The soldiers of the German Army during WWII knew they were killing innocents, and did not refuse to do it. Soldiers today are ordered to kill insurgents and rebels, and even then, more often after being fired upon first. Civilian casualties are most often collateral damage; hence the term casualties rather than victims.

Never did I see US troops mistreating Iraqis: where they weren't giving their extra rations, they were laughing with the locals, much as we did. All mistreatment was done by the US government: not its grunts on the ground.

The Afghans cannot be guaranteed security unless the Taliban and groups affiliated with them are completely defeated; if not, the Afghans will face continued conflict in their country, and risk losing the freedoms that they've so far gained. Pre-Invasion Afghanistan was essentially a dictatorship under the Taliban, and nobody wants that again.

Every death is terrible but it's not as bad as you say it is. Also, the US doesn't use white phospherous, bomb schools and hospitals, or power plants. Again the news people made it up so their stories will sell. One more thing, most civilian deaths come from the insurgents, not the soldiers

But the reason why I supported, and support, the War in Iraq is because I've seen real progress with the nation and its people. I've seen them go from an oppressive dictatorship to a representative parliament, from chaotic civil war to the comparably calmer today. I've spoken to, and, sometimes, continue to speak, to Iraqis I met, and we remain friends.

Now, I don't deny that there was no legal reason to invade Iraq: that much is fact. But to say that it was evil? That's an ignorant overstatement. Visit Iraq and speak to the people, and they will tell you that the overthrow of Saddam Hussein was a great victory; they will also agree that the OCCUPATION, not the INVASION, was wrong.

The soldiers of the German Army during WWII knew they were killing innocents, and did not refuse to do it. Soldiers today are ordered to kill insurgents and rebels, and even then, more often after being fired upon first. Civilian casualties are most often collateral damage; hence the term casualties rather than victims.

Never did I see US troops mistreating Iraqis: where they weren't giving their extra rations, they were laughing with the locals, much as we did. They were grateful that we (Zaytun Division) were giving aid, and we were glad to be of help. Those who say the conflict in Iraq was wrong are almost never those who actually served in it and met with the people there.

The Afghans cannot be guaranteed security unless the Taliban and groups affiliated with them are completely defeated; if not, the Afghans will face continued conflict in their country, and risk losing the freedoms that they've so far gained. Pre-Invasion Afghanistan was essentially a dictatorship under the Taliban, and nobody wants that again.

It is unavoidable that innocent civilians are killed in war: during the Civil War in my own country (Korea), there were over 2 million (2,000,000) dead civilians. All of this in 3 years of conflict. And our strategy is working, over the last year not a single small arms contact or IED contact has taken place in the Nad-Ali area which 2 years ago was seeing over 1000 contacts in a 6 month period. We are not bombing and killing the innocent Afghans, the taliban however are killing innocent civillians with indiscriminate IED's and attacks.

@drinica2 What the hell have you been watching? News networks have exaggerated the casualty rates in both wars. The Iraqi civilian rate is around 50,000 dead since the beginning of the war. Every death is terrible but it's not as bad as you say it is. Also, the US doesn't use white phospherous, bomb schools and hospitals, or power plants. Again the news people made it up so their stories will sell. One more thing, most civilian deaths come from the insurgents, not the soldiers

But all those casualties come from the insurgents. 80% come from them, 20% from the coalition. We only aimed at military targets during the invasion cuz hitting civilian targets in against UN regulations. Nevertheless, some civilians still got hit

Look at Afghanistan in the early 80s before all American intervention. Women in the Government, Universities, important Jobs - a flourishing, thriving country. Why did the US destroy all this beauty by building up the MujahedinTaliban since 1979, forcing the women under the burka and wrecking the country? It is sad to look at the dead shadow of Afghanistan after 20 years of US meddling and 10 years of American rule.

Russian and American troops have trained together in Germany in recent times, and we've been sharing intelligence for quite awhile.
In short, America does not give two fucks if Russians are doing drugs. It's inconsequential to us.
And we certainly wouldn't put our soldiers lives on the line to get Russians on heroin.
