Temple of Transition Tour @ Burning Man 2011

I wasnt even here and its sends shivers down my spine. I went in 2010, and I didnt feel the urge to return the next year.... i just know I have to be back in 2012 though. That burn is going to POP OFF

Wasn't it just...... amazing. It would have been amazing without the music, but with it? It was just incredible. I spent so many hours there, and would like to have spent more. Does anyone know if there is any recording available of the audio? Maybe the artists have it available? I'd love to hear the whole thing again.  Hearing it transports me back to a place of peace.....

It was the biggest and most far-reaching effort ever put forth for a Temple, to date. It was not the most ornate (2004 - David Best's Temple of Stars) but there were five large structures that composed The Temple and had roughly 20 artists that contributed to the project who worked outside the basic build. Besides being the "largest temporary wooden structure ever built", the fact that we finished the build by midnight when Burning Man officially opened was what tipped the scales of awesome.

The only other time that a Temple was completed "on time" was last year, which was the least-complex/ornate Temple ever built. 2011's had roughly 200 people working on it in Reno (the International Arts Megacrew or IAM) and was the first truly international Temple build. Our builder was Kiwi, designer was Irish and architect was US. Most were from New Zealand, some from Vancouver, Quebec, UK and the least number from the US. Many chose to live here for up to six months to work in Reno.

Best temple ever. I loved laying on the ground inside while the sun was coming up, listening to the gamelan music.
