HP Mini 311 Playing FEAR 2

the mini just needs more progammer support. Its not that its underpowered. a lot of developers are lazy and program for the best pc's.

The articles I have read a few hours ago, the ION 2 is actually underperforming the first generation ION chipset.

@S0lidSnake001 the reason why is cause on the acer they tested it out on which is a 10.1inch uses only 8cuda cores hence why the ion 2 did not do so well! but the ones that r 12inchs use 16 cuda cores which performs better than the old ion. i hope this helped!,ive been doing alot of research into this in the past 2 days im supper intrested in geting a asus 1215n theres rumors its comming with an intel 500n proc duo core with hyper threading so im excited!

They are not the same.

GF 9400M has dedicated video memory.

Ion has GF 9400M too, but it has shared video memory, slower than dedicated.

Buy it in its stock form, with the 1.6ghz atom then go to newegg and buy a 1gb stick of ram.. and you will be set.

Plus there is an easy fix to make the nvidia ion le graphics into the full ion graphics, which will help performance a little..

Then fucking enjoy a cool netbook.

Its a 400 netbook and you get what you pay for. A portable inexpensive cool netbook.

(since they both use cryengine, and graphics on crysis are higher)

Wow thats pretty good for a netbook, i was thinking about getting this netbook, but I now have a bit more money to spend so I'm going with the new unibody macbook pro, the 9400M should run Fear 2 like a champ. And yes if you put 2 gigs of ram into the netbook it should help it run a little smoother, but nothing drastic though.

Sims 3 is easier on the GPU than most other games. Yes it can play the Sims 3.

I'm assuming that this is with the 1 gig or ram? I sure hope that more gaming on the hp 311 videos are done with 2 gigs of ram. I just don't see any games being done justice without at least 2 gigs.

You're not gonna be able to jack the settings up enough to make having 2GB much of a benefit especially playing at 1366x768. It probably helps a little but you're kind of applying desktop logic to netbook gaming.
