What I like about your videos is, you dont just run through a game, you explore the doors, even knowing they are locked making it feel more realistic playthrough rather than a speedwalk ("Go there, take that, use there ..") And you read up the notes and explainations nicely. Making it a good podcast while your tabbed away too.

I'd like to think I would have seen this twist coming if I hadn't already known about it, if only for the fact that, even outside of more conspicuous Maria weirdness, the eventual realization that no one else confirmed Maria existed. Not Angela. Not Eddie. Not even Laura.

More humorously, I laughed at how your chiding the game about James just not groping for the lock coincided with his apparent idle motion of putting his hands on his hips. Maybe he's telling himself too that it's just a game.

That hotel, specifically the later part of it, with this extremely eerie music... The atmosphere is fitting, yes, but also very, very creepy. I don't scare easily, but that part tends to make me a bit uneasy. I wonder if that has something to do with me having watched it late at night...

Haha, not how I feel about women in general, but let's face it, Maria is not useful in any capacity beyond that. She doesn't help you fight, won't stay out of the way while YOU'RE fighting monsters, and has a habit of finding the most "in the way" spot to stand. She's baggage, pure and simple XP

This is really the most depressing segment of the whole game. And it's interesting how the "Otherworld" version of the hotel reflects how it is in reality, whereas the normal version was just James' memory of how it used to be. Also, you didn't mention it, but I think the music that plays during the alternate hotel is rather eerie, but it fits the atmosphere nonetheless.

Hmm I think I know why the abstract daddies were in the hotel now. We know they kind of look like horrid deformed beds. The original one was the symbol of Angela's abuse by her father. The ones in the hotel are the symbol of, again, Jame's repressed sexual desires as well as how and where he killed Mary. Maybe the reason the original one [from when you found Angela] was so strong was because 2 people with personal problems dealing with that one object were close together.

This is indeed quite likely true. The actions of the figures in the bed are fairly vague, so they can indeed be interpretted as either a scene of rape (Angela's meaning) or possibly the larger figure suffocating the smaller one (James' meaning).

James has concocted his own little history in order to deal with it mentally, to shield himself from the terrible thing he did. He convinced himself that Mary died three years ago (when in reality, that's just when she first fell ill) and that the illness claimed her, not his own actions. He was simply unable to cope with the fact that he did it.
