  • when i press the power and volume down buttom it does not go into odin mode. it just turns on.

  • @depechemode567 Try pressing the home button as well with the volume down and power

  • I just picked up a Sprint Epic 4G Touch yesterday and the previous owner fully updated it. Android Version 2.3.6 Baseband S:D710.10 S.EK02 Kernel Version 2.6.35.7-SPH-D710.EK02-CL704398 Build Number GINGERBREAD.EK02 Since this update is so new will this Root method covered in this video work for my phone. Keep doing back and forth if to try it but I'd rather hear from others on this newest update if they have been successful rooting.

  • @MiTreasureHunter I'm uploading a new video now

  • like magister, im wondering the same thing. i keep trying to ignore the ota but its back after a few minutes. dont want to screw up my phone but want to keep rooted and whatnot. youre awesome, by the way

  • I installed Sprint's newest updates for Epic Touch 4G and then I apply this root and the WiFi will not turn on. Every time I turn it on, it scans then turns back off. Thought you might want to know there is an issue.

  • @hdflor4uft Follow my video on how to install ACSRecovery5 on the Epic 4G Touch

  • @TheAmjisme I have the same issue after I installed sprint's newest updates to my phone then did the root. I have unrooted mine until they can resolve it

  • Hi QB I rooted my epic touch 4g using your video after I had upgraded via OTA the Eko2. I also got rid of the yellow trial

  • well this work with the ota that just came out

  • please help did ota update it was sucessful but killed my root .......will a root reflash in odin fix it if so should i unroot first

  • Hey, im trying to root my e4gt. I just got it yesterday and i just want root, no roms/ themes for now.

Is there a kernel that will give me root and have EVERTHING on the phone work?

And also will rooting make the phone laggy? When i rooted the samsung transform it made my phone slower and more laggy.

  • @xkillswitchx23 ths will do what you want ....note if your are on 2.3.6 it may not work i updated my rom and it "unrooted" itself

  • WIFI doesnt work, can you tell us how to fix it

  • @VGMoney are you sure you flashed right it works for me

  • @VGMoney Follow my video on how to install ACSRecovery5 on the Epic 4G Touch

  • do i have to download odin in my phone or does it come naturally

  • how do you make the LoStKernel a tar. file

  • @LMTD4ME5 it is .md5 is an extra odn will recognize it

  • worked like a charm. I had the galaxy s rooted and since I got the s2 it took just 3 weeks and I needed it rooted again..... thanks!

  • Where are the drivers for the computer? Thanks I appreciate it.

  • @loungo1567 just google samsung kies. should come right up

  • Everything went through and super easy. I have the Triangle warning at start up but no superuser installed and so far no root access???

  • @thescotty0717 Try installing it again

  • why my wifi does't work???

  • @bojokuloro Follow my video on how to install ACSRecovery5 on the Epic 4G Touch

  • Bricked

  • Lovely video bro, well explained and very clear. Earned a subscribe, a like and a favorite!!!! Job well done!!!

  • I'm still confused, should I still use the lost kernel to root the phone?

  • So ive had my phone rooted for a couple weeks now (thank you for that) and now my phone is asking to install an android update. i tried it and it took me a bit to get it to reboot. the update did not apply and its asking again, how can i update and keep root?

  • Hey, the link to the lost kernel is broken :( Are there any other ways to get it? If not, are there any other options?

  • @deneshamarieable Nevermind, you just have to directly click the link in the video description. When opening link in another tab, it did not work for me.

  • For the people losing wifi, install another kernel or another rom to get wifi back. I was up all night and found lostkernel to be the culprit.

  • wifi aint workin. i dont know how everyone else found it because i cant find a fix for it. i tried clearing cache and redoing the kernel with zip then downgraded to another version of the kernel still no go. anyone got a fix?

  • @manooti - try ROM (Stock-EG30.tar), sign in try wifi, 3g, 4g then redo the root process. that worked for me.

  • @eliyahyaj - i wiped and installed another rom. everything works. ive been trying multiple roms to get wifi tether to work, but nothing works. any work around for that? on a side note i have ek02

  • @manooti im using the Starburst ROM , everything is working well for me. see qbking77's videos. Follow instructions exactly or you may have a mount error. Mount and Format first before erasing any data/info.

  • @eliyahyaj - thanks i didnt know about that. now i stopped getting force closes lol. anyway, i think i should of mentioned that im trying to connect to my k1 tablet. i think wireless tether might be working but i really dont need it for my laptop, more for the tablet :(

    need infrastructure :(

  • @manooti sorry can't help you there. I would think there's a hack for the tablet I don't think it to see ad-hoc - check at XDA.

  • @manooti Follow my video on how to install ACSRecovery5 on the Epic 4G Touch

  • honestly i love you, no homo. was scared about losing 4g because couldnt find any info on it but bit the bullet and it all works :)

  • so Sammy recognizes that we want to root our phones? wow, so much different from the days of G1. Awesome video! :) I can't wait to get my Epic Touch next week!

  • Sorry posted in the other video but I just rooted and I lost WIFI, turns on, scans and then turns off. Any way to resolve this?

