause more injuries to passengers. If thier going under that speed, damage and passenger injury would be less. Luck of the draw man.

  • @MSNIMSM Duh, but the better a vehicle does in this test, the better the chance of survival in all types of frontal collisions.

  • @idontcare80 Oviosly but you cant stop momentum. With the inertia of 2 3000 lb machines smacking into eachother head on at 50 MPH its hard to keep injury rates low. Also, what many dont take into consiteration, is that your organs are still moving inside you and when thier crushed against your rib cage due to going 50-0 in a sec. is what really kills people.

  • @MSNIMSM Why do you think they do these tests? The better a vehicle can absorb the energy of the impact without compromising the passenger compartment, the better chance the occupants have of surviving a high speed frontal collision. Cars are MUCH safer than they have ever been because of these kinds of tests. This car sucks, end of story.

  • @idontcare80 All cars suck. End of story.

  • @MSNIMSM umm what?

  • @44kirk44 What?

  • @drexelur1 Well accidents do happen... We wouldent need seatbelts or airbags eather if the world worked that way.

  • is this a good calification for the grand am´s crash test ????

  • my cousin died in one of these. Some guy was distracted w/ his cat in his car and veered to oncoming traffic, hitting my cousin head on. Died on impact.

  • The front wheel is shoved into the footwell area, which explains the "broken leg" mentioned. What might not look so bad can be very deceiving. Also, the dummy's head hits the B-pillar, which can cause head trauma, hence the "dummy's movement wasn't controlled well." I remember the commercials for this car called it "solid form construction". What a load of crap!

  • I work for the police and and was at a highway crash scene two weeks ago that involved a 1999 Grand Am the the driver had head injuries and a badly broken left left. Just like the video said. Seems accurate to me.

  • My sister had an '01 G/A as her first car. Just before Christmas of '06 an 18-wheeler moved over into her lane and shoved it into a concrete highway divider in a construction zone, tossed it into the air almost sending it over the side of the highway, then proceeded to run over the front-end with it's fully laden trailer. She walked away and the car gave it's life for her.

She now drives an '07 G6.

  • And yesterday was 4 months to the day I got my Civic!

  • Why did you make this video private?

  • Comment removed

  • It did poorly - 2 marginals and a poor. Overall rating though, can be marginal. good - lvl 4

acceptable - lvl 3 marginal lvl 2 poor lvl 1

    maginal+acceptable+2 goods+mariginal+poor = 14

    14 divided by 6 is 2.3

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, but that's not the way the IIHS rates

  • Comment removed

  • Lol

The structure/safety cage was rated as Marginal, but it looks like an Acceptable

  • Comment removed

  • The Cavalier safety/structure cage was rated as "poor"

LOOKS like an Acceptable, but there probably is more than meets the eye, foot well intrusion and stuff

  • The crumpling in the Neon test kept going..

    and goin..

And going once again for good measure!
