When puppies are around this age, the mom starts growling at, snapping, and ignoring them in order to not allow the puppies to become overly dependent on her. The mom still loves them a lot! It's just what she's doing so her babies don't become too attached to her! :)

The mom was probably tired and cranky from having to deal with so many pups. I mean goodness, this is a pretty large litter. Also, she has to eat a lot in order to produce enough milk for all of them.

I know many pits who live in loving homes and have never seen the inside of a pit that are cropped. I personally do not like the look and think its unnecessary, but I think esp if you are showing, this is the preferred look for show.

With this many pups mamma should have as much food as she can eat. At least 3 to 4 cans of wet food and a bowl of kibble that never goes empty. Gradually tapering off as the pups are weaned. This will keep her in good health. I have seen too many dog owners who feed their lactating dog who very soon looks skeletal with malnourished pups because of a lack of food.

That's not normal Momma behavior, sorry not with 4 week old babies! That's plain aggression. What if it was a child, she would take it's face off? That bitch and her babies don't belong with children or families. It's not the breed to be with kiddies especially when you see Momma growling and BITING (that's why the pup cried, she nailed it!) It's the lines they're breeding, aggressive ones and this is why the pit bulls wind up in shetlers and people like me help pay to get them out not PTS.

@labsrus1 Just so you know if you look closely she doesn't bite the baby she gives it a warning. Just as your mother would if you were touching something it should be. Secondly you can't blame all aggressive pit bulls on "breeding" that is just a load of cow poop. If a dog is treated horribly it can also cause aggression and also how in the hell do you know if this dog was from an aggressive line huh? Were you there? Is this your pet? leave the owner of this dog and her puppies alone!

@labsrus1 my dog does that and its only with other dogs because he is the only dog in the house for over 9 years, I was dog sitting when i first found out. It takes a lot for a dog to eat around another dog. And incase you didn't know this was her first litter. I have been around bully rescues for the past 3 years of my life and depending on the dog no matter the breed is how you determine who is good with kids and how is not. If it was aggression she would have just killed the pup right there.

@rudegyal321 Being dog aggressive has nothing to do with it. The mother is very weak from producing all the milk. She needs to eat much more than she normally would, and can get feisty when she feels her food is in danger. She wouldnt have bitten, its a show of dominance and control. Same way our mother reprimanded/scolded us when we were bad kids.