  • @eliyahyaj Same With Mine

  • @mack3135759778 I fixed it, I updated with the stock ROM (Stock-EG30.tar), proceeded to re-root my phone; I now have the Starburst ROM installed and working. I would suggest doing the Stock-EG30.tar.

  • @eliyahyaj Follow my video on how to install ACSRecovery5 on the Epic 4G Touch

  • @qbking77 yeah sorry, i resolved it. thanks for getting back.

  • hey man what you did for your WIFI? i lost my WIFI too so can you tell my what you did please send the answer to my email agahmohammad@yahoo.com

  • @agahmohammad I suggest following qbking77's how to unroot posted on his details in the video above, it'll take you back to stock. You can then proceed to root if you need. Tha'ts what I did, I am now on Starburst ROM.

  • I have tried this 3 times and I followed each step to a T and it fails every time. What am I doing wrong?

  • @qbking77-followed your video precisely on a new epic touch 4g and it killed my wifi; also couldn't enter an SSID either,,,had to follow your other video on unrooting to put it back. Is your method tested to work on the epic touch 4g ?? Like i say, i followed your video precisely. I would llke to use your tethering video but not at the expense of losing my wifi connection. Please advise. Thanks!!

  • @venusiandream , I think it's the flashzImage that killed mine, I had to restore as well but this time without using flashzImage and have gotten Starburst ROM flashed no issues. I'm not bothered by the yellow triangle.

  • @venusiandream Follow my video on how to install ACSRecovery5 on the Epic 4G Touch

  • He qbking...I'm alredy rooted but I'm using the stock eg30 "rom" i guess. I do not, however, have cwm...is there a way to install this separately so I can flash roms?

  • @blackguy321123 a little research answered my question! I can simply flash this kernal via odin over my rooted phone...I'll then have cwm! Thanks for the great vids mang!

  • Great Job man Thank you

  • If I do this, can I revert to the stock kernel and such?

  • Not finding the camera button?...

  • @atruebmf No need... vol down and power only

  • very sweet , nice JOB!

  • i have EK02 and rooted with this but afterwards i cant turn on my wifi? it keeps turning off

  • @korleng , same here. My wifi doesn't work with this. I also wonder if there's something else which we are not doing.

  • i'm using the android 2.3.6 and i'm ek02. will rooting with this method change any of the settings

  • so zImage is the correct file in the LoskKernal right?

  • @GT4081 Yes.

  • just rooted my phone using Odin and the lostkernel method, however, I want my stock kernel on the phone as it seems to be a little more smoother than 'lost". My question is if I wanted to flash the rooted stock kernel will I lose root? Also is the Odin method the same as the autoroot method thats a little easier to accomplish?

  • Unfortunately, this isn't working for me. I continue to get a Fail message from Odin. I have Kies installed. I have Odin 1.85 installed and LoStKernel-1.0.2.4.tar.md5...all per the instructions. I am able to get into Download mode and Odin shows it has found the phone with the yellow flag. But, when I click start Odin runs through its scripts, and then tells me Fail in red. I have to remove the battery to get the phone back up, but it just reboots with the Sprint installed ROM.

    Any ideas?

  • @DrewArnold72 Well. Looks like there was something wrong with my Kies install. I uninstalled it and then installed it again. That seemed to have done the trick. Thanks for your video!

  • Lolol nevermind >.>

  • How long is it supposed to take for my computer to recognize my phone? Its been about ten minutes now...

  • does this process wipe your data, contacts ect...

  • @uptownhustler1 Nope.

  • how come kies won't install on windows 7 64 bit

  • @uptownhustler1 It installed fine for me

  • @qbking77 Thanks it did install on the second try

  • Thanks so much for this video!

  • Fixed the root issue. Just installed SU from the market. Now my wifi doesn't work at all. When I enable it, it disables itself like 10 secs later.

  • @hitemup1time Hmmm..... Follow my video to install acsrecovery5 on the touch

  • @qbking77 Will that fix my wifi bro?

  • @hitemup1time It should.. not too sure why it isn't working

  • @qbking77 I figured out why its not working. I flashed that acs recovery and it worked perfectly fine. But afterwards I follow your video on how to remove the yellow triangle and now my wifi isn't working again. So its that kernel from that yellow triangle video.

  • @hitemup1time ohhh. okay find another kernel and install it via CWM

  • Comment removed

  • Not sure if its just me but I don't have the superuser app in my app drawer. Says I'm not rooted.

  • whered you get that case?

  • @xkillswitchx23 Seidio

  • @qbking77 which one is it? the active or surface?

  • @xkillswitchx23 Surface.. Search youtube for seidio surface combo case review on epic 4g touch and you'l find my review video :)

  • Just like "chrislayfield", I'm new to android and rooting and I just want to get rid of the CarrierIQ and use free wireless tethering.

  • I have added a lot of apps and changed settings to the way I want them, do I need to reset the phone to it's original state before I start rooting? If not, will it save my current settings and apps?

  • can't open the link :( .. it says database error??

  • I'm new to all this. Everything looks like it is working. How do I delete bloatware now? Do I do it in superuser? What do I need Kies on my computer for? And is Clockworkmod for anything other than overclocking? I just wanted to root my phone to get rid of sprint's bloatware and to get the wireless. Thanks for the heads up.

  • @qbking77 Will this work with the original Epic as well?

  • or is there any problems or issues with the epic after rooting?

  • qbking, does rooting the epic make the phone have the LOS thing?

  • once i root my phone should i back it up on clockworkmod, or should i only back it up if im Only going to be chanhing the themes?

  • @GT4081 You can if you'd like to! I'd say go ahead :)

  • This Guy!

  • Thanks alot bro, very easy to follow and now headed to your other post on removing the triangle. Great Job! I'm subscribed! Found you xda as I'm a member on there. MWaV

  • @MWaV3000 Appreciate the support :)

  • Great video! .....Will doing this erase anything?

  • @konabaker Nope!

  • I cant root it keeps saying failed i did exactly what you said

  • In case you forgot, I don't have root access...

  • @phen0mejon99 Try and run it again.

  • I clicked the same links on the video and I have kernel version 2.6.35.7-LostKernel+. I have superuser....what am I missing?

  • what if i rooted with the old video of you using the og epic, and i want this kernel, how do i get clockwork mod installed? Can i just use odin to flash this kernel again? TIA, keep up the great videos!

  • what kind of case are you using?

  • @321Carltron Seidio surface case.. i have a video reviewing it.

  • does this work on mac???

  • @jayzg60 im not too familiar with macs so I don't know. Sorry :/

  • I rooted my 4g touch using Odin from your previous video. Today I followed this tutorial because of major LoS problems. Now titanium backup and the wifi tether you provided don't work and say that my phone is no longer rooted. Although, I do have clockwork. Does this video not pertain to people with phones already rooted? Do I have to follow your video for unrooting/data reset if I want to root with this tutorial?

  • @againstme05 it should work just fine on any phone even if rooted. I haven't heard of that. You might have to unroot and then re root.

  • Thank you for your advise. You are correct in ref. Zedomax not supporting his followers. OK - I followed your instructions and my phone is working and running, however, I notice that while the phone is charging, the menus (All) will freeze or any other app will load. If freezed, all I have to do is unplug it from the charger and will work just fine. What could couse it, the Clockworkmod? Thank you in advance. You are the men, thank you for the updates and your publications.

  • @elescosr1 That's strange... Try a different charger.

  • @qbking77 - Yes, the problem was the Stock Charger. This phone is only a month old, lol. Well my next step is to follow your inst. on how to remove the yellow triangle. Hope everything goes as expected. TNX buddy.

  • I just got my Epic 4G and its on 2.3.4 FW will this root still work. i keep checking and theres no update available.

  • I downloaded odin for mac but i dont see both odin files shown to keep in same folder. i downloaded the Lostkernel file, Am i ok with that, BTW the Odin is 1.85 for mac. I dont want to brick my GS2

  • @Marcthegeek I don't think this works on mac. YOu might want to double check with someone. I'm not familiar wiht the mac.

  • how do you get rid of the yellow triangle? can't find it anywhere on your videos

  • @CrabyKalvan search youtube for it

  • qbking.....I tried a different cable just like you said and I still can not get Kernel to flash through odin. Odin does recognize my phone, I do get the yellow box but once I run start the flashing process seems to stop. Any Suggestions?

  • @thugwill do you have kies installed on your pc?

  • one question. will you still be able to get updates from OTA on sprint?

  • @GT4081 You will have to unroot to get ota updates.

  • i didnt know there was a camera button

  • will this work for the first epic 4g or just the touch??

  • QBKing77 - I have Root my phone using zedomax, however, his procedure freezed the radio mode and leave it open on a call even is not on a call. Anyway - I have follow the steps listed on the video (Thank you for your work) about two or three time. Everything looks good. However, Root Explorer, Titanium Backup, WIFI Tether, etc. state that my phone is not ROOTED. What Iam doing wrong?

  • @elescosr1 Follow my video on how to unroot and then re root. DO NOT USE ZEDOMAX KERNELS. they break the phones and he does not offer support for his followers... and then they ALL come to me for help. Sorry for ranting :)

  • dose this work for (sprints) Samsung Galaxy S II Sprint Epic 4G?

  • @evilmario2 That is what it is for!

  • I've follow the steps in the video but the kennel is not flashing through Odin. Any suggestions on why?

  • @thugwill Try a different cable.

  • Hey awesome video, thanks a ton! I got my Epic 4G Touch all rooted but, in the market a lot of apps say that they aren't compatible with my device. I know I saw a post about fixing that somewhere but can't find it now! Any help would be appreciated.

  • @xpyros Hmm, I haven't heard or had that issue before?

  • is it just me or are none of your links working?

  • Thank you for this video and all your other Epic Touch 4G. Root time 9 seconds.

  • there is any way to install cmw without using odin?

  • @melvinmarp Unfortunately, no
